There's a thread down the page about five spaces with Daniel Johnson's in the title. It is a glowing review about what Daniel offers.

Infinity Bay is a resort West Bay  is the beach where Inifinity and many other resorts are located. . It's probably a healthy 45 minutes from Daniel Johnson's place.

Yes, I saw that review and that is exactly why I want to go to Daniel Johnson's place. What I think I need to learn more about is, options aside from the sloth/monkey Hangout. We want to spend some time on a beach, etc. in addition to the sloths. I'm just trying to decide between the tours offered by Daniel Johnson's or a different vendor (Rony or Bodden). Does that make sense?

  2. Hello all!

Has anyone booked a private tour with Daniel Johnsons? I realize there are so many Rony's and Bodden fans...as, we have booked Bodden's in the past. However, our group specifically wants to go to Daniel Johnsons for the sloths/monkeys...but...also wants the luxury of doing our own thing after. Can anyone share their experiences?
Also, how is the location of Daniel Johnsons on the island in relation to other highlight locations (Infinity Bay, West Bay, etc)?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Sorry, I can't answer the exact question you are asking but I did want to just give you some info on your little one's feet. Make sure they have some kind of shoes on when walking on the pool decks in the sun. We just got off Harmony a couple weeks ago and the pool decks got EXTREMELY hot during the day.

Thanks so much! They wear their crocs or flip flops just about everywhere.

As for my original question - last cruise we were on, my son was playing in the children's pool area and managed to slip and hit his head. He really didn't go in again after that happened...so, I'm hoping to avoid the same mishap on our next sailing. Hoping water shoes are ok on the Splashaway Bar area, because he is going to love it!

  4. Hello...

I've heard that if one person in a cabin has the soda card, all must have it. Is that the case? I'm sailing with my wife and our two kids (2.5yrs & 7 months)...neither of them drink soda (obviously). Anyone had a situation similar to this? I want to avoid having to purchase a soda package for two toddlers/infants.

    Thanks!

  5. That is an interesting question/observation. The change over from Sat. to Sun. departure starts on the Nov. 16 cruise.

    I'm on the 11/16 sailing, it's a 6nt sailing, 11/16-11/22 (Western Carib).

It's kinda weird that it's a 6 nt sailing in between all these 7 nighters.

    Maybe that's when it's becomes Sat-Sat.

  6. Just a thought, NCL's deal with Nickelodeon is up soon, and I understand it won't be renewed. Perhaps they're removing Sponge Bob and the rest of the characters and will be replacing them with??????

Who knows...interesting point though. The post where I read it said the slides appeared to be broken?! So...not sure as to why...who knows?! Honestly, I don't care about the characters at all (I don't even think we have ever turned on the Nickelodeon channel in our house, LOL)...just looking forward to watching my little one have some fun.

  7. Hey all - looking forward to spending the day at Playa Mia...

Main question I have, we have a group of 11 (9 adults & 2 kids). If we book the excursion via NCL, does anyone know what the transportation will be like?

If we want to book private transportation - is anyone familiar with a car service of some type? I'd like to rent car seats as well.

  8. +1...a slide broken for 3 months? All the whiners and complainers on this board are giving people a warped view of what a great job NCL does.

Whooooa - slow down there tiger. I'm SURE you aren't calling me a "whiner and complainer"...as, I did none of the above. I asked a question! I am pumped for my NCL cruise, regardless of what many might gripe about. I was just curious as to know if anyone else saw this, and, love hearing that it will more than likely be fixed WAY before my sailing date.

So - take it easy buddy, bring your negativity to another thread friend. I'm in vacation planning mode (which to some is equally as fun) and couldn't be happier!

  9. Hey all - read on another post that the kids aqua park slide (the little SpongeBob area) is roped off/not in use on the Norwegian Getaway. I am guessing that this was as recent as this month (his post was just yesterday). Can anyone else confirm this? More importantly - and this might be ridiculous - do you all think anyone over at NCL might have information about this if I call? (I realize this sounds beyond absurd, I know)

I'm traveling in Nov. with my 3yr old, and, that is one of the activities that I know he would he able to take advantage of. Bummed if it's not going to be in use.

  10. This has got me concerned. My son is 3 and I know he can only do the little slides but now they're broken?! Were they working on them!?

I'm with you 100%. I'm fine with all of the other issues the OP had, I don't expect my son to be able to climb the rock wall or go down the big slides. I do, however, care about the two little slides that he can go on. How can we find out if they're going to be fixed?

  11. Hi! We're back.

We booked through http://www.shoreexcursionsgroup.com/ not shoreexcursioneer.

Everything went very smoothly' date=' and we had a great time! However, they don't put you in a shuttle bus, they put you in a minivan taxi, with others going at the same time as you. When you get off the ship, you walk to the end of the pier, through the shopping area, to the street (this is a long walk, but unavoidable regardless of how you book the excursion, or what excursion you take). You cross the street, and walk about a minute to the Playa Mia store (right past the drug store). You check in here and get your wristbands, and they put you in the taxi. When it was time to go back to the ship, they get a taxi for you, pay the driver, and take you back to the port.

Playa Mia was great. It was pretty empty the day we were there. There were 3 ships in port (Carnival Paradise, Carnival Freedom, and Oasis of the Seas). There were plenty of tables in the shade. Beach chairs were all in the sun, unless you rented an umbrella. Whenever we wanted shade, though, we just sat at a table in the shade.

The obstacle course was AWSOME. My 6 yr old ran around the thing and had a blast, and LOVED the trapeze. My 3 yr old couldn't do much of it, but still loved bouncing on it, and he enjoyed the trampoline most of all. People were constantly falling off of it (which is why life vests are required, and included) and everyone would help pull everyone back on. Everyone working together to get around it made it even more fun!

The pool they have was very nice and relaxing after the workout on the obstacle course. The toddler water play area is really nice. The twister slides they have are ok; my kids went down them once to try it, and that was it. They liked the one on the Paradise better. They also have a changing room and showers. Lockers are $5 + $5 refundable deposit.

We also used the peddle boats (non-motor boats are included, motor boats are extra).

Swimming out to the obstacle course is a workout in itself, especially if you have to tow a little one with you. My wife and I each had one of the little ones hold onto the back of our life vest as we swam out there. There is no way they could have made it on their own. My 14 yr old was fine, and she is an average swimmer.

We only had a few hours there, so we didn't eat anything there, nor did we see anyone else eating, so I have no feedback on the food.

We would absolutely go there again! http://www.shoreexcursionsgroup.com/ is an American based company with a good cancellation policy, and they price matched prices we found on the internet.

As to whether you should pay for the transfers or just take a cab when you get there: it is nice not to have to worry about bringing extra cash to pay for the cab each way, or having to tell the taxi driver where to go. If you have a small party, cost will be about the same. For a large party, paying for transfers in advance would be more.

Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions!

Edited to add: we were at the Carnival pier (Puerto Maya I think it was called. They have 3 different piers).[/quote']

Wonderful information - thanks so much!!

  12. We are looking for someone to provide transportation to Paradise Beach. We are a group of 11 (9 adults and 2 kids). We figured because we have two little ones we need to hire someone private who can provide carseats.

Any recommendations on someone who can pick us up at Punta Langosta, bring us to Paradise Beach...then...pick up back up a few hours later to return to the pier?

  13. I am just stumped on what to plan for our days in port at both Grand Cayman & Cozumel. We are traveling with our 2.5yr old & our 7 month old. We will NOT have car seats with us, so, finding "safe" transportation will be key on both ports.

In Grand Cayman, we were thinking maybe the semi-sub tour following by some beach time. Is this possible considering our transportation issues? Has anyone ever done stingray city with a toddler (the infant will stay on the boat under the shade)?? We (the adults) have already done stingray city, so, we honestly don't feel compelled to do it again...more curious because the rest of our group is planning on doing it.

Can someone recommend a viable method of transportation...hiring a driver with car seats? Renting a car? etc.

    Any thoughts/suggestions/ideas welcome!

  14. As has been suggested you can walk to Hotel Barracuda and enter via "No Name Bar" - no day pass available, or needed. Although we enjoy going there I don't think there would be a lot of room for young children to run around or play. There is a swimming pool.

I think a better option may be to walk further to Hotel Cozumel and buy a day pass for AI. They have a large pool on the hotel side of the road and the beach area, rocky and probably (brought in sand?) is on the other side (tunnel under road). I haven't stayed long just had a quick stop to look around as we have considered it for when we take grandkids. They have a kids club, don't know if the children are too young - you would need to email front desk to ask.

ToursPlaza have two car seats available for rent for young children according to their website. We have gone to the other side of the island with a 3-year old to Punta Morena, lots of room to run around and play, small pool to splash in.

    Have you ever used ToursPlaza?

As for Cozumel, we are thinking a beach day. Well, to be more specific, beach club/resort day. We were thinking Playa Mia, but, I'm concerned about the transportation there. Anyone have any experiences with this?

  16. 11 AM Coz time or ship time? - they can be different.

Even if you arrive late by the time you get off the ship and cab to one of the beaches some of the early birds will be heading home. Paradise Beach is so large you can always find spaces away from the crowds.

Great question. I'm not entirely sure. The itinerary provided by NCL says 11-7...not sure which one they're referencing.

  17. Hello - we will be visiting on our upcoming cruise in Nov, with our two young children. We have no intentions on bringing our car seats...what are our options?

What beach clubs/all-inclusive is closest to the port? (Punta Langosta)

Is there a method of transportation that is SOMEWHAT acceptable without a car seat? (bus??)
