  1. You may want to keep checking the Amtrack Pacific Surfliner schedule.  They are doing maintenance on the tracks and there is a section closed during the weekday and on certain weekends so they transfer the passengers to a bus and then resume on the train.  Just an FYI.

    You will love San Diego!

  2. Will you please take more pics of the casino or a video. I'm interested in what table games they still have and what slots, including video poker?  Also, If you could report when the casino is open throughout the cruise?  I know when not in port but curious as to when sailing near Alaska.  Have a great cruise!  I will be onboard on June 28th.  Looking forward to all of your pictures!  Thanks!

Did I understand correctly - you had a rapid test in San Diego?  Do you mind sharing where and how much?  In case our appointments at home fall through, I'd like to know where we can get tested there as Plan B.  Thanks.

       Continue enjoying.

There is a place in Pacific Beach, about 10-15 minutes from downtown San Diego (Escondido is 45 minutes north of downtown) that does Rapid Testing.  With insurance, it is $25.  You can make an appt. online.  I did it for my cruise last month and it was easy breezy.  They also take walkins but people with appts. get in faster.  https://app.samedayhealth.com/booking/california--san-diego--pacific-beach?wmode=opaque

There is also a drive through place downtown but it is over $100 and you have to submit it to your insurance for reimbursement.

Thanks for making your way over here... Better late than never:) Hopefully enough going on over in the Ay Tee El to keep you busy until the Encore cruise...

I too just finished reading this great thread! Thanks for sharing your birthday and vacation with us.

I tried to send you a message but it won't let me.  I wanted to ask a favor of you for your next cruise on the Encore.  Will you email me at my username at yahoo?  Thanks!  Bonstersd

    Congrats on the upgrade!!

If you dont mind I have a couple questions. Did you book with CAS or on your own?

Did you happen to see how full your ship was and room availability before you bid? And lastly, $100PP or $200 PP ?

Trying to gage for my upcoming cruise on the Escape 9-1

Anonymoussol, please let us know if you you get an upgrade for your 9/1 Escape cruise.  I'm assuming you booked through CAS?  I did as well for the 9/15 cruise... want to know what my chances are for an upgrade having booked through CAS.

  6. I would wait to change your airfare because the airline will likely change your flight many times before your scheduled departure.  I booked my flight for my September cruise last December...it has changed 4 times already.  If it is the airline's change, you can change your flight with no change fee.  🙂

  7. I would seriously consider just paying as he goes.  I don't know how much a 21 year old can drink and maybe having 15 drinks available per day is too much for a "newbie" drinker.   If there is any problem with his ordering a drink after he turns 21, just go to guest services and they should be able to handle it for you.  I do, however, believe that you have until the second day to buy the cheers package and the drinks you ordered and paid for the day before get zeroed out.  Good luck and happy birthday!
