  1. I agree..I don't believe that most non-smokers can understand or totally relate to nicotine addiction. Nicotine is the only drug that acts as both a stimulant and a relaxant at the same time. For most smokers going through nicotine withdrawal is really very difficult. Not only is there the physical addiction of nicotine but there is also an equally strong psychological addiction in that smoking cigarettes go with many activities (drinking coffee or cocktails, after a meal, when stressed, talking on the phone, etc etc) Bottom line is that for most smokers quitting is hugely difficult (and a lifelong battle)

I personally have quit smoking and relapsed many times. I have gone as long as two years without one and then picked it up again for some unknown reason. Right now I am not smoking..tomorrow or next week who knows?

Finally someone who understands. Do people really think think that as a smoker we just love to make others uncomfortable, to smell of smoke no we don't. But I'm going to try to be extremely understanding of others on my cruise. But hopefully when I am having a smoke on my balcony (where it is allowed) I won't have someone yelling "I'm allergic to smoke stop!" After all I too paid my fare. :)

  2. :( Not looking good for my trip in a few weeks. I have no plans to get off the ship in PC or nassau. HAve a cabana booked in GSC and am really looking forward to it.

    YUCK!

me too - have a cabana and also the water jet - hopefully 11/24 cruise we'll be able to get to GSC . I'm going to keep positive and if not well I'll enjoy the ship and the spa :)

  3. Thing that gets me is all of the non-smoking diehards want people to stop smoking.

Yet when people make the attempt, the non-smoking folks force these people, to use their smoking cessation products, in the smoking area, which would be the worst place to force these people into. (like forcing someone on a diet that is life or death, into a room lined with candy and cakes, to eat their dietary meal.)

    Makes zero sense.

    Bill

Totally agree! Non-smokers don't know how hard it is to stop. I want to and I have cut down drastically. But I have to admit when I walk past smokers - I immediately reach to get one for myself.

  4. Will be on POA next week.

I once saw a post advising people to take baggies for food while on excursions during the day and kinda shrugged it off as someone who was fanatically frugal.

Well today, I told a client that I was heading to Hawaii for vacation and was told to take baggies because the food was ridiculously expensive....as in, $40 for a medium pizza for everything on it.

I'm throwing this out to you fine people because there is no "snopes" to consult on the issue. I'm not a cheapie when it comes to decent food, but now I am rethinking my earlier shrug.

    What do y'all say?

    Thank you in advance!

I take baggies for alot of things carrying wet items, keeping toiletries separate and for dirty items. But there is always that one time that I might say I should have brought of those goodies off the ship for a snack :). Why not? If you would take bottle water off the ship why not a few snacks? Seems OK to me. I remember in Bermuda bottle water was $5! I bought it because I was thirsty and didn't think to bring some water w/me. But then again if you want to have a fab lunch (it is vacation) and don't mind spending $$ go for it - after it's all up to you. Either way enjoy :D

  5. Favorite morning brunch drink (or balcony anytime drink) is a Bellini.

Great way to use the sparkling wine from your perks. Just ask for some peach nectar or bring a small can on board. 3 parts sparking wine, 1 part peach nectar. Garnish glass with a strawberry...and indulge!

    That sounds delish!!

  6. Amazing and wonderful.

And kudos to the officers involved!

    That's some special service ;-)

As someone else recently said, we thank YOU (OP) for your service.

And obviously you know how much they'd appreciate special thanks and feedback to their department.

(It's so easy to criticize bad service. We always try to give recognition to anyone who gives great service, especially when they go "above and beyond" what is expected.)

I can't put into words how much we appreciate the service of those like you, so that WE can enjoy so much of our own lives, including things just like these cruises.

We are both SO glad that this had a happy ending so that you can relax and KNOW that you'll have no troubles getting on the plane and on and off the ship at various ports.

    HAVE A WONDERFUL VACATION.

And have a wonderful evening - you can relax a bit now, thank goodness :)

Oh, and have DH get that passport, so all 3 of you can dash off "wherever", and "whenever". Or just enjoy thinking about it :D

    GeezerCouple

Congrats :D I am so happy for you both. There are still honest people out there!! Go have fun and bring the police back a gift :)

  7. Shhhhhhhh! Be careful or they will gang up on you! Smokers love to find non smokers and make them miserable.

    ;)

I beg to differ its usually the other way around. But as I said I am a considerate smoker - even trying the electronic ones and still I get complaints. Trying to stop but until then should I be made to feel as if I'm a criminal?

  8. We were on Breakaway 6/9- 6/16.

The casino smoke eaters were NOT keeping up with the smoke.

You could smell it all the way to the elevators past O'Sheehans.

I believe people were told NOT to smoke on their balconies. The 3 next to us did not adhere to that. One of them smoking was fine, but three going at it was choking the two of us off our balcony (and I sprung for a mini-suite for our anniversary:eek:).

They need to enclose the smoking area in the casino. Gives the smokers their spot to smoke and gamble.

There were plenty of areas upstairs, so plenty of places for the smokers to puff.

You are wrong about NOT smoking on balconies - it is ALLOWED. Being a smoker I try to be considerate but sometimes non -smokers are downright rude . I paid my passage like everyone else and if I want to smoke (in the permitted area) so be it. Why should we be penned up like animals? WE already have to smoke in the rain, snow, cold, heat now you want an enclosed area for us. I'm a human too!!
