  1. Perhaps before putting blame on the cruise line. check with your CC bank. They could be blocking Carnival’s merchant id from processing your card due to your dispute. They could easily lock that merchant from your acct and come up unauthorized. After all why would you deal with the same merchant again if you did not trust them previously. Your actions are juvenile. Everybody waiting, some of us very long for our refunds.  You were just impatient. And screamed the sky is falling.

Just curious; did something happen between when they announced all these changes and now that made you cancel?

Yes,  simply put a vacation should be carefree, fun, stress free & exciting.  When those usual elements are forcibly removed, its anything but… call me silly, i lime to see peoples faces, not hidden behind a mask, when its hot and humid in the southern Caribbean I don’t want to have a mask on while im on a sight seeing tour. I would miss the smiles on the bartender faces as they serve you a beverage poolside. Im willing to wait until things return to a more normal world.

  3. We just canceled our cruise for next week.  Too stressful to take a vacation with all these rules. Not the right time.
stay home, stress free, no mask, no testing, no islands with restrictions, no flying with a mask on for hours.
never thought canceling a vacation could feel so liberating. Strange, but true.

  4. When my wife & I started cruising in 1992.  Carnival’s service was as good if not better than we had on our most recent cruise in a full suite on Princess.  This was just 6 months before Covid entered our lives.
Over the years, a noticeable change in declining service has been taking place over the past 8-10 years. You guys can get so defensive over a thread such as this one. When it’s actually frustrating, how the main stream lines have cut back. From paying for room service, no longer having 3-4 staff for each table in the main DR, 2x per day cabin service.

What everyone needs to understand is those long time cruisers like myself remembering what was  part of cruising, what truly made it special was the SERVICE.  Common people were able to get pampered, feel like a VIP, feel special. Little by little, year by year, line by line, these little things truly made the experience so alluring, and so affordable to us.  Now those days are over, The product has declined. But we want bigger, better, more options. And we sacrificed our amenities for 55k ton ships, and replaced them with MAMMOTH 100k-225k ton cities at sea.  We made the sacrifices, I for one can’t afford a silver sea, Regent, Crystal cruise. on those lines you get that level of service for $$$$.  Who knows maybe things will return to a more intimate guest experience.  But now on these lines Covid can’t be blamed for this is the impersonal service, cut backs and shareholders want that dividend. and we all lay the price. In closing, i do not miss the formal, formal nights when gowns & tuxedos were expected. I like the less rigid structure of cruising now. On the other hand. having the same waitstaff for all dining rooms meals was better. so it’s all about change. either you embrace it or not. But i’m glad with all we have been through in the past year and a half. These are good problems to argue about. sort of normal bickering again.

  5. There was an article in USA today online about a month ago.  The story was about how people can print out fake covid vaccine cards and present them as an official document for travel.  I bet this may have been the case here. They lied about being vaccinated, by showing counterfeit credentials, and now they are positive for covid. “THAT DOG DON’T HUNT”  If your vaccinated for real, according to the CDC. You should have nothing to worry about.
We are approaching the 2 week mark since Memorial day weekend.  The numbers in the US are still going down, with little to no spikes nationwide. With the execption of a couple of states with the lowest rate of vaccination   Bottom line Vaccines are working…

  6. My brother works for the PANYNJ. He works at Port Newark in logistics and marshaling.  He told me they were going over reopening of non public ship terminals for both NY & NJ.  Someone asked about the NYC & Port Liberty cruise ship terminals.  They were told they will remain shuttered until 2nd quarter 2022.  All sailings of passenger vessels have been cancelled until then at minimum.   They expect this to be a press release by 5/1.

  7. So, i got a call today from my TA, he told me to reconsider and cancel my Aug 22 cruise on Oasis from NJ.  He wants me to make a contingency plan, because he feels the cruise will be canceled and should think about an alternatives for that same week.  And airfare is on the rise and will remain high for a long while.

Do you guys think he is correct, or just looking to preserve commissions.  Im not sure what the right thing to do is.

  8.  bold move made by Fain thus far. Azamara was a waste for RCI.  Sycamore thought it would make a profit off Azamara.  Within 6-12 months they will just sell off the ships to another line. And make a 15-20% profit. Azamara was not too profitable for Royal anyway.

  9. With the hopes that my OPTIMISTIC  views that our Aug 22nd Oasis cruise is still on, I will ask my questions.

Last time we sailed over 20 years ago. Formal night was FORMAL. since times have changed. im not going to bring a Tux or dark suite. However, I remember the ship was very cool at night time. If I bring dress pants, collar shirt and a sports coat. Would i feel out of place? Or should i shlep my heavy wool suit also?

So, since now I'm leaning towards no drink package...  Does anyone have a favorite, effective rum runner?  It would be handy, to bring a bit of bourbon and Malibu onboard....

I was thinking of smuggling some meth onboard. As long as they dont ask me to bend over and cough in security, i should be fine.

  11. We have a cruise on Oasis booked for this Aug 22.  I just transferred our booking to a TA from a large consortium group.  He told us not to bet on this cruise happening.  Based on the info they have received from RCI. And they are the largest single producing group for Royal.  I had no reason to disregard what i was told.  However, since money wise we have nothing to loose. Otherwise i would of canceled.  Basically, they are pausing into may already. They are having staffing issues, other countries such as underdeveloped nations may not see vaccines until late 2022/23.  And who know when we will get vaccinated here. Its a mess.  And it takes 4-6 weeks to take a ship out of warm/cold layups.  He strongly feels it wont be until 2022 for a restart, into 2023 for a full return.

I asked fir his off the record opinion, and he was very frank. And he has been at this for 35 years.

What's wrong with them giving out free cruises to casino members?   If it gets cancelled because of covid, it's not their fault.  They release new offers every couple of weeks.  Sure I have some I was disappointed they were cancelled but that is the way of the world right now.    I currently have 3 offers on the club royale website.   I have others booked and latest list doesnt appeal to us right now.

Does the offer show up under your crown n anchor number on clubroyaleoffers site?

Nothing wrong with it. In fact its a great perk. Whats wrong is knowing they are giving away a product they know will not sail.   The casino marketing dept is making a HUGE mistake.  My wife and I pre covid always went to vegas on a full RFB comps.  Never once has an offer been taken away from us, and not replaced.  Gamblers like me are  very loyal. however,  the cruise lines need to start using a host service to take care of their higher tier players.

They shouldn't even be making these offers. There is no sign of start up and they just keep canceling further out.  It just creates bad feelings in a time where the cruise lines have enough obstacles  to overcome.

Absolutely, its not fair. Makes one wonder who is allowing this to continue. Not the time turn off your clients to your product.

I’m very annoyed with RC. We had a free cruise booked through Club Royale and it was canceled once already. They allowed us to move it to January with no problem at all. Since it was canceled again, they won’t do anything for us, including allow us to speak to a supervisor. My husband was told that the rep’s supervisor, Jarrod, doesn’t speak to people. I’d really surprised at the rude treatment. Don’t they want loyal customers to come back?

Now more than ever, especially since this is a unique situation and they need all the passengers they can get. they really should be bending over backwards to assist you.  We are seven stars with Total Rewards. Thats under the Caesars entertainment umbrella of casinos.  They are begging us to come back to Vegas. I hope this works out for you.
