I wonder if Royal has State Farm?

I saw they are covering Cheryl's She Shed.

I know this is funny, however, I have been a State Farm customer since I turned 18 and bought my first car in 1967, since then , more and more cars, trucks, boats, 2 homes and they have been there for me if I needed them.  When Hurricane Michael hit us on Oct.10, 2018, I filed a claim and immediately we had 2 adjusters come to our house and spend over 4 hours assessing our damages.  In a few weeks we received 1 check to get started buying tarps and things to protect our property and in another week or two, we received a very large check to start repairing and replacing, then as projects got repaired or replaced we sent the completed invoice and was reimbursed  for the actual cash value, no depreciation .  Also got checks for the Toyota truck and the Hyundai Sonata.  We got contents check also,  My She Shed was split in half , so I got a new She Shed for $10,000 built on my property.  I am 71 years old and will probably die being a State Farm customer,

Thank you for sharing your story and congratulations on your anniversary!  It's sad how soon those of us forget and move on after disasters. I was just wondering about donating, but wonder where the money goes. Best wishes to you,!

Thank you!  People have been lied too, scammed and more .  That is why we are only using local contractors that are licensed, and insured.

  3. N0.  I was on a cruise ship once and we left Cozumel late afternoon, everything was fine and later that night cruising the waters got really rough and everybody was throwing up and the lobby was full of people who couldn't stay in their rooms.  I have a video of it.  Babies can't talk to you and they might be in pain.  The norovirus is very contagious also.

I live about 100 miles from Panama City and we had a lot of minor damage in our area from Michael but still were without power for a week.  Orlando is only about 50 miles from Port Canaveral.  So the impact of these storms can be very widespread.  But my inconvenience for a week was nothing compared to what the counties to my west experienced.  I can drive a bit west on the interstate and all of a sudden all of the trees are leveled.  It's really surreal.

We live 100 miles west of Tallahassee.  You are right, even Calhoun and Liberty counties which are east of us, but west of you were damaged .  My niece lives in Calhoun county and they have acres and acres of property and they lost hundreds of pine trees.

@bc cruiser Wow! Congrats on so many years of being together, and kudos for keeping a hopeful outlook despite getting pummeled 2 years in a row! I haven't seen much info on the recovery from Michael, so your experience is very instructive. It also shows how long the Bahamas may take to recover from Dorian.

Good luck on your cruise, and, 8 days early, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Thank you!  Fema is still picking up hurricane debris and it has been almost 11 months.  So many people lost everything and moved away, so county had to close 3 schools.  We had no power or water (city water) for over 2 weeks.  We bought a generator and survived with bottle water for everything.  The worst was taking a shower and shampooing your hair with a water bottle.  A few merchants have repaired or rebuilt but the county is only about 30% rebuilt.

  6. Hi everyone, I live in Panama City, Fl. (850-Strong).  On Oct. 10, 2018 we stayed in our home and rode out Hurricane Michael, a category 5.  It took us 5 months before we could get a roof back on our home.  We live on a cul-de-sac and when we walked out of our home, we didn't recognize our neighborhood.  I have lived here all my life and never experienced a hurricane like Michael, so folks I don't believe Coco Cay will reopen for a very long time.  We just got our Motorhome out of the repair shop, it had over $18, 000 damage from the hurricane.  We lived in it with blue tarps over the entire MH until June, 2019.  Our home is still not completely repaired, but we can live in some rooms, and we booked a cruise on Mariner for Sept. 23, 2019 last year before the storm hit us, and we probably will not be going to Coco Cay either.    RCCL does their best to keep you safe, so if you book and your cruise doesn't go as planned, just be thankful they do what they think is best for your safety.  We always buy insurance to protect us, and we had to

use it in Sept.2017, we had to cancel our cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale, because the roads were blocked between the panhandle and there, we were going to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, so we rebooked a cruise for October 21, 2018 and Hurricane Michael hit us on Oct. 10, 2018 and we couldn't leave our home because of all the damages, so again we are trying for Sept. 23, 2019.  Our anniversary is Sept. 9th.

  7. I am trying to decide between Homewood Suites and Country Inn and Suites at Port Canaveral for the park and go package, so does any one have comments on their prior stays at either of these.  The prices are not that much of a decision, just want the one that is the cleanest and parking on site and not leaving my key with them.  Thanks for any suggestions.  We live in Panama City, Fl., where Hurricane Michael hit on Oct. 10, 2018, so we need a vacation .  We had to cancel the one for Oct. 21, 2018 to repair our home, car, truck and motorhome.

  8. Thanks everyone for the concerns for us. The governor just ordered more national guard troops to come here to help out. They have ordered mandatory evacuations now for 4 zones, my daughter's included. On top of all this stress, my sister just called me, and she lives alone and she called 911 and she is at the hospital with the flu and breathing problems. She didn't want anybody to know until now. I will go get her when they release her. Her husband passed away 6 years ago with cancer, our former cruise partners. Pray, pray for us, we are right in the target for landfall. We were just informed it will definitely be a high 3 or 4/5. The storm surge is on top of all this wind.:loudcry:

  9. We live in Panama City, Fl. and our daughter and son-in-law live at Panama City Beach, Florida, 2 blocks from the Gulf of Mexico, so we are preparing for Michael. Please keep everyone here in the panhandle of Fl. in your thoughts and prayers. My husband and I are supposed to sail on Oasis of the Seas on Oct. 21, 2018, that is if we don't have to cancel due to damages, insurance claims, roads and etc. We are driving down on the 20th if all goes well. Signed up for the roll call, passes done, etc., now just waiting on Michael to show its self.

  10. Labadee is not changed

11/4 - St. Maarten & San Juan changed to to Nassau & Falmouth

Thank you. I guess I read it fast and didn't see Labadee. Using the wording (changed) helped me to see what it meant. I love Labadee. Last time we zip-lined and loved it. We have another excursion booked this time. We have been to all the eastern and western ports, so it really doesn't matter. We were originally sailing on the Sept. 9th, so had to rebook.

  11. Eight sailings, Sept 30th through Nov. 18th

Both people required to purchase for cruise planner purchases, will have to wait a few more days to find out if they are enforcing the test on board.

Is this requirement for all beverage packages, or just ultimate ones. I bought the refreshment package recently and only had to buy one for myself on Harmony sailing Nov. 4-11th, 2017

  12. We were on the delayed Allure September 10th sailing. We received the credit by email a couple of days ago. I had sent an email the day before asking when we would get it.

Thank you. I found a cruise I wanted to use it for, so I called and a really nice lady in resolutions applied it to the cruise. I have another one coming by e-mail, as this cruise I rebooked was cheaper.

  13. Hi. We have received cruise credit after hurricane Irma. This has come in the form of a certificate in each of our names (mum dad and two adult children). Seeing as our children didn't pay for the cruise and may not cruise with us in the next two years we'd like all of the credit to ourselves. Royal Caribbean say no. Have any of you been through this with them and managed to transfer or use the certificate in your children's names?

    Thanks

How did you receive your FCC, by mail, or E-mail? What was your original sailing date and what ship? We are still waiting on our FCC from RCCL, as we had to cancel our Sept. 9th sailing due to Irma. Thanks for any info you can give me. We were scheduled for Harmony of the Seas.

  14. Thanks. We're in and seated in the AC.

Did you notice any cars that were flooded in the cruise parking lot? We didn't make it, we tried but the roads and traffic backups were bad between Panama City, Fl and Ocala. They had a lock down in St. Johns County last night and at the I 75 and I 10 interchange, it was underwater. They just opened I 75 at that area this morning, so we called and got the FCC. We had insurance but we knew we wanted to rebook the Harmony, so credit was fine. Insurance was purchased for medical issues if needed. Hope everyone has a wonderful time. You can finally relax.

    :)

  15. Well, I had to fly from NY, so I knew it would be mighty doubtful to be able to get there, a hotel, etc. if Irma was, well, what they predicted. No way I would drive that far alone either.

I, and my TA, started to seek altneratives. However, due to certain specifics, the only one would be Allure 10/29 (pretty much until 12/1). I haven't even told my boss I've rescheduled (all he wanted to know was if I was being "stupid" and riding it out in FLL when he was evacuating Miami). ;p

Hope you get to reschedule and it works out for you!

    Thank you. Enjoy your cruise:D

  16. Mine was e-mailed on the 8th - the day I rebooked Allure for October 29th. (was Allure 10th).

Originally I had been told 2 - 4 weeks (but, maybe it was expedited so I could rebook since a cabin was being held for me at that point).

Thank you for the information. We had to cancel late, so we didn't have time to research another cruise. It is 550 miles from where we live in Florida to Ft. Lauderdale. We live on the Gulf of Mexico side in the Panhandle. We tried to get down there but didn't happen, even willing to drive all night. We have been on the Allure and loved it.

  17. I know my FCC for the 9/10 Allure stated nothing about a booking deadline; however, it DID state that the replacement cruise HAD to start by September 8th of 2018 (within one year).

Again, as with all cruise lines, YMMV.

How long did it take to get your FCC once you cancelled? I live in the panhandle of Florida and we were to sail on Harmony on Sept. 9th, but when they changed to 4 nights, sailing on the 12th, we thought we would still drive to Port Everglades and get on it, however last night we couldn't get very far on the highways because of road closures, so we are back home and I called this morning and cancelled for FCC, that said it would be approximately 14 days or more for us to receive it and the other prepaid things would be credited to our credit card. The gentleman that helped us was very nice. He did say that we had 1 year to rebook.

  18. Just drove down from Orlando. Very easy. No issue. Might be an option.

Hi, this bc cruiser from Panama City, Fl. I just called the port and they said the coast guard had not approved the opening of the port, that the coast guard was still assessing the port damage estimates. I called the resolution dept for RCCL and they said to call the port and ask them. I had already called the port. Did you get a hotel for the night? If you know anything on this status, will you post on here. Thank you. Did you travel on 75 or turnpike?

  19. My husband and I are still waiting till Monday night to see the damage in that area and if the port will open for sure, cause we want to sail on the 4 night cruise but Ft.Lauderdale airport is not supposed to open till noon, so we plan on driving the 550 miles starting late Monday night if the roads are open and gas available. This was supposed to be our 50th anniversary cruise. Our anniversary was yesterday (the original 1st day of our cruise.)

  20. So what do you think the odds are that this will get canceled? I have insurance. I am worried that I will cancel and something will not pan out with my claim and I won't even get the cruise voucher. The insurance company has told me six different things in the past two days.

    EDITQUOTEmultiquote_off.gif

We are in the same situation as you, we have insurance but we would like to take the 4 night offer for Harmony with the 50% refundable OBC and 50% FCC, but we are waiting until Monday to make a decision, as we are not sure if ports will be open and running and if we can negas and if roads are clear to drive down to Ft. Lauderdale. We live in northwest florida on the gulf of mexico. I called their customer service this evening and I got a lady that gave me wrong information. I kept telling her she was giving me the information on Oasis, not Harmony. I finally told her to transfer me to a supervisor and she hung up. Prayers for everyone . One of my daughter's friends had to stay in St. Thomas at a resort. They were down there before it got bad and they tried for several days and couldn't get a flight out. My daughter lost touch with her for about 10 hours, thankfully today she got a message to her mom that they were okay but didn't know when they would be able to come home. Her last message to everyone was " the walls are shaking here at the Marriott".

  21. I feel the need to jump in here. You've booked a week long cruise leaving on the 10th. RC is attempting to be accomodating by offering the discounts and sailing on a shortened itinerary departing on the 13th. You said that "if you cannot cruise on the 13th".... if you booked a week long voyage, why wouldn't be able to cruise on the 13th? Assume such people work and have booked holidays, the 13th shouldn't be an issue in departing on that date.

Now, to address the safety concerns and deeper issues, sure you have a point, but if passengers choose to cruise, that's up to them due to the acommodations that RC is making. Granted, it's not RC's fault that the hurricane occurred, however, they are making accomodations.

I'm on a March break cruise with the family and as of now, St. Maarten no longer exists, and St. Kitts and Antigua probably won't be there either. I'm sure by then, RC will make accomodations......otherwise,we spend the week in PR (if that's still there too).

    Just my two cents.

We are supposed to be on Harmony on the 9th, but it will sail on the 12th for 4 nights instead, with a 50% refundable OBC and 50% off a future cruise. This is a good offer, however we live in Panama City, Fl., which is 550 miles from Ft. Lauderdale and the highways might be damaged, plus it might be hard to find gas, also will the port and staff be able to open. Yes, we did buy insurance but you only get a75% refund. I am going to call tomorrow and ask what is the latest time to make a decision.
