We are booking the Australia to Hawaii cruise on the Celebrity Edge ship April 20, 2026.  We typically book Port side cabins, however wanted to ask anyone who has been on this cruise, which side is best for seeing sites from the cabin in port, instead of being on the ocean side.  Look forward to hearing the answer to this question and any other information or tips you would be willing share about this cruise.

    Thank you!!

We have booked this trip on the Edge in April 2026. Didn't even consider which side of the ship to book but we have booked on the starboard side.

  2. Sorry if it’s been discussed previously but I can’t find it within the thread.
is Utopia remaining in PC and still doing 4/3 night sailings in May 2025. I know it’s not released yet

we are coming over from Australia and are doing a week on Norwegian Aqua then have a week before we sail on Icon so considering Utopia for the time in between cruises

( Something  to watch later in the week,)
Hawaii ports opened up Honolulu 29 April 2025 bookings a few hours ago. No Ovation listed for this date to match the current cruise on sale. Silver Moon has a booking in Hawaii for the 29 April.
Quantum has 2 bookings now 23 April and an over night one 27- 28 April 2025.
Anthem is booked 18 April 2025.
We should know in a few days.

Will be keeping a close eye as we are booked on the Ovation transpacific in April 2025

  4. It is a very beautiful area with several trails, swimming holes and palms itself is pretty, but not much there. I haven’t done the rainforest trail but from what I remember it’s a fairly accessible one. The link in the above post should give you more info. Please be aware it is a good trip out of Townsville to get to McClallans lookout. We live 30 minutes drive north of the port/city and it took us almost an hour to drive up there

  5. Hi all

just wondering when roughly you would expect summer 2025 cruises to be released.
we are booked on a transpacific Sydney to Hawaii in April 2025, we then want to fly to Miami and go on Icon of the seas. We basically want to be going on 3rd May which is the disembarkation day of the last cruise currently able to be booked

    thanks

  6. The problem with cruising in Australia is it’s such a large land mass that most areas to cruise in are separated into different cruises, for example 10 night itinerary to do the North Queensland coast and Great Barrier Reef, 12-14 days to do New Zealand, 6-8 days to do South Australia and Tasmania and it’s rare to get all those combined into one cruise. Celebrity do seem to tailor their itineraries to rotate through them so you can put back to backs together to see more, or there are some one way itineraries on HAL and Princess that start in NZ and end in Australia.

so much to see and do here, we have lived here 12 years and haven’t even touched the surface yet

  7. I can’t comment on either HAL or Carnival, however we have done both P&O and Royal Carribean and just came off Pacific adventure yesterday.

we quite like P&O but we tend to utilise them in our winter season when other ships are not here. If it’s during our summer season we would always choose RCI over P&O

P&O ships are old, they have refurbed the public areas nicely but the rooms are small and haven’t been updated and starting to look a bit rough round the edges. Food is good but the new menus are a little unimaginative and having to pay extra for basic items is a bit off I feel. I had avo on toast and they wanted extra for a poached egg!! Entertainment is ok, shows are excellent, a few solo duo artists around, however we couldn’t get a seat for any trivia all weekend.

we do love RCI, the ships are new, modern, spotless and so much to do, cabins are large and modern. We love the variety of entertainment on board from shows to bands to musicians, trivia’s practically every hour and loads of different venues so somewhere to spread everywhere out. We did the GBR cruise last November and yes it was busy but the ship holds the crowds well.

  8. We are pretty new to cruising having only started last year for hubbys 50th. At the moment we cruise a few lines because we are in Australia and our cruising options are limited. We have our first celebrity cruise next feb but I like the way we are already classic level before we have even sailed thanks to the PUP points, I hope they keep them coming

  9. We have sailed P&O, Princess and Royal Carribean. Princess is definitely the most relaxing and is an older age range of passengers generally. P&O is also great but have found those a big livelier although so far we have only done short cruises on them which will always be busier, I would think a longer cruise will be more relaxed. Have you had a look at Celebrity at all? They do some nice NZ itineraries and are generally mostly adults on their ships.

Brisbane Port Schedule is showing a few more bookings for Quantum from late January 2025 to the end of the season early April 2025.

While most are still the 7 day Friday schedule some weekend cruises appear to be added with a short mid week cruise to get it back on the Friday turnaround.

Maybe decided to go like P&O and do loads of booze cruises, easier to fill than South Pacific cruises with people who don’t have passports

  11. Depending on when next year you are looking to travel Celebrity have some good itineraries on Edge. I’m doing a b2b which does the Great Barrier Reef and then heads down to Tasmania. A lot of others are also on for the previous cruise which starts in Auckland, does a 12 night NZ cruise to Sydney then heads out on the two I am on ending in Sydney. Being celebrity you would also get status matching for your Diamond Plus with RCI. I think there are also similar combinations of b2b cruises for our 2024/2025 summer season also

Could be. They could be misinterpreting the market, but I think they will be basing everything on advanced booking numbers for Brilliance next season. They did have a Vision class place marker in ports for 2024/25, so to me it seems like they were estimating a small downsize already. Sure they could fill another ship, but at what margin. The market here will shift, but is from health concerns and toward financial concerns?

Maybe there will be some sensational news ready to be announced, and they are keeping a secret better than ever before. I agree that with more massive newbuilds hitting the market, that there will usually be newer hand-me-downs looking for a different home - but I am just not sensing anything. Princess is also dropping capacity from 2023/4 to 2024/5, so for whatever reason there appears to be some cautious minds in the industry.

I think they are probably wise to be cautious given that they are heavily discounting sailings even for next season already. Also prices have jumped up considerably for the 24/25 season if Princess and Celebrity prices are anything to go by

we are normally extreme advance planners and would have booked our 24/25 trips by now but we are unsure even what we will do next season
