  1. We have a rabbit named Felix. He is a German story book character that lost his owner in an airport and travels the world sending postcards home. Our neighbor, a first grade teacher, uses Felix as part of her geography lessons. She asked us to take him on one of our cruises and bring back pictures for her students. We had such positive feedback from people and he helped start great conversations. We will never travel without him again. And the kids loved the pictures too.

  2. Yes I am pretty happy with that price. I have major medical issues (yes I do get insurance) and so I normally do not book any room that cannot be easily cancelled. For that reason unless it is at the very last moment, I do not use Priceline. Saying that I have never had to cancel a trip even though it has been pretty iffy sometimes up until the last couple days whether I can even go. At this moment things look very good for this trip.

  3. We were in Nanortalik several years ago and there were also no shore excursions. We were told by Princess this was because of the lack of tour operators in the area. It is a very small village.

For us this was not a problem at all, we LOVED the stop so much that we have booked another cruise that stops in Qaqortoq this year. The locals were wonderful, put on a nice cultural show for everyone on the ship along with cookies and tea. There were also some hand made items for sale. We walked around the village, stopped at local stores and restaurants. They did fishing and kayaking demonstrations as well as there was a very interesting fish market. What a truly wonderful part of our world.

Many of the cruise passengers were convinced that we would not make it to Nanortalik because of weather conditions, but we were one of the lucky ships and made it in, no problem.

The local currency is Danish Kroner, but we saw passengers paying with dollars and Euros. I would be concerned about the exchange rate though. They would only give change in Danish Kroner.

    Enjoy your time there!

  4. My husband and I just got off the Zaandam two weeks ago. For us Anytime Dining is the only option. We love the flexibility to eat when we are hungry and when we are ready. We usually ask for a large table to meet new people every night, however if we want to sit alone we can do that too. We found the service wonderful and were always seated immediately, we never made a reservation. We found a particular waiter we liked, and just asked to be set in his section, not a problem. Every new tablemate had a wonderful story to tell and we made lots of new friends. I can understand if you are a large group, then fixed seating could be preferable, but for the two of us Anytime is better.
