  1. I'm not sure why your gas mileage estimates are so far off, but the old days of siphoning gas are almost a thing of the past now.

I say almost, because while it's still technically possible, most modern vehicles have baffles and/or check-valves (designed to prevent spills or surges) that make it extremely difficult to get a tube or hose down the filler neck far enough to reach into the tank.

Unfortunately, thieves quickly discovered a work-around for this obstacle to their career, and simply began punching a hole into the bottom of the gas tank and letting it drain into a waiting can. However, if this had happened to your car, you would certainly already know, since you would have run out of gas.

So, while it's possible that somebody did have the time, patience and expertise to fish a small diameter tube past these obstructions this time, it's really not very likely.

Still, I understand your concern and if it were me, I would probably never leave my vehicle with these folks again, just out of an abundance of caution.

  2. Just wondering what the approximate fare to the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort. I know it's further up A1A than the usual Pier 66 and Embassy Suites. Any suggestions for the most affordable way to get there from the airport. Party of four w/ luggage. Thanks;)

If memory serves me, it was approximately $25 plus tip, from FLL airport to Westin Beach Resort.

We only had 2 people plus luggage. So not sure if my info helps or not.

  3. Water Taxi Stop 6 for the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 hotel has been closed for construction for quite awhile now.

The hotel manager stated on Trip Advisor that the actual construction was completed, but now they were working to decide on a less-congested area to move the stop to.

E-mails to the Water Taxi company have gone unanswered. (No surprise there, I guess.)

We're currently booked at this property for early March 2015. I know I can walk across the bridge and board at Stop 5/A, and may well end up doing just that.

Certain others (she who must be obeyed), would prefer that I consider moving the booking to the Hilton Marina if the Stop 6 is to remain closed for the forseeable future.

Are there any locals with firsthand information on when or if Stop 6 will reopen?

  4. Im not allowed to mention on here where I read it. But I try to verify things so I came straight here.

I verify things too, but since you can't give a source for this information, it's just a rumor as far as I'm concerned.

That said, alcoholism is an insidious disease and is present in all segments and levels of society.

It should surprise none of us when we hear another person battling or living with this addiction, no matter what his or her position is.

My name is Bill, and I'm an alcoholic.

  5. ... Am booked on the allure for jan 4/15 sailing. Can anyone tell me what is the latest time to board? If I take a flight that gets in at 2pm in FLL, am I ok if sailing is at 4:30?

    ...

That is far too tight a schedule, as far as I'm concerned.

If everything goes smoothly, you'll make it on time for your sailing.

If one single thing goes wrong, you could find yourself watching your ship sail away without you.

Find an earlier flight, or go the day before.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

  6. Could someone please tell me which thread posts the latest spread sheet. it's a lot to wade through to locate the most recent findings. I'd be very grateful

You're in luck! That would be the post immediately before yours, posted by librarylady19.

Look in her signature for the hyper-link "S-Class Cabin Spreadsheet"

Edited to add: Oops, I see Dee beat me to it! ;)

  7.

She sounds a bit cold despite being polite. ...

... I cannot believe that we are now on Sept 20 and Liza is still processing passengers sailing in the upcoming 10 days...

I'm inclined to cut her a little slack. With the recent announcement of Onboard Credits (equal in value, but not combinable with shareholder credits), everybody who ever wore a uniform is sending her a copy of their DD214 or Gray ID Card. I'm sure she's up to her chin in paperwork right about now, and is processing as quickly as she can. As far as I know, she hasn't missed anybody yet, so she's doing a great job!:D

  8. Princess do circumnavigation of Australia including a diversion to Bali several times a year departing from Sydney on Dawn Princess. Sept 10 and March 11 departures at this stage. (2012 announced but not up on Website as yet, Princess are as slow as "wet weeks" in getting their site up to date !) .

Actually the Sept 7,2011 and March 16,2012 Circumnavigation cruises are both on the website, in addition to the two earlier ones you mention. You can't search for them under "Australia/New Zealand" though. But if you go on the website, and search just "Dawn Princess" & "March 2012", you'll see the one I'm booked on.

Princess really needs to fix that little glitch ... I wonder how many sales their losing to would-be passengers who can't find the Circle Australia cruises on the schedule!

  9. I'm already booked on the March 16, 2012 sailing of the Dawn Princess, Circle Australia Cruise! 28 days and 14 ports!

The Princess website has been pretty flakey for the past few weeks, but try searching for "Dawn Princess" and "March 2012"

  10. If all were available I would probably take the Caribe balcony for 2 reasons. 1)Next to a suite so might be slightly quieter and 2) a little lower so closer to the water (hear the wake more)and less movement. But they are all great cabins with huge totally covered balconies!

I agree that aft balconies are great. I have a somewhat different view about booking anything next to a suite ... In my experience, suites often attract families, and families include children and all the noise that comes with them.

So for me, given the choice, I would book a balcony that does NOT adjoin a suite.

  11. Does it have public laundry rooms? I think it does but not seeing them on the deck plans online.....

7 decks with Self-Service Laundromats, and you're not seeing any of them? I think it's time to get that eyeglass prescription checked! LOL

Take another look at the deck plans on the Princess website: Crown Deck Plans

    Riviera Deck: Opposite Cabins R610 & R609

    Aloha Deck: Opposite Cabins A630 & A631.

    Baja Deck: Opposite B612 & B611

    Caribe: Opposite C314 & C311

    Dolphin: Opposite D722 & D723

    Emerald: Opposite E620 & E621

    Plaza: Opposite P208

My better half says that since I know where all the laundromats are, I can do the wash myself, since she's on vacation and will be unavailable!fing20.gif
