  1. Some of the things I remember most about this cruise:

We were invited to sit at the Captain's table on Captain's night! We were all so honored, excited and NERVOUS! I have a photo somewhere of all of us! Wish I knew where to find it!

One of the captains (Greek - didn't speak English) took a liking to me and I remember moonlight walks on deck -(Very quiet because he didn't speak english) and I got to sit in the first row with him at the show! (he was cute!)

Our blow dryers kept blowing the circuit breakers, so our room steward had us plug in our dryers in a closet in the hallway. We were standing in bathrobes drying our hair in the hall!!!

The ship had a terrible list the entire trip! It was difficult navigating the narrow hallways because it was tilted so bad!

The food and service were INCREDIBLE!!!

Our "Singleworld" tour group was mistakenly 35 and OVER and the group looked like the cast from the movie Cocoon! We loved them all though!

"2-dollar pina colada's" on deck! I have a photo of my friend sitting in her lounge chair holding up two one dollar bills!

My dear friend Alyne crashing a moped into a police car in Bermuda!

    The amazing Midnight Buffet!

And the funniest thing of all - The last night, my friends were too busy having the time of their lives to pack their bags and put them outside the door - so me, being the OLDEST of the group (Mother Hen) packed everyone's belongings. Well, the next day, we got up and dressed for breakfast and disembarking... No one had shoes but me! I packed everyone's shoes!!! They had to disembark sans shoes and went without shoes the entire limo ride home! They still yell at me for that! LOL!

    I'll post pictures ASAP!

  2. I sailed her in 1987 - to Bermuda. We had to leave early due to a tropical storm. I remember our porthole looked like a washing machine window!

I was with my 3 best friends. We were between 20 and 23 years old!!! What a blast we had! August 1987...I think it was the 4th???

I have some pictures, I have to scan them to post them, but I will post them! I LOVE your pictures CruiseDivaNJ!

Hopefully I'll find the time to post them this week. I'm packing for my Explorer of the Seas cruise for 8/17! It's my first cruise since Amerikanis 20 years ago!!!! My DH and kids and I are soooo excited!!!

  3. After two weekend cruises to "No Where" on the SS Britanis, (1984 & 1985) I sailed on the Amerikanis with my three closest friends on a 7-day NYC to Bermuda Cruise - August 4th 1987. We were all in our early twenties! We had an enormous cabin! It was cabin L41 (I can't believe I still remember!) and it had two upper and two lower berths and a HUGE shower! When we were in Bermuda, we were hit with a tropical storm and had to leave early. I remember how rough the seas were and that they didn't allow passengers on the outside decks! The ship had a list the entire week of the cruise! Otherwise, it was clean, luxurious, the service and food were outstanding (at least in the opinion of a 23yr old!). It was a cruise I will never forget - we still laugh hysterically when we reminisce about our cruise!
