If you upgraded from the basic booze to the Prestige package, there is no charge for cocktails on O ships as long as there is a bar open AND you’re not ordering the top shelf single malt scotches and highest end cognacs.

    Gratuities are included too.
Also, if you upgraded, you would need to get a new key card with the upgrade notated or else you would then be charged the full price of the drink.

As for the “arrival” time you selected for embarkation, that time is for when you should enter the terminal. Depending on the specific port, what then happens may vary. Usually there are separate lines for different cabin levels and the highest category ones have priority in completing the check-in process. As for “room readiness,” that’s done by cabin category. So when you embark and when you can access your cabin are two different things.

Just like there’s no self-service allowed in the casual restaurant/buffet, there are no ice machines to keep passengers from touching food products (including ice) with their grubby hands. This is actually a feature that helped many passengers choose O for sanitary/food safety reasons.

My hubby tried to order woodford and it was going to be 25.00. I don’t consider that top shelf. We confirmed with the beverage manager that it was 25.00, even though we paid for Orestige. Anything over 18.00 is the full price. But that’s the thing about “self-service” - my point is you can self serve the iced tea, lemonade, all condiments but no ice.

  2. This is our 30th cruise, but first on Vista. We have been on the majority of the lines. Vista is gorgeous and the food outweighs the others, in my opinion. I’m providing this information because my hubby and I keep saying “does that make sense?” Maybe it doesn’t matter to others, but it is some of the things I didn’t know before this cruise.
    * there is no ice machine. You have to ask for ice that they get from an ice chest. I was walking around the Terrace Cafe in search of ice and was baffled that there are fill stations for ice tea and lemonade, but no ice.
    * if you upgrade your drink package, which we did, and a drink cost 25.00, you pay the whole 25.00. We are use to Celebrity where you would just pay the difference between the max (18.00) and the 25.00.
    * if you have an 11:00 arrival time reserved, they call the higher cabins for noon and later first. My hubby and I kinda looked at each other funny when at 11:15 they called the noon suites.

    Happy sailing!

  3. Just to follow-up from my previous post. The supervisor listened to our recorded conversation when we booked directly with Celebrity’s sales department. He confirmed the agent told us we had the perks and so he added them back for us. For those that said we had access to retreat because we were in a suite, we did not (booking code the agent used). The supervisor also added that back in since the sales department failed to add it to our reservation. I learned quite a few lessons here and I’m very grateful for all the wonderful people here on cruise critic for the help.

If you have a suite, yes you have access…

I agree... but when we called Celebrity (2 different agents) said something along the lines of yes, you are in a suite, so you have access. But then looked at the rate (Simply Sail) and said with the Simply Sail, there is no access. I agree with you, doesn't make sense. My point to all of this is, even if you call Celebrity to ask questions, you may not get the right answer.

Did you not, eventually, get a copy of your reservation???

All pertinent info will be there... if not, it can be ordered via phone without much human interaction to find out what you do or do not have.

    bon voyage

I don't care about having wifi, drinks, gratuities. I am simply trying to figure out if we have access to Luminae/Retreat. There is nothing on the copy of reservation that gives that detail and we are getting mixed answers from Celebrity.

I’d love to hear how this turns out. That seems really odd

I was told I would get a call back in 24-48 hours, and that didn't happen. I called back and was told the Supervisor was on vacation. The agent I spoke to said that the sales department (I booked directly with Celebrity) tells people untrue things all the time to get people to book. Lesson learned. At first, the agent said we would automatically have access to Retreat and Luminae (since we are booked in a suite). Then he said, oh wait, the promo you booked (Simply Sail) that even though you are in a suite, you won't have access to Retreat or Luminae.  When I go on the website and do a mock booking for the same promo, it says there is access. I didn't take a screen shot on the web when I booked, because I trusted the Celebrity agent to tell the truth. She said I had access. Another lesson learned as I will book myself on the web in the future so I can see things for myself and take screen shots. This is my 32nd cruise (several on Celebrity) and have never had a problem.

  7. I booked directly with Celebrity and specifically asked if we had perks. I was told "you are in a suite, so everything is included". Well, not true. Thanks to this thread, I called today to find out before boarding. BUT the interesting thing I wanted to point out here is that I was told today that even though I am in a Sky Suite on the Edge that I won't have access to Retreat. Seems odd. I am waiting on a call back from a Supervisor to confirm.

On our Apex cruise departing from FLL on April 2, the Grand Cayman shore excursions have been marked as "sold out" one by one over the last few days, leaving only a handful excursions available for booking. We were three persons booked on a stingray excursion, which was cancelled Thursday evening, then marked as "sold out" in PCP. I immideately booked another stingray excursion, but this was also cancelled within an hour, and marked as "sold out" (mind you it was fully available for booking less than an hour earlier!). I currently have yet another stingray excursion booked, which hasn't been cancelled yet, but I can see where this is going. The two former excursions are now not available/visible in the PCP at all, together with several other excursions (including the helicopter flight).

Just for backup, I have also booked a stingray excursion in Bimini, in case Grand Cayman (expectedly) gets scrapped.

For our Edge cruise March 27, it still shows all excursions available for Grand Cayman. I doubt we will be stopping there.
