  1. Hi All,

We were thinking of booking the Carnvial Radiance for Feb of next year.  Seeing how the refurb is delayed, and I've heard talk of it getting super pushed out, we were concerned about the deposit.  We called Carnival, but honestly, I think I knew more about the ship than the person who took our call.

Anyway, my questions - say the refurb doesn't happen:

    (1) if they cancel the cruise, we'll get the deposit back since it was on them, correct?

    (2) if they do the old switcheroo, and change the ship (but no the route or itinerary) to one we're not keen on taking - could we get our deposit back?

Anyway, wondering if anyone has any experience with this kind of situation or inisight into what would happen.

    Thanks!  Be well!

There was no extra screening before my cruise started on 2/22.  Have you traveled to China within the last 14 days?  Have you had the flu in the last 7 days?  Assuming you said no to both you immediately were granted access.

They could be cleaning extra, but I haven’t seen it personally (doesn’t mean it’s not happening though).  And definitely no captain’s announcement twice a day.

Same experience leaving Bayonne on 2/15.  The lack of screening was actually a little surprising.  Everything turned out fine though.

How is it with 2 ships there? We are on the Anthem and Mariner is also scheduled to be there on March 18th.

We were there last week, we were on the Anthem and the Mariner was there as well.  We got off the boat early-ish - ca. 9am., and had no trouble finding a sweet place by the pool.  There were tons of open spots on the beaches.  To note: the week we were on the Anthem was also the week that NY state kids have off for winter break (don't know about NJ or CT), so the boat was loaded with kids/families (which the crew had mentioned several times, upward of 1400 kids on the boat).

That being said, Cococay never felt overwhelmingly crowded.  I had no problem getting drinks at the bar, service at the seat, and there were no lines anywhere.

  4. We were at Cococay last week (2/20) on the Anthem.  Beautiful day.  The Mariner was there too.  We got off our boat early-ish and found a sweet spot over by the oasis lagoon pool (spots filled up here by midday, but we noticed plenty of open locations on the beaches when we walked around).  We bought water park passes for the family, which was our only excursion paid for during our trip.  Totally worth it.  The kids (12 and 9) LOVED it.

The tall slide (red one - Daredevils peak) was very cool (i'm 43, went down with my daughter - holy crap that thing is fast - try not to curse in surprise as the sound waves will echo back up to everyone waiting on line... I may have embarrassed my daughter a bit.. lol).  They have a two-stage line to keep things manageable.  Go to the kiosk at the stairs and they'll give you a card with a half-hour block to come back to wait on line.  We went around 9:15 and got the 9:30-10 am block.  By the time we were off the slide, they were giving cards an  hour later.   At 2 pm, they stop this system and just do normal lines.  My daughter waited twice after this point and was able to go with not too much waiting.

The other slides - especially Slipknot and the other duo one were super fun.  Lines were a little bit time-consuming here, but not long.  The other slides on the main structure were super fun as well - not very long waits.  There's also a wave pool in the waterpark which I enjoyed tremendously.

Overall, the place didn't feel too crazy or crowded.  My only tip would be to not walk around barefoot.  I did for most of the day, then realized my feet are not accustomed to that.  By the end of the day the base of my heels were killing me.  Still felt it the next day - brutal!  Lol.
