Hey Sid! So I've been researching for my trip to Atlanta next week and there are so many options!! I will be staying on Peachtree in Midtown- any suggestions for food/entertainment?

Tonight’s dinner- pork and poblano tacos with kiwi salsa and lime crema on my finest china 🤣. It was very messy but also very good. I’ve been trying to cook at home more often, but I live alone and get tired of stuff if I cook large portions and shopping and cooking for one seems wasteful as well. Like I don’t need a whole head of celery to cook just for me. Anyways, I got a promo deal for Hello Chef for the last couple of weeks and the food is really good!! Nothing goes to waste and it makes two portions so I have lunch for the next day. However, I ended up cancelling it because I can’t really justify $20/meal when I can grocery shop for a fraction of that. I might as well just go out to eat at that price! So back to the drawing board! Haha. Hope everyone is having a good week so far!

Looking closer I see that you'd have to look north to see my office. Tonight when I have a cocktail to kick off the 3 day weekend, I will raise a glass in your honor (and Sid's since he's cooking and drinking tonight).
I'm so glad you didn't freak out on me. I'm kind of on the DL when it comes to the internet.
See, Sid? You bring people together. Literally.
Cheers!!
Who would’ve imagined that two strangers would be in an obscure corner of the internet at the same time while down the street from each other?!?
Looking forward to some food and drink pics tonight! And the meat, of course! 🤣

Jennytho,
Will you freak out if I say that I'm on the opposite side of that view. I almost didn't quote you as I'm kind of freaking out myself. It's as if you're looking in the direction of my office.
WHOA! That is crazy!! What a small freakin world! 😳

What part of town are you staying in? I would be happy to help you out with where to eat and what to do...
I’m going to be staying with a friend and I think she lives downtown, which I’m sure is not very helpful. She also just recently moved there so it’ll be nice to have some suggestions from a native!

Hopefully more people come out of the shadows... Without audience participation, this whole thing is pointless...
I’ve only posted a couple times (maybe only once), but I do catch up every couple of days. I’ll try to post more.. I just don’t have a very exciting life! 🤣 Also, I just booked a trip to Atlanta today for January, so now I have 200 pages of food porn to go through to figure out when I’m going to eat! You’re like a virtual tour guide! 😃

They would only know that you had it if they xray-ed the luggage at debarkation and I don't think they do that (at least that's where I would have mine).
That is a good point!

I just sailed on the Splendor in September and the earliest check in time was noon, I believe. It is definitely going to be helpful that you are staying at the QM the night before, so you don't have to worry about parking. I arrived to the port at 11:15 or so for my 12:30 check-in and there was no parking at the port. I was directed to park off-site. I made it back for on-time check-in, but I imagine it is going to be a nightmare with the bigger ship unless they figure something else out!

Yep, that's a real head-scratcher there. As much is there is to love about Texas, the recent push to enforce the tax law is making things "interesting".
I guess that I will have to force my wife to drink some Bourbon and ginger ale too!
I think I remember reading somewhere that you cannot take any open containers off the ship when you disembark, which means you don't have to worry about tax, but it might not be worth buying a bottle if you're not going to finish it!

I was shocked at the prices of US-made beer when I visited Canada! I'm not very adventurous when it comes to beer, I drink Mich Ultra myself, but I had to find other options because it was pricey! I just looked it up for fun and both are right around 4.0 ABV but a 15 pack of 355ml (12 oz) cans is $30CAD (~$21USD). Here it is just under $19USD (~$27CAD) for a 30 pack of cans the same size, so roughly double the price!
I clearly have too much time on my hands! 😆
