  1. I was on the shortened Grandeur sailing and just got off the phone with RCI. I had been emailing and tried calling the number and extension of the woman who was handling my emails and when I put her extension in, it would hang up. I called and spoke to someone else and she told me the ship had to release the credit and it should have been done within a week. She said she would look into it and hopefully she can get it resolved within 5-7 business days. She told me they are working on the future cruise credit certificates and they should be mailed out soon. She also told me that if you are looking to book a cruise before you get the certificate and book with a travel agent you can reference your booking number and the money will come off.

  2. Just got off the Grandeur yesterday morning. It was not one of my favorite cruises. The solarium was nice as was the Park Cafe. The pool is not heated. Paul was one of my favorite cruise directors. The arial show was awesome. One of the things I didn't like was that they would put stuff for sale anywhere they could. They were selling merchandise on the pool deck and one day they had the the t-shirt sale up there. It started to feel like a flea market. They were constantly trying to sell drink packages everyday. Service in the dining room for dinner was so-so. We had a table for six and next us a couple sat a table for two and for some reason the waiters were bending over backwards for.. We noticed after the third night the couple would order and get at least six shrimp cocktails every night. The following night my husband, daughter and her boyfriend asked if they could get shrimp cocktails even though they weren't on the menu. Our waiter told them that he would have to check with the kitchen even though the two people were on their third. He brought some to our but made it sound like it was a big hassle. My mom and I would order tea with our dessert and sometimes wouldn't get it until after we were done, A couple times we got it with our dessert and a few times we didn't get it at all. I have sailed with Royal Caribbean four times before and have never gotten bad service before.

  3. My son is a 3rd and on his reservation it always shows as iii and on his passport it is 111. I was told that their computer system won' t let them put it as 111 or 3rd. He has been on 10 cruises and has never had an issue. I believe if the first and last name match it is not a problem.

  4. We were on the Miracle last September and we heard a few people missed the ship in the Bahamas. There was another Carnival ship in port that was leaving later and they let them board that ship that was heading back to Charleston. We still had a few days until we were heading back to NY. I don't know if they went into their cabins and packed up their luggage before our ship sailed and if they would have to pay anything to be on the other ship. I would guess that they would be on their own to find a way to get back to NY once the ship docked if they didn't have their luggage.

I always make sure I am on the ship at least an hour before it is set to sail. It has got to be the worst feeling to see your ship sailing away without you.
