  1. We’re only in port 4-8pm. Will we be able to disembark at Juneau port this week and get to a kiosk to purchase a round trip to Mendhenall Glaicer right away? I’m looking for one that takes me directly to visitors center and leaves enough time to walk to Nugget Falls?? Also, will we be able to get off the tour bus and ride the Mt Robert’s Tram on our own in plenty of time for the ship leaving at 8pm. I’m not sure how many glacier buses are running with last minute purchases and lines for the tram. I have MS and can’t stand forever either! Thanks for any advise. I’m trying to avoid booking one or the other through Princess bc I want to be efficient and get both in.

  3. We plant to use port valet to transfer our luggage and explore Seattle all day on July 2 before our cross country red eye flight. We plan to use transit all day. Should we get Orca cards with pre purchased all day pass that will activate with our first transit? Or is there an app that I can use for each ride connected  with my credit card? I don’t want to pay cash for each ride. I’ll use transit app to plan bus, trolley, metro and ferry.

Here is our plan for the long day in Seattle. We disembark at Port 91

    1. Queen Anne-Kerry Park (hilltop view of Seattle) Lake Union Park (9:30-12), Seattle Water “Ice Cream” Cruise around Lake Union in front of MOHAI Seattle for GPS $15 each, Citizens Coffee, El Diablo & Queen Anne Book
    2. Pike Place and waterfront area (Beechers, Piroshky, or Pike Place Chowder, Storyville for coffee) 12-3
    3. Commuter Ferry to Bainbridge Island  and back to downtown (3:30-8)
    4. Transit to airport  (8:30-9pm)
  4. What is the box to check that you’re available to upgrade? First time cruiser. My daughter and I are in ib interior room with twin beds. We wanted mid forward on a quiet floor, Baja. But if they upgraded us to window or obstructed balcony without paying for it, that would be great. Is that what you’re referring to? I just didn’t want to say best available room bc I wanted a quiet deck but maybe I should?

  5. Everyone recommends waterproof shoes for ports bc of the frequent rain. I have a waterproof jacket and umbrella and layers planned for my backpack, but for shoes I have running shoes that are fabric and Chacos sandals. Is it too cold in late June, early July for Chacos? I don’t really want to buy waterproof hikers when I won’t need them again. Thanks.

  6. We’re booked with the Crown Princess June 25 and Ketchikan was dropped. I see some switching on our roll cal to Discover on the 26 that doesn’t go to Glacier Bay but includes Ketchikan. That doesn’t seem worth it but I don’t know. We had scheduled a rainforest walk with Wild Wolf Tours and they gave our money back. We watched YouTube videos of Ketchikan and it’s very picturesque but I’m sure I’d rather see Glacier Bay. Is this propulsion issue so dire that we may not cruise at all? We have non refundable plane tickets to Seattle 6/24-7/2 so we’d have to scramble to plan a Seattle area vacation

I just went to the Princess site and it shows arrival at 230 and several tours available. maybe look again. Cruise Details - 7-Day Inside Passage (with Glacier Bay National Park) - Princess Cruises

Some of the Skagway tours have not be updated to reflect that the train doesn't go to Fraiser this year. It could be all goofed up. sightcrr

When you choose the excursions in My Booking they all start before 2:30 right now. I guess they realize they need to update it. For peace of mind, I’ll know I have the taxi to the glacier and in-person, same day Tram ticket options.

  8. I was booked for a 1pm Mendenhall Glacier tour and Tram combo for June 27 through Princess but they just emailed that they are now arriving at 2:30! And they cancelled Ketchikan but that is another tale. I went through the chat with Princess and they don’t have later options for any excursions. But they “may” email us “if” they have later options. So should I go ahead and try to book separate private excursions for the afternoon? Crown Princess is having some kind of engine issues so the email said CP was reduced speed, and I’m worried the ship will keep changing arrival times from sea too. This is our first cruise, so I’m really disappointed. I’d appreciate any advice!

  9. I’ve never been on a cruise before and have MS so have trouble getting out in mountains/hiking etc. I was so excited about the Bennet Lake extended trip which is a no go now! So our Crown Princess June 25 cruise will be in Skagway June 28th from 7am-8:30pm. I’m about to book the Chilkoot Yukon bus from 8:30am for 6 hours, so 2:30pm. Then the Princess White Pass Railroad round trip from 4pm-6:30pm (through Princess so if something goes wrong with the train, the ship will wait for us). Does this sound like I’ll see what I want and will work out to plan both excursions? I really want us to see the train, but some of the Yukon sites as well still.

  10. I see it. Princess didn’t let me know. That’s disappointing. I will try to access their customer service by chat to change or refund my Skagway excursion. I don’t see they offer a bus tour of the Yukon. I’m disappointed - we’ve been working on getting our passports and I was hoping to see mountain vistas and the lakes… I see Chilkoot offers a Yukon bus only tour. Which one would you recommend for a first and only Alaska cruise? The Princess Haines Animal Planet tour or Chilkoot Yukon bus?

  11. I'm planning on signing up for 3 excursions today through Princess and one local vendor. Please comment on my choices if you have any advice or suggestions! I have MS and can walk 1.5 miles in relatively stable terrain so I'm limited in our choices.

Skagway: Princess White Train Railroad/Yukon $209. I know it's uncertain if the rail to the summit will be repaired but it seems likely by late June. I want to see lakes - will we see Emerald Lake? Or just drive by? Can you see or walk to Bennett Lake from Carcross?

Juneau: Mendenhaal Glacier tour and Tram package $79

Ketchikan: Wild Wolf Tours - 2 hr rainforest hike and Blight Totem park. $80 I'm scared to risk trying to arrange the public bus to Blight Totem on my own and I'd still have not idea how to get a rainforest walk. Is the path right there at Blight Totem stop?

Victoria- just planning to walk around and enjoy the views with a map
