I also went to the CDC website and, while not clear, the CDC implies that older folk should not cruise.  In the page on crusing, there is a link for those at risk of severe illness.  If you click on that link it takes you to https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/need-extra-precautions/index.html

This page lists older adults as being at risk.  I must emphasize that the CDC is being vague on this.

Do I understand you correctly?  Are you not getting anything back - refunds or vouchers - except what you paid for excursions and gratuities?  If so, I'm really sorry to hear that.

Call Viking directly.

We cancelled our excursions one day ahead of cancelling the cruise.  We still got only a voucher, no refund for the excursions.

Yes, I had all types of problems with display errors and not finding roll calls that I knew existed.

I believe it has always been "frequent".

I have a question:   Are Viking vouchers sent by mail or are they electronic?

Future cruise credit and it will not happen for another 2- 4 weeks.

We cancelled our 8/31 booking as well 😞

I agree, pretty shabby.  You'd think they'd, at least, meet you half way.

IMO, flying Icelandic Air is only better if you can do a non-stop flight - most Delta flights require connecting flights.  Also, the Delta return trip is very early in the morning.  It is my understanding that you'll need to disembark at 5:30 a.m. to make the Delta return flight.

I have not been there yet but from these boards it appears Viking will pick you up at airport and take you to a concert hall for check in and feed you some breakfast until 11 a.m. when they will take you to the ship.

@taylorbun1 I just did a google search for "iceland covid"  and this graph was displayed with options as to the length of period for the data.  I chose last 30 days.

I realize that there is not any guarantee that the slope will continue in the same direction but I'm hoping it does partially based on what happened in the UK.  In the UK, there was a very fast rise with the Delta variant followed by an equally fast descent.

If statistics matter in the go/no-go decision then the following should make a difference.  Notice that the trend line is going down and by 8/31 (our embarkation date) should be in good shape.  The only troublesome locations will be airports.

Thanks for your very thorough descriptions.  I am on the same flights you took out of/return to Dulles but got Viking to change the return trip to Icelandair to avoid extra plane/airport time and domestic flight with unvaccinated/untested passengers.

To those of you currently cruising or having recently cruised in Iceland, have you been able to get off the ship on your own after the covid case on Viking Sky?

I traveled to Iceland in 2018 and I just looked at my passport and have entry and exit stamps.
