CCL would not refund my lost airfare even though the amount was only $85 pp and the cancellation was entirely caused by CCL. Not happy.
I would argue that Fincantieri is at fault. 3 Vista ships, 3 recurring bouts of propulsion issues...

Didn't have it when I sailed last November
-
Wouldn't surprise me if it's due to the coast guard having to clear the ship since its coming from "overseas" even though its the Bahamas. I was on the first Pride sailing last year after its TA from Lisbon and we didn't end up sailing until around 9pm

Yeah kind of defeats the purpose of having to select an appointment at check in doesn't it? As Plat and Diamond you already get the best times, so whats the big deal? Its not like you are getting on before the ship has been cleared.....

Just off the Pride a week ago. Frankie was asked what the dry dock would entail. This is what I recall.
- New paint job
- General maintenance
- 2 story nightclub being reduced to 1 level. The bottom level will be a dedicated chef's table area.
- They are adding some cabins but I don't recall if it was in the nightclub area or some where else.
- The most interesting change was another bank of elevators. Frankie wasn't sure where that was going.
- New paint job - she desperately needs that
- General maintenance - See above, while Pride is in pretty decent shape, shes old enough to drink now
- 2 story nightclub being reduced to 1 level - Chefs table on Pride is already in the lower deck of the night club, so nothing of note...
- They are adding some cabins... - There are no cabins on deck 2 or 3 so i can't imagine they would add any in place of the club on deck 3
- The most interesting change was another bank of elevators. Frankie wasn't sure where that was going - This is the most interesting one. Its common knowledge that Carnival sticks the Spirit ships in places with height restriction in the harbor, so I couldn't see a deck being added, but i *could* see them potentially chopping her in half and adding a section....Keeps the ship the same height and adds more rooms, plus more space for modern amenities on 2, 3, and Lido...Pride seems to get everything major first anyway, so it would be a good test, especially in Baltimore where there is pretty high demand

I was hoping to be excited about this, but I'm not.
We're between Baltimore and Norfolk, and the Norfolk itineraries don't add anything not available in Baltimore. Even the ships are similar.
I wouldn't call 14% more gross tonnage similar.

I was on most of them 20 years ago. I wish I had recorded and stored video of the ships better back then. I do have the cruise video of the Pride from 2014 that they used to sell. I miss those videos. I bought one for every cruise.
My first time on Pride was November 2013, and I don't recall access to the Sunset Garden area from outdoors, so it would have to go back into the early to mid 2000s if it was ever used. If I were them, I would remove the fire doors and set it up with the automatic doors similar to Mermaid grill

Spirit class also have the lovely, quirky interior promenade around the bow on deck 3. On Pride it’s called the Sunset Garden. Great place to go to sit by a large porthole and watch the ocean. Not much traffic, I think most don’t find it. If you go sit for awhile, traffic is mostly people exploring, or crew passing through. On Spirit it’s called The Jungle…and is full of…giraffes? EM
It's funny, because there are outside doors on deck 3 that lead into the interior promenade area, but I have never seen them open. There is also outdoor signage indicating that at some point, those doors were originally open for indoor/outdoor access, but now the entrance is "hidden" inside the theater entrance...I really wish we had some form of historical record on some of these ships to see how they were operated 20 years ago...

I thought I read somewhere a few months ago that Carnival was testing Starlink on a ship or two, could Celebration be one of those?

I cruised on her this past July and overall it was one of the worst experiences that I have had with Carnival in terms of some of the staff. Some of them were just not consistent with what I have experienced on pretty much every other cruise I have been on with CCL. However, I suspect she has a different staff by now. Some of the ship looks good, but other areas were in need of repair. Our suite was in decent condition (other than our shower never worked despite 3 repair attempts by staff) but my the adjoining balcony looked very well used. She is scheduled for dry dock next May. Most of the common areas were in decent shape for her age.
They brought on a ton of new crew when they got to Tampa after the TL, you could tell some were new, but never experienced an issue with any of them.

Just got off Pride on 11/19. We had one of the best cruises ever. Literally everything onboard was really great!

Someone also mentioned they were putting a big screen in for dive in movies. Can anyone confirm?
Rumor has it they were not happy with the screen install on Pride, so none of the other Spirits are getting it.

Based on the itineraries that Heald posted on that other site, looks like Baltimore is getting the Pride back in April of 2024! 🥰

If you are sailing in Europe on Pride, the following info applies:
The following voyages require fully vaccinated guests who are more than 6 months past the last dose of their initial vaccine series to be boosted in order to sail.
- Carnival Pride® and Carnival Celebration™ Europe – All 2022 departures
- (This info is from the Carnival website)
Pretty sure this also includes the TA back to Tampa in October

Apparently Italian ships are built as well as Italian cars....

Yep, had 8273 on Pride back in September and we had no noise issues.

Is there a "secret door" to go up front and watch the sail away?
Walk through the glass partition on deck 9 to go up front, there will be 2 glass doors up there, one is crew only (to the bridge), the next one (and it's easy to miss) will take you out on top of the bridge.

If you have DOU in the casino, you get them from the waiters/waitresses? The casino bartenders don’t like you to order from them? Do they just want to make sure you are playing? Is there anyway to check if both of us will have it? I remember getting the offer and booking and I thought it was for both of us…. Now I’m questioning that.
Technically you are supposed to be actively playing and can only order from wait staff. The reality is, they will get you a drink regardless, and you can order directly from the bar too.

Can I ask why? I’m on this trip and I also worry that the ship will feel small an crowded for a 16 day voyage.
They have the best space ratio of the fleet, and at the levels they have been sailing with lately, you will only have probably 1400-1600 passengers. The layout is also super easy.

Yeah I booked mine yesterday for Pride in late December. Both had 10+ tickets remaining. They are however offering 2 tours, so its actually now 32 people. Here is how it looks at the moment, so if you are on Pride for NYE this year, here's your shot
