According to what I have seen there are groups every 20 minutes with about 250 people per group. The number of groups depends on how full the ship actually is - sometimes the last group isn't until mid to late afternoon. Group A is mostly comprised of people who booked the pre-cruise hotel through HAL & people with flight ease who arrive early. Depending on how many of those people there are some other lucky folks might make it into group A also. Boarding times are based in large part on your flight arrival time as reported during online checkin with same day early arrivals being prioritized over prior day arrivals who have independently purchased their hotel. Also keep in mind that HAL will assign boarding times up until 3 days out and your boarding time is not final until that last update. Mariner/Neptune suite status doesn't seem to count for a lot in terms of boarding time, but at the pier there will be a separate checkin area/line which is prioritized within your group.

    Thanks for the information!

    Splash of Water,

Generally, we don't book ships that are as old as Dawn.  However, DH really wants to cruise out of Tampa again.  We live much closer to Tampa and it seems we're always traveling to other ports rather than taking advantage of its closeness.

So I'm going to ask you to look into your crystal ball.  I'm looking at booking during the Easter holiday.  (either April 2 or 9).  Do you think Dawn will attract a lot of children?  .... not a fair question since you were just on her for 13 days and we'll only be on her for 7.  But can you just guess for me?

We were wondering the same thing. Just got off an 8 day Carnival Christmas cruise and the teenagers seemed to have fun run of the ship.

Back from our cruise last week and wanted to report on this excursion.  We booked through RCCL to minimize hassle in case of cruise cancellations, etc.  We were very pleased with the Aimoar Adventours company that ran the excursion and with our guides, Hector and Yocelyn.  Nice transport for the ~90 minute ride - they only had 10 people in a vehicle for 16 so come extra distance between folks.  The rafts were very sturdy and outfitted with life jackets and held only 4 people.  As advertised, a chill float down the river and then a stop in the lagoon for swimming.  Water was only chest deep and you could reach down and get some of the sand to some quick Mayan-style exfoliation.  Float back and then a light lunch before the drive back.  I think that any excursion from Costa Maya is going to require a long bus ride, but it was nice to do it in comfort with interesting narration from our guide.  Tip:  bring an extra towel or two for the ride back because you might get a bit chilly in the vehicle if you're still damp from swimming.

Thanks for the review. We are looking to do this in April of2023.
