  1. We're cruising next weekend also. I'm planning to wear some red, white and blue. I hope I won't be the only one. :)

I've been on a cruise a few times on the 4th of July....I always wore red, white, and blue. I even brought and wore plastic star beads. Lots of people will be dressed for the 4th. In fact next year one of my cruises leaves on the 4th of July and I already bought a flag shirt to wear!!!!!

  2. I am going on the Adventure in July and am already getting excited for the promenade cafe cookies (yes very sad I know)... If anyone has photos or details of current flavours, please post to satisfy my cravings before I go.

We were on the Adventure in March and THERE WERE NO COOKIES!!!! None in the Cafe Promenade or the Wind Jammer. There were some SF choc chip in the Jammer but that was it. We were very upset!

  3. Not everyone leaves behind stuff that has turned to crap. What's wrong with leaving behind or offering a perfectly usable item? Should I throw out my once read magazine instead of offering for the crew?

Please don't turn this into a tipping thread. No one has once mentioned leaving any item behind intentionally in lieu of a tip. This is about items that are too useful to discard but do not want to travel with for any number of reasons.

You're absolutely correct!!! I've left behind good salon shampoo(like $20 a bottle) because I didn't want it to leak in my luggage. The staff was very appreciative. Many don't have things like this in their countries. They were also amazed by the crystal light packets to put in water. They had never seen anything like that. I would take a few to dinner each night to give to the wait staff. I've never left clothing but if I did, it wouldn't be crap because I don't take my crap on a cruise. I agree that this has nothing to do with tipping. I always leave extra tips.

  4. I agree Mouthwash would be a no no to pass on.

However used shoes would be very useful and appreciated for a lot of people. Look at all the thrift and second hand stores with used shoes in them. Just spray some Lysol and you have a pair of happy feet at a bargain price to boot:eek:

Well I don't use the mouthwash out of the bottle, I bring paper cups and pour it in, doesn't everyone do that???? Using mouthwash out of the bottle is gross. And if they throw it out, so be it, I just don't want to re-pack it so it doesn't leak. But they do tell me they use the stuff, I always let them know I don't want to re-pack it. Now toothpaste is something I never leave, unless it it not used and in the box (I bring several little ones).

  5. What about a Family Oceanview (FO) cabin? Yes, there are bunks in there but you could just request a pack n play for your daughter and your son can sleep on the lower bunk??

Lots of extra space too! Check out the info on the Royal website.

My daughter and her family stayed in an ocean view family stateroom. I believe there would be room for 2 pack n plays. Royal provided one so you don't have to bring your own. The bunk beds are small and the lower one is low. They are in like a little cubicle. They seemed smaller than the regular bunk beds. This was on the Adventure.

  6. My story is similar to yours so I will tell you what happened to us and you can decide if we got the better deal and it might help you if you call Royal Caribbean back. We were on the Mar. 23 sailing of the Adventure. We missed 2 ports due to a propeller problem. We were stuck in Puerto Rico for 3 days. We did mange to get to 3 islands. Royal gave us a full refund of that cruise and 50% off of a future cruise. We had also used our points (75,000) for a free companion cruise. We got an e-mail saying that we can reuse the points on a future cruise within a year. I just called them today to apply the points to my next cruise of which we are getting the full amount applied. Hope you can figure this out and hope it helps.

  7. Seeing two men (who were Royals top cruisers) dressed crazily that I can't even explain it! They wore head pieces, carried purses that were stuffed animal dogs (pink), wore total red outfits with sparkles, very bizarre. Has anyone else ever seen them, after all, they have over 1,000 points. They were on the Adventure for 4 months. Maybe someone can explain them to me!!!!!!:D

  8. On my March cruise on the Adventure we had no towel animals. They gave us a paper showing how to make a towel animal ourselves!!!!! They told us the towel animal people were on vacation for the week (I guessed they meant the room stewards were on vacation from MAKING towel animals)!!!! I thought that was odd! My little grandson was on that cruise and he would've liked them.

  9. We just had a JS that was cheaper than a balcony (got a great deal). The JS is quite larger than a balcony room. There is a living area, walk-in closet, larger bathroom with a tub, larger balcony (we were on the hump). There was so much storage space that we didn't use half of it!!!! But our next cruises will be in balcony rooms unless we get another great deal!!

  10. I love the Oasis more than any other ship!! I really enjoy Central Park and the Park Cafe. I also enjoy the Boardwalk. We are booked on it again for July 2015. We are also booked on the Freedom for March!! The Freedom was waaaaaaay cheaper. Maybe it had to do with the time of year. I like both class of ships for various reasons!! In fact, I just LOVE cruising!!!!:D

  11. Our daughter's in-laws came on their first cruise on the Adventure of the Seas with us 3 weeks ago. We knew the ship was having trouble with the propeller from CC friends who were on a back to back. Our cruise to the Southern Caribbean left from Puerto Rico. Well, they decided to fix the propeller while in Puerto Rico. To make a long story short, it took 3 days to fix and we missed 2 islands. The in-laws rolled with the punches and were happy to be in PR because they had never been there before,we were able to get on and off the ship. We finally got moving and made it to 3 islands, they were happy to finally be sailing, and so were we. We ended up getting reimbursed for the entire cruise and 50 % off of another. That made us all happy. I know this is not the same as being sick, but a bad start ended up good!!!!:D
