  1. Ooohhh, Alchemy looks great! I believe I will be getting to know the 'pharmacists' there. [emoji6]

If you have Cheers! Can you get a specialty coffee in the dining room or do you have to go to the coffee bar? I like my after dinner boost of caffeine.

Man, I'm gonna miss the candies on the pillow, that's a real bummer. I may have to bring a pack with me.

Explain 'American Table' please. I loved getting the escargot, and whatever seafood they had each night.

    Thanks!

  2. I haven't cruised since 2009 and I'm booked on the Pride and sail away in 39 days. I can't begin to explain how excited I am to cruise again after such a long break.

I've read so much lately and see there have been some changes to options on Carnival. I'm seeing more dining options (free restaurants) and some anytime dining which stand out to me because those weren't options when I last cruised. I've also completed my online check in and know to print my own cruise docs....kinda takes away from the joy of the doc dance at the mailbox huh? (And the funny looks from your neighbors as you bust a move :)

What are other new things I can expect and how have they enhanced or altered your Carnival cruise experiences? This will be my 6th Carnival cruise.

    Thanks!

  3. I forgot one of my most favorite rituals. Whenever we're sailing out of the home port toward the beautiful horizon I call my mom. And on the cruise I send DMom an Ddad on for their 25th wedding ann they called me on the way to sea. It's just great to share that moment with family, even when they aren't on the ship with you. Mom loves to hear the steel drums they play at sailaway.

I've finally gotten a new phone that has a camera, so it will be fun this year taking a photo and sending it to her so she can see AND hear sailaway :D.

the next best part...turning the phone OFF. :p

  4. Getting my S&S card and hearing "welcome back"

Stepping foot on the ship. I know I 'there' and nothing can get in the way, or delay my vacation. All the worries go out the door!

After the third day or so at dinner, hearing the server name the fish dish when he asks for my order because they already know what I want. (I LOVE all the fresh fish on the cruises!)

ahhhh.....thank God for this site and all who post. It's what gets me thru till my next cruise! :o

  5. This isn't really 'something to bring' but it's good food for thought. I have cruised only with carnival and our tips are $10/person/day. They are automatically added to the ship bill. I got friendly with one of the bartenders at the Martini bar and asked her how those tips are 'hashed out.' She told me that the basically go in a bucket and are divided among the room stewards and asst. stewards, your dining waiter and asst. waiter, and the buffet servers.

If you choose to adjust your tips up or down you are effecting more that just YOUR service peoples tips! I no longer will adjust my tips. If I receive exemplary service from one person I will personally give them an extra cash tip and I always write a letter to carnival giving them a kudos. If I receive less service than I expected (this only happened once ) I go and see that persons supervisor on the ship.

  6. It's been a little while, but things have gotten really busy at work, so I haven't been able to log on and post lately. The weather here in MD has been mild with lots of scattered thunder storms, and the high pressure systems havent been letting me sleep very well, and hey make my knees ache, so I'm going to have some major catching up to do to get back on track. I might not be able to make my goal before the cruise, but I sure can try and see how much I can get done!

  7. Well, this week didn't go as well as planned. I took Wednesday as my usual rest day, and then Thursday ended up being an unscheduled off day because I was busy Wed night on Medic duty, needed the extra sleep in the AM!! But I did get in a 7.9 mile bike ride at the gym today!

  8. 8 miles on the bike on Mon and a 5.2 mile bike/jog on Tuesday. Unfortunately I managed to acquire a small cold, so I slacked today to rest and hope it doesn't blow up into something big.

  9. Well, I was a slacker and decided that a day of rest would do me good, and it has. I slept in a little and I've felt like a million bucks all day long. I feel ready to hit the gym in the morning! And I didn't want to over do it the first week in and get a bad taste in my mouth and not want to go at all!

  10. Yeah, I know that cardio and weights will help me get over this hump. I felt great while I was running this morning. And hopefully this will help me to start sleeping better too.

  11. Well, i'm throwing in the towel and getting my gym membership re-activated tomorrow morning. I had lost weight since January when I started working out at home and watching what i was eating, but I have hit a plateau. I have not gained anything, which is a great thing, but I also haven't been able to lose anymore. i also have not been able to tone as i would like to. hopefully this will get the job done. Now i just need to convince myself every morning that it's a good idea to get up earlier than I have been. hopefully this does the trick, but if not, i'll at least be keeping myslef fit.:o

  12. Hello! I've been crazy busy this week. My hubby was out of town and I decided to paint our bedroom while he was out, great thing is...he loves it!! :D Thought I'd log my progress. Everyone keep it up!
