  1. Hello Haven Cruisers !

I have a unique question for you all.

We are planning our next cruise for January in the Haven.

We will be traveling with an elderly parent. She has mobility issues.

Has anyone had experience working with your Butler to get breakfast, lunch, and dinner served in your room? ( or at least 2 meals a day.)

Of course we would speak with the butler and tip accordingly.

Has anyone had experience with this type of situation?

@mearsfansinboise "Hoity-toity", LOL.  The Haven menu never changes.  For some, that is an issue.  It is nice you can order, with advanced notice, items from the Main Dining Room Menu or have your butler bring it.  I want to add.  in 2019 the small, round chocolate cake served in the Haven was different.  Back then, I was obsessed over it.  In November 2021, I had the opportunity to have it again.  It was NOT the same.  I was disappointed.  UNTIL, I went back on the Joy three months later, when to Cagney's for dinner and had the slice of Chocolate Cake.  There it was, the taste I missed.  Just looked different.  I TRIED to get a slice from Cagney's to bring back to my room, more than willing to pay for it, on a recent trip on the NCL Breakaway.  They said NO.  I was again disappointed.  I had a craving for more CAKE.  I am so bad.

Cruise well and enjoy every moment.

    I agree 100 %

    That cake was special !

    on a slightly different topic...

And i'll add that "asking for " rather than "demanding" makes a world of difference.

We saw a couple demanding "this and that", and the staff did the best they could, but what a mess.

We asked our waiter at lunch if we could have a special "off menu" meal if we ordered in advance.

They gave us everything we asked for, and MORE.

All with a smile and they were happy that they could make it happen.

  3. I have a question for all you NCL Haven cruisers.

We've only taken 2 cruises. Both on NCL Escape, and believe it or not, we stayed in the same room both times !

Our first trip was in Jan. 2020

Our second trip was Jan. 2023

We noticed a change, did you ?

This could be the new staff or new management.

for example, In the past we had the same waiter in the Haven restaurant for almost every meal, he got to know our likes and dislikes. It was one of the best perks that the Haven has.

During our 2nd cruise we had a different waiter for every meal in the Haven Restaurant, without personalized attention.

And sitting on the sundeck, we couldn't get anyone to take a drink order or food.

The staff seemed overworked, friendly, but overworked.

    Your thoughts?

  4. I thought I would post my review of our cruise in Jan. 2023.

This is only our second cruise.

We're a gay couple in our 50's that really needed a relaxing vacation, and the NCL Escape/Haven was the perfect choice for us.

We love the Haven and all the staff that helped make our vacation wonderful.

Our Butler, Flor, was always there with a friendly smile and eager to help you with anything you might need. Lunch on the balcony, no problem. She kept our mini-fridge stocked with our favorite drinks. Our cabin steward Edwin kept our room spotless, and again, so friendly and helpful. The Haven restaurant hostess was always there with a friendly smile and so accommodating. One of our waiters, Jesus, was very prompt, friendly, and happy to offer suggestions. The concierge Dilip was always there to answer any questions with a smile, no matter how small the request.

Yes, the ship was full and could get quite crowded, but the Haven was the perfect compliment. Quiet, peaceful, and spotless.

The food ! We ate so much good food. The Haven restaurant was always top notch. (mushroom flatbread was a must for lunch) But we also dined at Cagneys and Le Bistro, and both were special and had amazing food. Cagneys Ribeye steak was perfection. Le Bisto offered an elegant atmosphere with perfectly prepared food.

Yes, there was a "loud" atmosphere at the main pool, but very festive.

We enjoyed the quiet of the Haven Pool and Sun deck.

And the Spa offered amazing massages, that we took advantage of our first full day at sea. A perfect way top start your vacation. My masseur Leah, gave a deep tissue massage that made me melt.

A big "Thank you" to everyone on this site, we got so much advance insights that helped make our vacation perfect !

    Safe cruising !

Question- Is the Haven Restaurant, pool & bar open when the ship is in Port, if you decide to stay on board?  I know most if not all of the complementary restaurants are closed - and only the Garden Cafe & O Sheehan's  is opened- we're not sure we'll be getting off at some of the tender ports- and if we do- it may not be long (Getaway)

Yes, The Haven restaurant is open on Port days.

We took advantage of an empty ship many times and loved it !

Not sure which ship you're on- but this flatbread does look yummy- just wondering is this something you could get as room service snack? (Our first Haven experience is in Mar on the Getaway)

We were on NCL Escape, and they had the flatbread on the lunch menu, we had it almost every day.

And one day we had our Butler deliver lunch to our balcony, with "room service" from the Haven Restaurant.

The food and service at the Haven restaurant was exceptional.

Hi, the same thing happened to me for a cruise in a few months.  I emailed with some requests and gluten/dairy free diet concerns for my granddaughter and received the canned response that I should hear from someone within 48 hours.  It’s been well over 2 weeks, and nothing yet!  Do you ever get a response?  Thanks.

We just returned from a trip on the Escape in the Haven.

They asked us at almost every meal, " Do you have any food allergies or anything we should know ?"

They seem to be very aware of allergies and seem very responsive to requests.

And I would let your hostess know about the allergies, I'm sure you'll be taken care of....
