  1. Are there any places on Norwegian Joy that have quick take and go bites/snacks? I know that the Observation has snacks throughout the day, but what about after dinner hours like after 9 pm? I know there's the Local, but I don't want to have to sit down and order a snack, I would prefer just to stop in, pick something up, and be on my way 🙂 Thank you!

  2. I'm also diabetic on insulin but I have a continuous glucose monitor attached.

Can anyone please recommend some low sugar alcoholic drinks? Usually I go for a nice riesling because they're not too sweet or too bitter, or a glass of champagne but I'm not sure what Royal has, and would like to try something new. I don't have the alcoholic drink package, just the soda package.  TIA!

  3. Thank you everyone. Yes I'm going to get a certified copy of my birth certificate and bring it with my Passport and new driver's license I'm getting this October. I'm not chancing renewing my passport right now with the delays. God forbid my passport gets lost and then I'm really stuck out of luck! I'm a nervous traveler, so trying to avoid any unnecessary worries like this passport question.

  4. Hi,

I'm taking the Anthem of the Seas next March 17, 2024 but my passport expires in the middle of September 2024. I've been researching and finding that the passport needs to be valid at least 6 months past the last day of the cruise. How serious does Royal follow this rule or is this more of a recommendation? Thank you!

  5. We're going on the Island Princess in October and just got our assigned boarding time of 2:30 pm. Are they strict with the arrival times? Have you ever had to wait for your exact time, or are they just suggested, so that everyone doesn't arrive at the same time? We have to check out of our hotel around 11 am and were planning on getting to the cruise port way before 2:30 pm.

    Thanks!

I realize that you did not ask about this option but instead of carrying your tablet around all day, why not just fold the paper copy of the Patter or rip out the pages you need and stick it into your pocket.  Seems like a simple low tech solution to me.

    DON

I'm trying to come up with pros and cons for my tablet, and carrying it around was a "con" but realized that if you get to a theater real early, there's apps you can use that don't need wifi, and can always use that while waiting in the theater. This makes me really think more about bringing it in addition to viewing the princess patter daily on it too.

I was on the Regal and I was able to see the patter on my ipad. I was also able to text and send pictures to my family at home thru iMessage with no internet package.

Thanks! I was wondering about iMessage as well. One of my previous cruises (not on Princess) I was able to use iMessage without an internet package.

  8. Hi!

Does anyone have a picture of the pullman's bed on the Island Princess in a balcony room? There are no pictures on the website and I can't seem to find any.  I'm wondering where the bed pulls down from -- is it by the desk or in front of the bed?

    Thanks,

    Dennis

  9. Thanks for all the info! Maybe the streaming music on Royal Caribbean was a fluke during the cruise. I like the Princess @ Sea that you can message people within your party who are on board. I'm traveling with my parents and my dad does text, so that'll be helpful to have.

  10. When I was on Royal Caribbean even though I didn't purchase the Wifi package, I was still able to stream Apple Music and text message via iMessage with no roaming charges incurred. Are those capabilities working on Island Princess without a wifi package?

    Thanks!

  11. We got there around 10 and got on board around 10:45. Cafe 270 wasn't even open (opens at 11am) so we had to stand in a long line. But after we ate lunch, the ship felt empty when we explored. We didn't realize how crowded it was until the muster drill! We walked to the SeaPlex and agree, the bumper cars line is the shortest. We also just walked around and relaxed until 1 when the staterooms are open.

P.S. I didn't get any service in the terminal (no wireless or even cell service) so download the app at home and make sure it's loaded and works before you get on the ship!

Also most public areas, restaurants (not the lido) and shops are on 4-6 with food (lido) and pools on the top decks.

Have fun!! I'm still dreaming of the cruise and it was only a month ago I was getting ready to set sail.

  12. What was the general dress on the formal nights?

A mixed bag from tuxedos to shorts and t-shirts. I wore my usual khaki pants and a polo. Two nights I went in wearing shorts and a polo, and no one said anything.

I kind of feel like the dress code is a joke and no one follows it and dresses whatever they want. I mean it is everyone's vacation, so they should feel comfortable enough, but maybe don't have formal nights and if you want to dress formal everynight then go ahead :) We saw people dressed up the last night of the cruise, I dressed down because the luggage had to go out at night.

  13. Voom price. Did you got it? How much you paid, ? How was the service? Did the price change on board or its better to buy it before sailing. Txs

Im leaving on 11/4 to bahamas? I think, idk with mrs irma.

I didn't use the Voom, but I used my iMessaging and I don't think I incurred any extra charges using the wifi signal from the ship. There was free wifi in most ports, except Halifax, you couldn't access the wifi from the ship facing the terminal, only inside.

I also was able to use iTunes on my iPhone and stream music, also not sure if any extra fees were added, but my data usage doesn't seem to be up from what it usually is.

They did have a Voom special last two days for either $25 or $20 per device. They also had a staff person on hand at various times throughout the cruise to help those with connection issues.

  14. I'm on an upcoming canada/new england sailing. If there's one thing you'd say is "don't miss", what would it be. Excursion or otherwise. Still trying to plan out exactly what we want to do while up there.

Don't miss the shows. They are so technological and the production is amazing on all of them (Gift, Spectra and We Will Rock You.)

Another tip is reserve, reserve, and reserve. They scan your card so if you try and get in without a reservation, you'll have to wait till open seating.

  15. I am fresh off the Anthem coming off of the 9 night Canada/New England cruise. My sea legs are still there, and I swear the room is swaying......ahh the after affects of a cruise :)

I'll write a review with some pictures soon, but wanted to open the floor for any up-coming cruisers with questions.

Don't let the negative reviews deter you from having a good time. Yes the ship is big, and yes there are thousands of people, but on my cruise there was always a chair by the indoor and outdoor pool (not the solarium), and a table in the Windjammer Marketplace (buffet) if you looked around. It's like finding a parking spot, you can't always get a pull out, so if you drive around, you'll find another one!

I promise this isn't turning into a review, but just remember that the public spaces with food and entertainment are really only on decks 3-5, and 13-16. The rest are staterooms, and while the ship has a mega layout, navigating it is pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Please feel free to ask any questions, and I'll try my best to answer them :)

Stay calm and cruise on!!! :D

  16. Love your review! I have read on several reviews now that the tender process in Bar Harbor is not very good. If you don't have a ship excursion, I guess you shouldn't think about getting off before 10 or 11 since you dock at 7? I'm assuming the first 1-2 hours are for those with ship excursions?

I'm also used to a promenade area and I really loved the one of Explorer of the Seas. I'll have to see how it compares when we sail this August :)
