  1. DH and I will be joining you on this cruise. We are looking at he port changes as an adventure since we have never been to DR before.

If we are not impressed, it's back to the ship for some quality verandah time. And I have to say that Half Moon Cay is one of my favorite beaches in the Caribbean. I'd be happy to drop anchor there for a few days.

The Nieuw Amsterdam is a beautiful ship and you will be well taken care of by the staff. Have a wonderful anniversary and enjoy the ride. I'll be celebrating a birthday and can't think of a better way to spend it.

  2. We will be on the eurodam this Halloween and would be interested if others are bringing costumes.

We were on Disney earlier this year and dressed in full pirate regalia on pirate night. It was a family cruise and great fun for the nieces and nephews, but the pirate gear took up an entire suitcase.

We'll be on the Zuiderdam on Halloween and am trying to decide whether or not to pack costumes just in case there's a Halloween party. I'm not willing to devote a full suitcase to costumes this time, but maybe something simple.

  3. I read on another thread that you are only allowed to bring onboard 1 bottle of wine each and as much soda as you like, so who is right? I am getting so confused!!!!! Marlster

HAL changed the policy earlier this year. You are now only able to bring on one (750ml max) bottle of wine per person (including wine brought on board in ports of call). After you have reached the limit, you will be charged an $18 corkage fee per bottle regardless of where it is consumed.

  4. The cabin doesn't make the cruise. I still paid much more than many to get the added benefit of a nice location and bigger cabin. Other than that, I get nearly the same treatment and amenities as everyone else.

But yes, I'm pretty happy. :)

While a great cabin may not make the cruise, a bad cabin can ruin it as evidenced by the many posters on these boards sharing their horror stories over the years.

Congratulations on your great upgrade - Enjoy!

  5. We have a SC GTY on the Westerdam departing on Dec 9. Right now there are no SCs available, 2 SBs, and 6 SAs. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the SB in the stern with the lovely wrap verandah. Regardless of what I get, I wish it would happen soon. Let's just say I'm on the frequent checker list :D
