  1. We have sailed 3 times on Azura, the first two times we didn't notice any smell at all, but the last one (December 2019) it was definitely there. For us it was most noticeable around the oasis pool, to the point some days it made sunbathing nigh on impossible it was that bad a smell.

Wouldn't stop us going back on her though, we would just move where we were sunbathing

  2. What a lovely topic!!!

My most memorable cruise would have to be the first one we ever did. We were on Azura, leading up to Christmas, a sea day, also my 30th birthday. My partner took me to the glass house for a boozy lunch to celebrate the big 30, then just before dessert, he popped the question and asked me to marry him.

None of the others have lived up to that lol but the honeymoon on the same cruise certainly came close!!!

  3. We are due to sail in July on Britannia, but me and the husband have decided to cancel as the balance is due next week and we would rather have that money sat in our account than theirs.

But we have two excursions booked and paid for, if I was to ring p and o and cancel the cruise, will those excursions automatically be refunded as part of the process?

    Thanks for your help!

  4. It's my husbands 40th in July and for the past year I have been saving and planning for a surprise Britannia cruise on July 18th. After weeks of wondering what to do and stressing about the whole situation, I sat him down and asked his advice this weekend as normally we make all big decisions together.

His take on it is we cancel it and plan something in the uk and get back to cruising when it is definitely settling down, as it is all so unknown at the moment. He thinks with how things are at the minute, it makes more sense for us to have our money than P & O

Your best off looking on another popular site people are coming back off cruises and they say they have enjoyed them,we are going on our cruise even though I have underlying health problems.

Thanks for that Bazrat, tbh we have no medical issues as such to worry about, I think the thing that's worrying me is if the itinerary was changed so much and we basically ended up at sea for two weeks, oh well, what will be will be!!!

  6. Well I have us currently booked on Britannia in July for my husbands 40th, I have had it planned since last year as a surprise and been saving since. Now I have no idea what to do! I would normally ask my husbands advice but as this is a surprise I cant! Have 3 weeks now until final payment is due, people keep telling me to see what it is like then and decide, but I HATE not knowing what I am doing arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh………..

We are sailing on Brittania on July 18th this year for 2 weeks and were thinking of using the Retreat for the 2 weeks we are on board as we had used the one on Azura last year (all be it only for 3 days) and we liked it.

Can someone tell me the cost for a couple to use the retreat for 2 weeks (no spa treatments) just to guarantee a sunbed.

    Thanks Guys

Me and the husband are going to be on this cruise and we are also likely going to be booking into the Retreat! Don't worry, won't stalk you!

We just got home after our first ever p &o cruise on Britannia. We absolutely loved it , beautiful ship, beautiful food couldn’t fault it really apart from one incident in the lovely epicurean restaurant. We were a party of four and had our night ruined by one guest in particular who was dining with his wife on a table close to us, by his constant complaining. As we arrived in the restaurant the staff explained the whole dining experience could take around two and a half hours or longer which we were fine with, the guest on the other table begged to differ as he complained about having to wait over 45 mins for his starter and when it finally arrived he complained about it saying “how am I supposed to eat this, what am I to do with it”  ! It was a lobster dish served in a  tilted wine glass but it was amazing as I ordered it. How the waiter kept a straight face I will never know. He summoned the head waiter over and complained about everything , the waiter replied that there were lots of other diners enjoying their meals to which the guest replied” but look around you , you can tell these people are used to eating in the buffet and wouldn’t know fine dining  therefore wouldn’t know good food!!! We were furious and made comments loud enough for them to hear as how dare he suggest we wouldn’t know good food!  This guest was bragging about his wealth and how he ate in expensive restaurants all over the world but no amount of money can buy manners he  behaved appallingly. I wish the head waiter had told him to leave if he didn’t like it instead of ruining other diners evening. Funnily enough we saw him in the buffet lots of times after that!

This reminds me of when me and my husband were dining in the Epicurean on Azura in December. 2 men arrived with a little girl (from over hearing them talking, it was grandad, son and granddaughter). It all started going down hill when they wanted to order the sharing beef dish each, ie 4 main courses between the two of them. After checking they were waiter was very polite in saying they wouldn't be able to do this.

It all calmed down then until about 30 minutes later, we are halfway through our main and the son audibly broke wind, me and my husband sort of looked at each other to say "*****?!" and then his daughter (only around 6) told him off and told him he was disgusting.

On the plus side, the little girl was an absolute delight!

  9. Hi All

We are going on our first cruise that could potentially be hit with an abundance of kids on school holidays. Britannia Med cruise on the 18th July.

It’s not that we hate children, we just hate screaming noise whilst we are trying to relax, I am just wondering on peoples opinions who have gone through this, would you recommend booking into the Retreat? Or is not as bad I am anticipating it will be?

    Many Thanks as always

  10. Hi Everyone!

Just logged into my peninsular club account for the first time since our December cruise, all my previous ones are logged but it is saying I have no future cruises booked, when in reality I have two booked.

    Is this normal / a glitch / wrong ?

    Many Thanks in advance!

I must say that I would like the opportunity of attending LGBT+ meetings on P&O.  Whilst I don't feel a desperate need for them, it would be nice.  In all my years of cruising, I have never had a problem on board a P&O ship (apart from one guy on Azura which may or may not have been related to Tony & I being a couple) but sadly there is still discrimination and bad attitude out there so it would be nice to have a meet up with others where you know you can relax right away.

It certainly wouldn't feel like being shoved in a corner to me Andy 😀 - and definitely wouldn't stop me socialising with all you straight people the rest of the time 😂😉

Completely agree :) I would definitely never stop me socializing with anyone, just an initial meet up would be nice. Especially on things like a Caribbean cruise. It would be nice to be able to have the opportunity to people who have been to islands and have experiences of places that are good to go or should definitely be avoided (we have been in a few situations where as a gay couple on one of the islands we have not felt safe)

I definitely would not stop socializing with straight people, we use it as our opportunity to show a lot of straight men what "black tie" actually means ;-)

On our recent cruise on Ventura, we came across a get together in Metropolis on one of the first sea days.  Whilst not actually my thing, I sort of assumed that sort of arrangement was always in place.  Clearly not the case then!

Ah interesting! It they do, they don't seem to advertise it haha

Tbh it isn't really my sort of thing, I think it would be a case of go, then say hello in passing, i'm not a massively social or party person lol

  13. One thing that me and the husband discussed numerous times onboard Azura in December was we would love them to do something like an LGBTQ+ afternoon tea or similar.

We have never had a problem being Gay whilst on board (well, apart from an incident on this last cruise) but it would be nice to be able to easily meet up with some like minded people etc :)
