  1. I get such a thrill going under bridges on a cruise ship. It’s a great way to begin a cruise. We have cruised under the Verrazano Bridge in NYC several times. We live near the Skyway Bridge in St. Petersburg and often go to Fort DeSoto Park where we can watch the cruise ships going under the bridge and returning to Tampa.

  2. For anyone who has cruised from the Tampa port, do you remember about how long it takes for the ship to reach the Skyway bridge in St Pete? I would love to be able to stand on the deck when we cruise under the bridge on the first day. We have My Time Dining but I don’t want to be stuck in the dining room eating when the ship goes under the bridge.

    Thanks,

    Karen

  3. Thanks, the links aren't working for me though, says invalid??? Anyway, did you happen to notice if they were also selling the packs of 15 tickets for $30.00 for the bus/ferries anywhere at the dockyard?

We leave on the 25th, can't wait!!

We just returned from Bermuda yesterday. We wanted to buy the ticket packs also but were told at two different locations at the dockyard that the booklets are only available for purchase in Hamilton. We purchased a two day pass for $25.00 a person. It worked out well for us because we used the pass on the first two days and then took a snorkeling excursion on the third day and didn't really need bus/ferry tickets for that last day.

  4. Needed to ask a question about our OBC. Just spent over one hour on hold and then was disconnected. You have got to be kidding!!!! Tried to find an email address so that I could contact them but all that I could find was the same phone number that I had just called. Is there any other way to contact NCL?

  5. We are sailing on the Breakaway next week to Bermuda. We would like to use some of our OBC in the specialty restaurants. When we get on the ship and make reservations, do we need to notify them that we are using OBC or do they just apply the charge to our account? Would it automatically be deducted from our onboard account when we get the final bill?

  6. I wouldn't pay for an excursion from the ship. It's so easy to get a cab there. I thought it was worth going to see the resort. We really enjoyed the aquarium but there is an admission fee which I thought was worth it. No one stopped us from wandering around the pool area and checking out the beach but we didn't try to swim at either place. The food prices are outrageous so eat on the ship before you go. Also, check out the Chihully glass sculptures in the casino. They're beautiful and unique.

  7. I heartily recommend the main dining room for lunch. The food is good and the service and atmosphere are superior. I'd also suggest that you use the same venue for your breakfast. Breakfast in the main dining room is wonderful and they look the other way when you sneak in your maple syrup that we know you have stashed in your gym bag. there is really no reason to hide your obsession. You comes to breakfast with a simple enough desire , to get filled up with bad for your health breakfast fare. Don't be ashamed! And if they say to you that that's a "ginormous amount of food for a " one eyed fat man " , well don't you take it! You take the reins in your teeth and the forks in your mitts and you yell out "fill your hands you son of a bitch!" Thus when people pass your dusty old grave some day, they'll do so with awe, and they'll be proud to have known you.You understood life. You grabbed it by the throat. You stomped it and kicked it to the side like so much third grade road kill,

I like your way of thinking and I want to party with you!!!!

  8. We also booked with a very large online TA. Each time they sent an invoice (deposit inv initially, then final pymt inv) there was also an attachment for an amenities invoice. We also received an OBC from NCL. It can be a little tricky to find on NCL. Log into NCL then under "My Cruise Vacation" click on view reservation. This will take you to the "Get Ready To Cruise" section. Just above that, click on "Vacation Summary". The NCL obc should be listed on the left hand side next to "onboard spending". Right below that it will say "Money" and sometimes the TA obc will be listed there, however, ours never has been. I always print out the Amenity inv and take it with us. Have never had to use it though as the credits have always shown up in our cabin when we board or shortly thereafter.

Thank you. That really reassures me. I will definitely take my amenity invoice from the online TA just in case we need it.

  9. We've been on quite a few Caribbean cruises and we'll be taking our third cruise to Bermuda next month. We were so surprised at how beautiful Bermuda is. The beaches are gorgeous and transportation around the island is so easy that you really don't need to pay for excursions. Being there for three days is perfect because you can enjoy the beaches, St. George and the history of Bermuda, and shopping and restaurants in Hamilton. We also liked the Caribbean islands that we visited but we always get so depressed to see how many of the natives have to live. I just hate seeing people living in cardboard shacks and begging for money. It makes me feel so guilty. You really don't see that in Bermuda.

If you are looking for a more relaxing vacation, then I would pick Bermuda. If you want to be busy exploring islands and taking excursions, then choose a Caribbean cruise.

  10. We booked with an online cruise company and are also concerned about our OBC. We received two separate OBC credits. Both appear on our invoice from the company but only one appears on our account summary for NCL. I called our agent twice and she insists that the other one will appear shortly before our cruise. However, our cruise is in 16 days and I really don't want to have to haggle with guest services when we get on the ship if it doesn't appear. I called NCL and they said to get it straightened out with our representative before we get on the ship. I'm concerned about whether I should trust the online cruise company.

  11. We are cruising with a two-year old in September on the Jewel of the Seas. We were wondering what people do about using car seats, strollers, or pack-n-plays. Do you take them with you? Does the ship have them available? What do you use for the child to sleep in? If you take ship excursions, do you need a car seat? What do you do if you take a taxi?

Thanks so much for your help.
