  1. It's crossed my mind to look for a holiday on land, but I just can't believe I can find one to beat a Royal Caribbean cruise.

Let me qualify this, i have two young kids who cruise with us, and I'd hate to downgrade the activities they have access to.

Have you cruises with RC with kids, then gone back to land holidays and been satisfied or even better?  I'd love to hear from you.

  2. Yeah, a lot of this depends on your age and your drinking libido.

I drink a lot on holiday, cans of lager, but I'm 44yo now and so I can't do it every night, I certainly have no interest in day-drinking.  I DO like the barista coffees though, and Odyssey is particularly easy to access them, especially as there is one in Windjammer, whereas on Symphony there is not so many places, so I drank less barista coffee and fresh OJ.

I probably have to drink 9 speciality drinks a day to break even on the package, so if I was you I'd cancel both and pay per drink.

But if he's wedded to the idea of the package, like my wife is, then we both get dragged into it.

Yes you can rebook at any time, provided you're doing it direct with RC and not through an agent. Might even be ok with agent, might not though.

  3. I know Casino Royale gets a lot of airtime on here, but I've got a couple of questions I hope someone can help answer.

I was recently on Symphony for the 7 day cruise from Barcelona, and during this I achieved PRIME status.

I got a lovely letter through my cabin door to give me a comp cruise or $500 credit.

Why are there so few comp cruises in my list from the UK or Europe?  There's 8 pages of offers, and yet only 1 sailing from the UK, and the next nearest port is Israel!

How do I claim the $500 credit? Do I redeem it on the website?

I called the CR US number and was told I should book my cruise first and then try to apply the credit.   But I've also read elsewhere on this site that you should NOT do it this way around!?

I only have 2 weeks left to redeem this apparently.

  4. What a lash-up this is now.

I was seriously thinking about cruising again this winter or next year, but I can see that the industry is still totally unprepared to offer a normal holiday experience without the threat of your holiday being cancelled through no fault of your own, or no proven evidence of you having covid.

Best of luck all of you.

  5. Seems like there will be a minority of people who will take risks that will ruin cruising for the forseeable future.

Covid doesn't just spread itself, it needs people to let their guard down or take risks.  If it was uncontrollable then the entire ship would catch it, which they don't.
