As I understand it, the two devices will detect each other using Bluetooth and then set up an ad-hoc WiFi connection to make the transfer. That's why WiFi needs to be enabled to use it, though no connection to a WiFi hotspot is required.

    I’ll test that out.   Thanks!

One device at a time per person (when you try to log in on a second device it will give you an option to disconnect the first device or to buy more devices). On a 7 day cruise I was given the option of adding 3 more devices for a total of $40 and a $30 upgrade to the premium wifi. These charges would also be per person (but could be bought by one person only as the accounts are separate).

    Hmmm.  It’s a 24 day cruise.

I tested this out by putting my phone in airplane mode and trying to airdrop a photo to my wifi connected iPad.   Received the message “turn on wi-if to share with AirDrop”. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s one device connected at a time, per account. You and your husband would have separate accounts.

For transfers between Apple devices in the same room, Internet access is not required. AirDrop and other Bluetooth tools will work- no extra cost, no extra equipment.

Thank you!  I forgot about Air drop.

  5. Anyone know how many devices can simultaneous connect on the Have it All (“surf”) plan?  My husband and I each have an iPhone and iPad.  I would like to be able to have both my devices connected at once so I can transfer my iPhone photos to the iPad for my blog.   Thanks all!

we coupled a QM2 crossing with a river cruise b4 covid. We also did some land days between legs. Biggest issue for use was the Cunard dress code which they DO enforce -  on QM2 anyway . . . We had to drag what amounted to two sets of clothes: one for the land and river portions and another for QM2 .... a couple of long dress for Mrs, a suit/tux and another jacket for me ... dress slacks ... dress shoes.

It nearly doubled what we would have carried without the Cunard leg ....

Several years ago, we did both an east and west Cunard TA with several weeks on land in between.   We packed as light as possible - a 24 in suitcase each and a backpack.  I will have to revive that packing list.   Although we will need some cold weather gear this time.  If it happens.

One concern which comes to mind is what you would do if one or two of the cruises were cancelled - or possibly diverted - leaving you with substantial “dead time” between remaining legs - requiring  replacement transportation (and other) arrangements.

We do worry about that.   I’m thinking the cancel for any reason type insurance might be wise, in which case we could hopefully fly home.

  8. Covid willing, we have a 60 day “4 Boat” trip planned this year.  1) Cunard transatlantic NYC to Southampton, 2) British isle cruise, roundtrip Southampton,  with Princess 3) Scenic river cruise on the Seine, roundtrip Paris and 4) HAL Baltic Gems, leaving from Amsterdam and TA back to NY.

There are a couple days between each leg and we will take trains to get to each departure.

    Any concerns?

    thanks.

St. Peter Port on Guernsey is a small town and walkable.  We visited Castle Cornet and spent two hours there on a self guided tour.  There is an entrance fee - 10.50 BP each.  As we were in port for a short day, after the castle we only took the time to have a nice lunch and then we had to wait in a long line for the tender boats to take us back to the ship.

We didn't go to Cork but stayed in Cobh and it also was very walkable.  We saw the Colman Cathedral, the "deck of card" houses, the Lusitania Memorial, statue of Annie Moore and brothers, the Titanic Museum and walked along the harbour street to see the shops.

Thanks, Barb.   This sounds just right for us.

Aug. 22, 2012 QM2...3 weeks( one over, one to Norway, one back to NY) Only deposit. Hoping this might actually happen, but am resigned to the fact that there's an excellent chance it won't go. Figure if we throw enough "stuff" at the wall, eventually something will stick.

We are on the 8/22 crossing, returning on the 9/24 🤞

  11. Called Cunard today and was able to rebook our April (eastbound) and May (westbound) with no loss of our investment.   We rebooked for August and September next year - the price was a little higher and no complementary gratuities - but plenty of time to watch for better deals.   I have to say I am quite happy with the service.   And, For the first time, we purchased the Cunard Care 😉
