We were free to "wander around" in all countries.  In Paris on the pre we freely roamed the city with CDC card entrance to businesses and restaurants.  On the post in Venice we spent every day wandering the city (with masks) with no restrictions.  We even went to Murano for the day.  It is always a joy to take a tour and then stay in town afterwards to shop and eat.  Plan, book and go!!!!!

We just returned from a Paris to Normandy river cruise followed by the Empires of the Mediterranean ocean cruise. The river Fjorgyn had 97 guests and the Viking Sea had 487 guests, almost half capacity. By following full vaccination requirements daily saliva tests, 100% masks and contact tracing both cruises finished with “NO” positive tests.  Masks were worn on tours, also. In some towns masks were not necessary outside; CDC cards & masks to enter museums and some restaurants; you were free to roam around after tours to shop,and Viking’s cleaning standards were higher than normal. Fantastic holiday to see Cities in France; Athens, Santorini, Corfu Greece; Croatia, Slovenia and Venice, Italy.

We will be onboard for the Oct 11 sailing.  Doing a Viking River Paris to Normandy first then fly to Athens.  I will buy the beer and wine for the evening meal.  (LOL)

14 days away from another Viking  back to back river-ocean cruise and have dining questions from those who have been on recent 2021 cruises.  We have 3 couples traveling together. We know dining tables are spaced for social distancing but when out on the Aquavit Terrace, pool side or in dining rooms is it possible to have 6 seated together at meals?  Is there a seating difference whether inside or outside?  

We have been on Viking cruises many times but with the COVID outbreak I have a general question. I have not approached Viking with my concerns but am looking for some comments before the phone call. We have a cruise in October 11,2021.  I see that Viking has overall control of guests while on a tour but are they free to leave the ship for casual sightseeing, in town, on their own after the tour?  Also does Viking prevent you from leaving the hotel on free time during the pre?  

We did a butterfly cruise on the Viking Sky in 2019.  It was a 31 day ocean cruise called “ Majestic Fjords & Vibrant Russia”.  This was two cruises jammed together and it was wonderful since we stayed in the same cabin for the entire trip. We have also been on the Grand European river from Amsterdam to Budapest.  Totally suggest doing a river trip first then the ocean as the ocean cruise portion is more relaxing.  We are doing a Paris to  Normandy this October then flying to Athens for an Empires of the Mediterranean.  If you fly the long trip to Europe then stay longer to make the experience worthwhile.

We are doing a pre in Athens before the Empires of the Mediterranean.  If you have done a cruise from Athens what hotel did Viking book you into?  

We also have a 2021 June eastern Med ocean and Paris River cruise booked.  We are hoping but the EU is not fully open and international air is severely restricted.  We are just having a drink, crossing our fingers and have a plan "B" in place.

Planning 2 day post cruise stay in Istanbul. Has anyone ever done this?  As it stands the Sky arrives in port on Day 14 @ 7:00 am with no tours offered. On day 15 we tour the city and then to the hotel.  The post extension shows 2 tours but the literature mentions a day on your own. Viking said excursions are identified on the website but seemed confused.  Are we wasting our time staying over 2 days in Istanbul?

Just booked this trip for June 2021, Venice to Instanbul.  Booked a DV4 to be near another couple that will be on their first Viking cruise. Has anyone been on this cruise and how was it?  Looking forward to another Viking cruise.

Looking into 2021 Sky cruise only cabins available are dv4 cabins 4080 & 4082. Please, are their any obstructions or problems with this deck 4 location, aft port side?
