I called Carnival to put $750 OBC on my sons honeymoon cruise.  I gave them the booking # and paid by credit card..  They used it for drinks and excursions and had about $100 left that was refunded in cash at the end of the cruise.

Finally, some one with a straight forward solution,  thank you.

  2. Seriously not impressed with EJ on this one. The company isn't even 1 yr old and they're scaling back already.

    Bring back the Moet.

If you buy them cruise cash on Carnival.com fun shops, it is nonrefundable. If they don't spend all the cruise cash the remaining amount is forfeited. Cruise cash is not a gift card

If you buy them a Carnival gift card from Lowe's or Cherry on Top onboard or AARP or any other source, whatever amount of the gift card they don't use stays on the gift card.

    Thanks for replying.

So if I get them a gift card how does that work?

How does the money get to their sign and sail account.

    Tia.

Next week we go on a cruise to Aruba and Curacao. We waited too long to book excursions! Has anyone been to Aruba or Curacao before, and what do you recommend doing within the cruise terminal areas or if we can get transportation? Thanks!

I've been to aruba many times.

The bus depot is right in town, Orangested, get the bus (just ask, some one will help, with which one) to eagle beach. Beautiful stretch if beach.

Or get a cab and arrange a time for them to pick you up.

If time allows we stay for the sunset, then head back to ship.

Food and drink in Aruba is very expensive, I take a snack and drinks with me in a cool bag.

The bar there on Eagle beach, across from Amsterdam Manor, has a happy hour about 4 or 5pm I think.

  5. I went to xenses, it was very good.

The ferry is a pia, it's a long stuffy ride, never saw anyone puke, it does feel like you're trapped in a capsule tho, mind numblingly boring. but if you aren't planning a land vaca there anytime I would take the trip.

We ate last evening in Fil Rouge and it was a bit of a clunker.  My wife felt that her lobster was mostly lobster helper.  I can’t say that I have ever seen a smaller piece of Maine lobster and I spent the first 20 years of my life in New England.

As we were boarding on 31 Jan, we ran into Heike from Azamara.  For those interested she was just leaving and will be back in 3 months.

Today the luminary Dr Lori, an art historian, spoke on shipwrecks and she was excellent.  My wife was very familiar with her from You Tube and the Discovery Channel.

Trivia is at 6pm and is well attended.  An additional earlier session would be nice.

    What is lobster helper?

We had the champagne set up in our cabin without any request, though it’s possible the TA did the request.  Certainly should be possible though as we were in the most basic cabin!  Frankly, with free drinks (including champagne) everywhere on board I don’t know who uses the alcohol in the cabin, unless you have a big suite and are entertaining others there or something.  I did meet one man on board who liked to have a special kind of liqueur with his BREAKFAST (!),  so it made sense for him.

Thanks. Some posters mentioned that they called EJ office before the cruise to book dinnig venues. Is this for just Residence class, or all classes of cabins?

How far in advance can you make dining reservations?

    Thank you

Welcome aboard is very low key

Re Sakura at lunchtime DH and I shared the bento box poolside one lunchtime. It was delicious and just the right amount of food 🍲

Could you order this pool side, or did you pick up in Sakura and take with you?

    Thanks

We are enjoying the cruise.  Some misses but the good outweighs the bad.  Not going to do a review yet. Still another 8 days.

You can see the fitness classes on tomorrow’s program.

  10. I have a couple of questions, any help will get greatly appreciated.

With the in room bar set up, is it possible to have a bottle of champagne instead of a spirit or wine?  I didn't see it listed on the menu I saw in a YouTube video.

Also, is it one choice per person or per cabin?

Are there any complimentary exercise, yoga etc classes?

    Many thanks in advance.

Unless you include a true veranda in your definition of luxury.  I do.  But I'm giving one of those little sisters a try on Windstar anyway.  We'll see how a French balcony works in the Caribbean...

I had a cabin with a French balcony on Seabourn Legend, unless you can get a good price, don't bother. It's standing room only, about 2 feet wide.

I will miss my nightly long soak in a bathtub reading a good book and drinking a glass of wine - Not looking forward to enduring 11 nights of showers in Jan since they remodelled the club balcony cabin bathroom on the Pearl after I booked it and they ripped out the bathtub!!

seabourn.... a bath tub in every room, just doesn't match NCL for entertainment though.
