  1. Rachel,  it sounds like a relaxing day, which is what I am looking forward to when we board the Splendor on Thursday.  Are you hearing about any Covid on the ship? Are things fairly normal, (with the exception of canceled ports) only fewer people than normal?  Are people masking when appropriate?
I’m just looking forward to getting out of my house, not cooking or doing the dishes.  It may not be a “normal” cruise, but as long as Covid stays away, I would be happy.
Stay safe, relax and count your blessings you are not in the snow or a place going nuts - like FL…

  2. Hi.  So sorry that you both have Covid.  We will be on Splendor next week and will be very interested to hear how they handle your quarantine.  Are you being treated like you are in the brig, or as a treasured guest?  How are they supplying you with food and beverages and are you able to order from any menus or are you limited, and can you order from where you want and when you want?  We are joining the Splendor with some trepidation and if we do become ill would like to stay in our suite which is a larger 2 room suite.  your viewpoint from the Covid side will be very interesting.

I hope you both continue to feel ok, I have been sick on ships before and I know it can be miserable ( I’ve had my share of chicken noodle soup and crackers on Celebrity several times)

Hopefully you will get some sort of mulligan for this cruise.
Enjoy some movies, read some good books in the sea air and keep writing on this forum!
    Socially distanced hugs,

  3. I’m planning on spending a lot of time in our suite and on the balcony.  We hope to keep a small bubble with the other couple with whom we are traveling .  The four of us plan on staying home and keeping a low profile until we drive to Miami .  As far as the 6ft +, we probably won’t be making any new friends on this trip, it will just be nice to get a way from home for a bit.  As long as the chefs etc…. are healthy….
maybe we can wave from afar whe we all join the ship.

  4. Hi,  we are looking forward with some trepidation to joining Splendor on January 13,  hopefully.    I guess my question is how are the reports that I’m hearing that Covid is on board Splendor affecting the cruise and should I be worried?  How much has it changed the cruise experience ?  It worries me that you say there are people not following mask protocol.  Do you feel like you need to stay 6 ft + away from other passengers?  Food and service still good?
Anything those on the ship can add to prepare future cruisers would be helpful to clarify the situation.
Thanks and enjoy the rest of your trip, stay safe and stay healthy.

Grumpyathome and even Grumpier if this cruise is postponed again, original cruise date was March 12, 2020 on Explorer.

Indeed, it is none of your business.  Please allow the moderators to decide what is an appropriate post and what is not.   If the corona virus narrative upsets you prior to your cruise, you always have the option of skipping the tread or skipping posts you find unacceptable.

Thank you Forgap for coming to my defense.  Since we were scheduled to sail on March 12th on the Explorer. I thought I could get an idea of how things  were going on the Explorer.  I truly am sorry if I upset anyone, it was not my intention.  and it was sent prior to the ban on Roll Call info, of which this is not a roll call.
But u nfortunately, we are having to postpone and cancel this cruise.  Our friends who we planned to sail with have had a medical emergency.  We will reschedule when he is better.

  6. Thanks for the hand sanitizer info. The US is going nuts over Coronavirus.  We are hoping no one comes on with it or has been exposed, cause we are planning on boarding on Wednesday.  We took an offered upgrade and plan on hunkering down in our cabin if needed and let the butler take care of us.  Our house in Orlando is ready for us to self quarantine when we get back except for fresh produce ( our daughter can pick that up for us and leave it at the front door).

it would be interesting to hear how disembarking in Miami goes.  Enjoy the rest of your trip, cause it’s crazy here.  Many folks who can are telecommuting, if someone coughs or sneezes near you.... schools are being closed in some states.  So far Orlando area is okay but with Disney and Universal it is just a matter of time

  7. Hi!  Sounds like a relaxing cruise. We join the Explorer on March 12th.  I’m just curious if you have noticed anything being done differently or if it is just general sanitizing that has been stepped up due to Coronavirus?  I have noticed that a lot of cabins have opened up in the last day or two.  Not sure if that is because folks can’t board due to where  the have passports or have traveled from or if they are running scared.
