  1. Slightly off the topic but wanted to share an experience while in Georgetown and just give a heads up to those visiting. After the tender ride we walked all the way to the right at the end of the business area. Found Whalers pub there. Open air seating available and nice inside seating and bar. Beautiful unobstructed view of the ship. Last time walking around I saw it and was pretty crowded so thought would check it out. Was with two other people that were not ship guests otherwise wouldn’t have gone. Prices. Well, island prices and then some it seemed.
    Drinks around 11-13
Nachos. Small and large options. Just got a small. But for example large nachos 16. Add chicken add 7 add beef add 12. So 28 for nachos with beef ….hmm🤔

3 drinks a coke, 3 entrees, small nachos a soup plus a shared Greek salad came out to 159 including 15% service charge

but wait……here is the kicker menu was Cayman dollars. Bill turned into $198 USD for 4.
So remember the nachos at 28??  Think USD now at $35 plus 15% SC.
    $40 nachos seriously???

    Just wanted to warn you.

Be careful if you buy drinks or food on shore. Check menu whether in USD or Cayman dollars. It’s about 25% more than you think if menu is Cayman dollars vs USD.

If it is a local law, it would affect all cruise lines that stop there. We just returned (January 5) from a Regent cruise, and during our stop at Grand Caiman bars operated as usual.

I was told several other ships received some hefty fines for not complying. So your Regent may have been one of them or the overseers didn’t board to find out.
Just guessing like someone else said maybe a law in effect January 1 or something that was previously not enforced and maybe is now.

Could you still use the retreat deck or was the whole area closed ?

Yes retreat sundeck is fully open just bar is closed.

Bar Servers are providing drinks just they have to go to pool bar to get them for guests so no real loss of enjoyment in Retreat Sundeck.
Don’t get all riled up over it.

  4. On Celebrity Beyond right now and Capt Kate just announced as we leave Cozumel only the pool bar will be open due to local laws in Grand Cayman tomorrow which is the next port.
Currently at the Retreat Sundeck bar typing this and they said yes they have to be closed as well so only the main pool bar is allowed open while in port.
Maybe a 2023 thing as they said same thing happened  on the previous western itinerary going to Grand Cayman.

  5. Just got off Equinox last month in Port Everglades. Used Port Everglades Terminal 25.  Scheduled arrival 7:00am. Got in line to get off at about 6am. Walked off with our bags. We were curbside at 7:45 and in a Lyft at 7:51.

The line to get off got really long by 7 so I would advise get in line as soon as possible and not be eating breakfast at 6.

I believe it was just about 7:30 the first people were allowed off.

The drive to Canaveral is just under 3 hours and on weekends shouldn’t be any traffic unless something out of the ordinary. I have made the drive several times when you would be going.

I don’t think you should have any problem as long as nothing like a bad accident along the way.

For kicks I looked on Lyft and it was $226 Ship to ship when I looked on Saturday morning. Just another option. More money but less time than dealing with rental hassle.

    Best of luck to you.
