  1. Have a cruise booked May 12 and cannot get into the website today. A month ago Celebrity helped me change our passwords and I did so with an agent from Celebrity walking me through the steps, so very hesitant to try again. Have gotten the message today that the problem is on their end.  All checked in a week ago (I HOPE) but cannot print luggage tags. Sure hope this resolves soon.

If you purchase internet, would you be able to connect your Kindle to it and download that way or is their internet limited in some way and won't connect to everything?

I have always, on past cruises when connected to the internet, been able to use Facebook, send photos and email from my Kindle Fire 10, but never tried downloading books as I always do that before I leave home.

  3. My husband and I drove over 300 miles each way from our home in northeast Florida to south Miami (Coral Gables) to the only Brazilian embassy office in Florida and applied for our visas in person. We made a definite appointment time in advance and had to bring postal money orders for the payment. (Left very early AM and arrived home mid evening).. We left stamped and addressed envelopes with them and they mailed the completed visas back to us in a week or two.  We did not want to take any chances  as were really looking forward to our South American cruise which included a week going up the Amazon River to Manaus and back!

  4. We just about always book B2B sailings separately. The trade-off for us is that we almost always have to change cabins on the turn-over days.  Further complication is that when we bid to upgrade and it is approved, in our considerable experience,  it is always just for 1 of the legs so have to change cabins and usually floors and/or sides of the ship. No biggee for us as we always book some kind of shore excursion on turn-around days, pack our "stacks" and drawer items in our suitcases the night before and leave suitcases in the closet area, then all our hanging clothes are transferred to our new cabin while we are on tour.  The double perks are definitely worth it for us and more times than not, booking as two (or more) separate sailings costs LESS.

You all do realize that Princess internet is the absolute lowest priced of any of the major cruise brands?  Most others charge upwards of $20-25/day for similar internet service.  The fact that you get a 50% reduction as elite makes it even more cost effective.  $9.95/day for a 1 device package ($5/day after elite discount) is an absolute BARGAIN!!!!!!!

Not for those of us who used to get a set number of hours free as a reward for loyalty its not. Guess it is all relative.

  6. Just finished getting the green light setting up our accounts on the Medallion app for our April 16 TA sailing on Emerald. This will be our first Princess cruise since pre-covid days and the first time using Medallions as our last cruise was on the Pacific Princess which was our favorite ship. We were spoiled for years getting some free internet each cruise as Platinums or Elites and it was always sufficient to occasionally check email, send a few pics back home on Facebook, and check our post cruise reservations and flights. Simple needs as not particularly tech savvy or needy. Got a shock today. All we are offered via Medallion pre-cruise for our TA is a 1 or 4 device plans. Least expensive cost WITH OUR 50% discount) - $75..  We feel that is outrageous. Thought I read there was a 1 day plan? Guess if there is, it is only offered on board. Other thoughts?

We got an Appreciation Rate when we booked, or so we were just told by both MSC and our TA who were just on the phone simultaneously with us. Bottom line after more than an hour on calls: we just get 2/ $50. OBC's for our sailing, but that is $100. more than we started the day with and we are Diamond in a  deck 11 larger balcony!!!

Just so everyone is clear, it should be two 50's *per person* (assuming you are both Silver or higher).

This would should as four $50 credits.

When we first went there, it was a lot of quaint mud huts, dirt roads, etc.  Really rural.  We have been back as later cruise ports stopped at Costa Maya and each time it had progressed.  Last time we were there about 5 years ago, it had paved streets and almost all shops were now touristy with lots of bars.  We used to really enjoy taking school supplies to the little school there but has grown now (and CC board frowns on discussing taking supplies now) but it is still a nice place to visit.  We would sometimes take a taxi but the most entertaining way to get there was to rent a golf cart at the port and it is a short drive.  In the Costa Maya part, it is clean and well developed and run by the cruise industry/Mexican govt or such.  At Majahual, it felt much more like you were support really local businesses.

We have walked to Majahual twice and then taken a taxi back to port. We walk 5 miles a day for exercise plus live in Florida with the heat and humdity so much easier for us as it is at least 2 miles of walking just to get to the little village. Love the local feel of Majahual! Last trip we bargained for 4 gorgeous Magarita glasses that are our pride and joy when we have guests! Right after we purchased them I poceeded to "wash" two of them in the sea and then we poured our $5. margaritas served in plastic cups into our new glasses!

  10. We booked through a big box travel agency back in the spring when they had a really big sale on our sailing for a extra balcony cabin on deck 11 and at that time we knew nothing about Voyager Club discounts or OBS (we are Diamonds).  Thanks so much for posting this!!!!  Our TA got us each $50. OBC but that was all she could wrangle for us today.  So now we have saved the link and will always go there first to look for MSC cruises and not leave the OBC behind again ! Until today we had NONE!!!!! Just can't bother our TA again, but anyone think it is worth a call to MSC directly today to try and get that second set of OBS's? We leave on the Divina this Sunday!!!!

I don’t know how I’ve never seen this before, Lord knows I spend enough time on here 🙈

I concur!!!  This will be our third MSC sailing and we are Diamonds through a match with our Princess status, Never saw talk of this before and called my TA  (she too had no knowledge) but will be calling MSC in the morning on our behalf as I see our Divina sailing is on the list!  Thank you so much for sharing this great tip and hoping it works out for us like others have mentioned!

Our first MSC cruise was in 2002.  The buffet at breakfast and lunch consisted of two items each.  We didn't learn until well into the 12 days that we should have gone to the dining room.

There was no self-serve coffee other than at mealtime.  So the current offerings are far superior.

We had robes in our cabin in 2019.  Maybe a Black Card amenity?

Robes and slippers in 2019 for us but we are black card members too. I am going to miss the drink coupons we had as a Fantastica benefit that was AWESOME!

Most likely, they will wait until your bags have been delivered to your room (3:00-4:00) and have them removed from the ship. There is no way to pull your bags once they have been dropped with a porter.

Not true from my personal experience a coupled years ago.  My husband was dropping off our car at an offsite parking lot in Miami and it appeared he was not going to make it back to the ship in time for sail away.  (This affected a number of guests as there was a strike or something and the shuttles were non-existent or way behind.)  I had NCL pull our luggage that we had dropped off hours before and I was standing with it just inside the terminal building by the check in desks when hubby miraculously appeared with another couple whom he had shared an Uber ride with from the parking area so my story had a happy ending and we had a great cruise in spite of the harrowing start!!! (NCL ended up holding off sail away for a couple more hours but did not now that when my luggage was pulled!

I am assuming NCL requires some form of a statement showing stock ownership from your broker or account. Am I correct? Also, with CCL, it had to be dated 30 days or less from sailing. Is this the same with NCL?

    Thanks!

Yes. It states most current months report from broker or your account.

  15. We have sailed the Jade twice. First time in 2009 on a 21 day B2B in port side obstructed view cabin 8064.  Loved that cabin and we had a decent view from a place on the right side of window. I remember being able to see the ports each day if we were facing them and we were port in more than half the time. The view of Malta was particularly memorable. We had always sailed in inside cabins on previous sailings so this was a real treat for us.

In November 2019 we sailed the Jade again. That time, our last cruise until - hopefully - this November, in a 9th floor balcony cabin, again a 21 day sailing.  Love the Jade!
