  1. Just got back from our cruise last week, including our tour with Joey.  It was great, Joey was awesome and informative.  Our tour was similar to the one above, but we only did one beach stop, but went did a cave tour that was very informative.   Really recommend Gone Caribe for their great communication and great tour.

We paid for for the tour at the end.

  2. Just off Explorer. We asked for it at Diamond lounge and was pointed to the QR code to scan. Our room steward did put paper version in our room Days 2-8 after we asked. We did also scan the QR code daily and will probably just do that in the future. Only issue to get over is we do like looking at it the night before the day ahead. I found one time scanning the QR code in the evening bright me to both the current and next day cruise compass to view.

  3. Since our kids started cruising we’ve only done the early traditional dining. Our kids are a little older now (10/8), but when they were 5 and 7 they’d just eat with us and we’d finish our meal and do our evening activities that sometimes included AO for the kids. Dining in the MDR has gotten shorter than it used to be. You’ll have to judge if your kids have the patience . Our kids have enjoyed the MDR and talking as a family or the nights the waiters sing and it’s not that long. I think a parent bringing them to AO early and returning would be a possibility if needed.

don’t worry about clothes, you’ll be fine. Our kids have usually dressed a little nicer than a shirt but there are no strict requirements.

I respectfully disagree with this statement.  It's too early in "this game" to try to bring out the "heavy artillery" with an attempt to try to "shame" or "discredit" them to get your refund.  Be patient.  In a previous situation similar to this, my travel group worked with the vendor to get our refund.  It took several months.  But, eventually, the gentleman was able to make all of us whole.

I said use empathy but eventually it may get to that point. I never said blast them tomorrow.  Personally to me months is too long of a time frame to get a refund. If my August AK cruise is cancelled, I think a few weeks is reasonable for me to get my seaplane excursion refund. Maybe I’ll give them more time with these unique circumstances, but longer than that is unreasonable to keep my money when I’ve given notice that I will not be using your services and am cancelling under the  agreed to terms.

  5. Sounds like they’re working on more near term cancellations. But at the end of the day you should get your refund. Try some empathy but if you get to a point of non-returned calls or frustration you may have to take to trip advisor or the like. Excursions rely on reviews and more specially good reviews if other cruisers are going to book with them. You might speed up the process that way to get their attention.

And i just booked an Allure cruise specifically because it stopped in both of those ports - two free beach days and two been there, done that, not getting off the ship days. 0$$ spent at tourist trap ports = priceless😀

It's all about why people cruise.  I stand corrected, we cruise to see new places, meet the locals.  The demand for manufactured beach days is there I see, I might be in the minority.

This is exactly how it has worked on all of our cruises.  The sea pass card has so many credits and when they are used up, you need to use the machine in the arcade to recharge the card.  This is what “charges” the onboard account, not the games themselves.  So, unless they have changed their system, the kids needed to recharge their cards - which means they knew that their $100 credits were used up.  In terms of their ability to recharge their cards, Guest Services warned us twice that as soon as you use your sea pass card in the arcade, it automatically turns the card on in the system - which gives it charging privileges.  This is a known problem - maybe RCI should use a different card for the arcade like most resorts use.  This would eliminate this issue, which seems to happen once or twice every year...

This is hows it worked on all of our cruises except the last one.  On Allure, no need to recharge the Seapass card, each swipe at a game charged the card $2 or whatever.  I couldn’t figure out why they’d have a different system and a system that wouldn’t allow a set arcade credit to be placed on the Seapass that would run out. Kids could just charge and charge with no credit limit, but there was a large daily limit.

  8. First cruise was 2004.  Many changes have been said and some changes are good, some bad.

-daily printed one page newspaper with stories and sports scores in the library

    -chocolates on the pillows

-5 course dinner, long dinners too

    -noon captains announcement

-dining room waiters with the shot glasses

-removal of foods at windjammer like sushi or chips & guac so you’d pay at ship restaurants (Rita’s Cantina, Izumi etc.)

  9. Does anyone know if you will be able to see dining or show reservations I’ve confirmed prior to traveling, in the app?

When we were on Allure earlier this year the app had our show reservations in there. We even had the diamond lounge concierge change a reservation and the app updated a few minutes later with the new reservation.
