  1. We have been to Alaska a few times, For my family of four we love just sitting on the balcony with coffee or sodas and enjoying the view. This cruise we have extended family traveling and I feel I need to have ideas ready for them. To be honest, I don’t want them in my room looking for stuff to do. They have all cruised and even done Alaska. I am just feeling the pressure to be the host as I have pretty much organized everything up until now. Really looking for daily activities guide (Capers) on the ship but could not locate. Anybody been recently and have this..? Thought it might help by “ Hey why don’t you try the trivia at so and so.

  3. Several years ago while in Junea, my son and I got off the boat and walked up the road to do a salmon fishing trip. The guy had you buy a fishing license and then he loaded you up in his van and took you down to the river. He provided all the poles and helped you out with how to fish. We were there for a couple of hours and had so much fun. Way cheaper than booking anything through the cruise ship. I can't find what company that was. Has anybody else done this or maybe familiar with the outfit (or a similar one I could try).

How did you get 500 in OBC from Carnival?

It was the special they were offering. I went to book the RU2 (free drink package) and the agent suggested the other special ( i think it was actually $250 p/person OBC) . For us it was a better deal. This applied to the $600 I already had from a cancelled cruise due to Covid. Now I have $1100 OBC. I literally get emails from Carnival daily with different specials going on. I think they are trying to load up their ships for when the crusing begins. I have no problem helping them out with that.

  5. $500. The cost of the drink package for two is probably of more value over the length of the cruise. But not being a heavy drinker and long port days, for me it is better to get the $500 OBC and purchase out of pocket ( and apply OBC ).

  6. Explain to me the mixer packages. I see them where it shows a bottle and 6 sodas for 80-100 bucks depending on the liquor. Does this mean they give you six small bottles (mixer like airplane) and six sodas for use in your room? Someone here who does not consume much alcohol but was curious as to what this means when I see you can't purchase bottled liquor on cruise for consumption.

Yes, all of that is how Half Moon Cay works, including free lunch. No problem.

Lounge chairs are free. Don't have umbrellas, as I recall, but half shell shade is, IIRC, $20, on Carnival.

Great- Thanks for the quick response.

  8. So I have onboard credit for an upcoming cruise. I was thinking a bout prepurchasing some excursions or drink packages before I cruise. Will I pay for these now or can I wait until onboard to use the OBC to pay? I would prefer to book now to ensure what I get but want to use my credit for these.

  9. Want to just get off the ship, walk to a beach lounge chair, be able to get food/ drink, and be close to bathroom. Is this all possible and what are cost for a couple of umbrellas/lounge chairs? Is the lunch really free for Carnival Passengers?

They umbrellas to the left of the pier are around Margaritaville.  And the ones closer to the water are for hire by locals.

Head to the right and all are free.  Beach on that section can be a bit further away from the water and that water can have rocky bottom. Food and drink available there from Beached Whale.

When you say head to the right. This is walking from the ship towards the beach???
