I live in Chatham County and was wondering about the CVS on 15/501.

Medlogs got their results back on Saturday (July 3). I understand that Bermuda requires PCR tests 4 days before arrival. So did Medlogs get tested on Friday (July 2)?

My cruise starts from Malta and I have to have the PCR test within 3 days (72 hours) before arrival, so I have a shorter time frame.

    TIA for your response.

Yes- as I understand it tested early Friday morning and got results Saturday morning.

Started our 6 July “Escape” adventure today.  Our plane leaving Charlotte was delayed almost an hour so we arrived late at Hamilton airport…just after a full Delta flight arrived.  Deplaned at 3PM and finally got to the ship about three hours later. NOT VIKING’s FAULT! Between airline inefficiency, and the convoluted Bermuda Customs and Health procedures at the airport, it made for a long day! But we are on board now; well fed and beveraged;  and relaxing in our very comfortable cabin. Looking forward to our first full day exploring beautiful downtown Hamilton.

Hints for surviving Customs and Health screenings…

    1. Use the bathroom on the plane before you land, or the restrooms at the bottom of the stairway before you enter the Customs Hall. Otherwise you may be very uncomfortable!

    2. Have your passport and Bermuda travel authorization in hand before you enter Customs. You will need them repeatedly.

    3. Hydrate before you reach the ship (bottled water is provided on the shuttle busses). As soon as you reach your cabin you will need to produce a fair amount of saliva for the first onboard saliva test.

Happy to see you safely aboard and hope you're enjoying everything. Thanks for heads up on surviving the arrival.

    Thanks for posting...enjoy your cruise!

Btw, I see you are from Chapel Hill and am wondering where you went for your PCR test.  I'm also from that area and would love to know the best place for testing.

The "Medlogs" are friends and I can vouch they used the CVS on 15/501. Got results back on Saturday. We are on the 7/20 cruise and plan on using them as well.

I just read on another forum that passengers were confined to their cabins until Vikings saliva test results were available. Poster said 3-4 hours

Does that mean I can't make my 7pm Chefs Table reservation on first night.(I was already worried about it due to all the airport requirements. Thought I MIGHT have time to change and make it).

Everything I've read indicates you are free to move around the ship pending the test result. That means, of course masked, unless eating, drinking or at the pool.

  5. The consequences of testing + , OR having been in close contact with a + person never occurred to me. I'm willing to take responsibility for my own actions and assume a level of risk that I'm comfortable with.

The idea that I might be riding in a van with someone who tests + and end up locked in a hotel room for 2 weeks???? Add in that in theory I test negative and no one has any symptoms????

That's a few ????? too many for me. I'll wait till my 2 week dead line but if I had to decide today I'd be out.

Just curious ... were you issued a voucher right away?  We cancelled our July 2020 cruise and rebooked for,   July 2021.  We are waiting for the voucher from Viking that was supposed to take 2 to 3 weeks.  It is now four and no word.  I wasn't sure why it would take so long to issue it but we are anxiously waiting to complete the re-booking process and lock everything in.

We waited until Viking cancelled Mollymoo. The voucher was attached to the email announcing the cancellation and it was available for use immediately.

  7. I just rebooked our August Viking Homelands cruise to June, 2021. After upgrading the cabin from DV to PV1 and doubling the pre-trip extension I'm left with about $4,500 ( a $1k ship board credit was also applied for this booking).

I know it's use it or lose it, so my question is will I be able to use this up on excursions? The excursions were just becoming visible on My Viking page and I did not spend much time there or remember the costs.

Any other suggestions for how to use this?

    Thanks,

    Frank

  8. I'm in the early stages of planing our first ocean cruise, Viking Homelands next summer.

All of the advice I see about the St. Petersburg stop involves using private tour operators. I'd love to hear the pros(if there are any) and cons of using Vikings own shore excursions.

We obviously want to do St. Petersburg right.

    Thanks,

    Frank
