  1. Thats great that you were able to take advantage of the good deal. True P & O isnt celebrity or RCCL but you can still have a jolly good time if you go with the right attitude. Don't expect 5 star on 2 star prices. I expect the ship would be quite nice as it has recently had a make over. Friends will be getting off when you get on so I am looking forward to hearing what they think of the ship.

Any cruise is a good cruise (this will be my 35th and I can honestly say I've never had a bad one). We went on the Pacific Explorer last year and loved it so I'm really looking forward to it.

  2. Cheap as chips $50 per diem cruising, but watch out for the Bogans, those prices attract them.:halo::rolleyes:

Dress standards apply..please !!! Tuxedo or Bag of fruit on formal nights and no shorts in MDR at all.

No formal nights apparently, only theme nights (back to school, White Night, Gatsby). :)

  3. Welcome to the New Year and to all who are looking forward to sailing away at some time through the year

Bon Voyage to those cruising for a summer holiday in January.

Hi can you add the following for me please:

17th January 2018, Pacific Eden to Melbourne (Australian Open tennis cruise)

13th February 2018, Sun Princess to Tasmania

    Thank you.

  4. I watched the Today show this morn with the cast onboard the Ovation, and I saw some CCers from Canberra:p we met them on the Radiance last Easter, I wont mention their names for privacy, but they were the ones that they spoke to who had done the most cruises and they stayed on in the background for the segments.......so good to see them onboard and cruising, looks like they had family with them.:)

Hi there, yes we were on board (just Col and me). Some friends badgered me into getting up early to watch the show when they heard it was going to be filmed on board and I was glad I relented on the day, because it was really interesting watching how it all works and I ended up staying through the whole thing. The ship is amazing, the service was excellent and the cruise (to Hobart and NZ) was fantastic (except for the weather in the beginning, which resulted in some activities and shows being postponed - but that can't be helped and no amount of whinging (by lots of people on board, believe it or not!) can change that). I was surprised that being such a big ship with so many passengers we never felt it was crowded, never had problems finding a seat in the buffet or in shows and only had to queue twice, once in Guest Services to get our wrist bands (which is optional - but we loved them), and once to get back on the tender to the ship in Auckland. I highly recommend Ovation. :-)

  5. You need the fastest option and that's a land taxi. It's a 20 minute drive and a cab will take you directly to the pier, about 40E.

You're cutting it way too close with that flight. I hope you have a back up plan, seriously. ... Good luck!!

Thanks for the advice about the taxi, that's what we'll do. I assume there's an easy to find taxi rank at the airport?

Yes, I'm stressing a LOT about the timing, but actually it's not as bad as I thought - I checked again and we get in at 2pm, not 3pm. Still less time than I'd like though. I do intend to have a backup plan of what to do if we miss the sailing. First port of call is Dubrovnik so I'll be researching how to get there and where to stay in Venice etc. But hopefully I won't need that.

Thanks everyone for your help, it makes it easier to know what we need to do once we land in Venice.

  6. Portland is a walk off which is great and there are places to go/see around the area altho if you want to go on the tram you will need to pre-book your tickets once you get off, as it gets very busy. ...

With KI its a tender port to Penneshaw which is very small town and if you want to see a bit more then either pre-book a hire car or private tour, or get off as soon as you can to get on private tour, or else go on ships tour. /QUOTE]

Thank you so much, that's all really helpful.

  7. We are on Pacific Pearl next week, with stops at Eden, Portland and Kangaroo Island. I've been to Eden many times and have done most of the places the shore tours take you to, so was thinking of hiring a car, or just wandering around where the tender boat drops you. But is there anywhere around there to go? Also, any tips on what to do in Portland and KI? Any help appreciated. :)

  8. Has anyone been on any of these 2 shore excursions? I am going on the Voyager of the Seas and will be in Lautoka on Christmas day but i am stuck as to which excursion to pick.

Fijian Fire Walking & Cultural Show, Morning or Afternoon Tea at Westin Resort - FJ12

    Fijian Traditions & Beauty - FJ05

    I would love any feedback

Hi sugardiva, we're on that cruise too. Haven't done those excursions so can't help with your decision but I'm thinking we will have to book some kind of tour because it'll be Christmas day so nothing will be open except for the tour places. I'm thinking though that we'll look for a private tour rather than the tourist ship's tour.
