Once I have gift cards, do I need to give the info to my TA to may payments, or can I do it online on the Princess site?

    Ā

Also keep the keep the numbers and pin. During COVID I had to cancel a trip I paid with gift cards. Luckily I kept the paper hard copy. The money is refunded to the cards not a check back to you.

Not sure exactly what you are asking.Ā  If you were trying to book a mini suite on deck 8 and they are not available; they are either booked or in a TA room block that could be in place until about 30 days before the cruise date.Ā  Impossible to know which.Ā  When is your cruise?

June next year. I did a guarantee mini suite but I donā€™t want deck 9.Ā

Hi all , Iā€™ve been following along reading all this information about Alaska and this will be our very first time going to Alaska so we wanted to get it right .

we really like the 22 day ultimate Alaska cruise on the Ruby princess and would book a balcony cabin , can anyone give any recommendations what balconies would be best , port or starboard side ? and most importantly are any of the balconies protected from the elements with a over hang, any tips are welcomed.

I would do starboard going north.

I see Sapphire will arrive in LA from Santiago on April 8, 2025.Ā  The next cruise I see in Alaska spreadsheet is a Pacific Coastal from LA departing on May 10.Ā  Is it likely that Sapphire will do a couple of Hawaii cruises at this time?Ā Ā

    Ā

Sorry, I just saw there is a 32 day Pacific cruise.

Iā€™m assuming you are seeing this because you are Elite? If so, I need to contact Princess. They updated my status but I canā€™t see the 2025 cruises you are seeing.

Yes and no. I only looked at it out of curiosity. I donā€™t want to go to SA, Iā€™m waiting for the Alaska cruises to come out. Hoping I can now book the cruise I really want on Aug 2. šŸ¤ž

I took a look at Holland America May 4, 2025. We usually get a mini suite and their comparable signature suite is a good deal for ports visited. Still deciding.

Ā OK my mom lives locally in Southern California and goes to port ( San Pedro)sometimes and definitely Ā LAX with - executive car service which is curbside at the airport coming and going and they pick up or drop off from your house or business as well. They ( my mom) go through prime time to reach them .I donā€™t have a phone number ,but primetimeshuttle.com is what they use and thereā€™s several choices of vehicles to choose from .( i.e. sedan or shared van, etc) They have not taken shared,so no experience with that.

    There is also executivecarservicelax.com

I do not know anything about this but I ran across it .

    Ā

Ā I personally like Lyft to and from the airport . I have used it in many cities and minimal problems compared to the shuttles that I see the reviews about. I know some people donā€™t want to use Lyft or Uber, but honestly they have never failed to pick me up or not gotten me to where Iā€™m going on time. I think people that are hesitant just need to try it for a very short trip somewhere and see what their experience is Ā and then baby steps Ā -graduate to getting to the port or an airport. Ā

Approx cost from Airport to cruise port and what time of day. Thank you.

It depends upon how each country defines their regulations, etc.

IF they say something like individually labeled bottles (and describe the labels with some official requirements, etc.), then... that IS what we do. Ā FULL STOP. Ā We are going to be entering some *other* country, and those laws and enforcement may be very different from what we experience "at home".

Why tempt fate? Ā All it would take is some grumpy agent who perhaps misunderstood what someone said, and... you can find yourself in a different line. Ā We can't necessarily avoid that, but we *can* be prepared by having followed their written rules.

    Ā

As for the "smaller containers", we get tiny ziploc baggies, and ask the pharmacist for a new set of "stick-on labels". Ā (We usually ask about 2 weeks prior to wanting to pick them up, so the pharmacist can do it during any down time, rather than... "I need it today!!")

    Ā

I got this idea when one of our regular prescriptions was dispensed in... a little ziploc type bag with the regular label stuck on it!

    Ā

Then we just keep those same little baggies and re-use them for the next trip. Ā Another nice thing about those little baggies is that they can be compressed, so there's not a lot of extra "air volume". Ā Among the problems with the plastic Rx containers is that they are rigid, so they don't stack or store easily. Ā Worse, that rigid space is often full of... lots of air!Ā šŸ˜

    Ā

When we switched to "all little ziplocs" for Rx pills was when our pharmacy cut down on the sizes of those amber plastic pill containers. Ā They no longer carried the smallest two sizes. That meant that an Rx for, say, 10 pills was put into the same size container that could also have held 100 (or even more). Ā What a complete waste of space for travelers!

    Ā

Anyway, once we've got that all set, it's a breeze to "use it again" for the next trip. šŸ™‚Ā

Likewise, any physician letters are kept together and used for the next trips. Ā Ditto the copies in the cloud. Ā Every few years, we might update some of this.

    Ā

I don't understand the questions that are of the type, "When you are entering a foreign country, do you abide by their laws and regulations?" Ā Um, *yes*! Ā Full stop.

Thanks, I got new ā€œlittle bottlesā€ and they still were too big for 2 weeks of meds. Iā€™ll ask for just the labels. I use the baggies at times too but I just write on them what it is. This way it looks more official with pharmacy label.Ā

We arrived this morning, answered 'yes' to the med questions, went through the "nothing to declare" line and breezed straight through, no questions even asked.Ā  Thanks for the advice all!

    Ā

Were you prepared with all medication in separate containers with labels? I used to using the 7 day medication containers. Just need to know if I have to get smaller ones as I get 90 day supply. Ā Thanks

I know we have to declare all medication. I just need to know if anyone who had a prescription bottle with their name on it was also asked for a doctors script? The official website says to have both, but I really donā€™t want to pay for a Drā€™s appointment to get a slip of paper that no one will actually ask to see. Yes my Dr will not provide one without an appointment šŸ™„

    Ā

If your doctor has access online, I was able to drink my medication list from there ans it showed the date page was accessed. Ā Hope this helps.

We are currently at the Denali Wilderness Lodge. The one big thing is that there doesnā€™t appear to be housekeeping service for a two night stay. Not a problem for us but I think they should let you know in the welcome package. One of the restaurants (Grizzly Bear) is closed but the others are open. The food is very good, particularly in the Wild Salmon. Service was slow there but not terrible. We also ate in Fannie Qs our first night and the service was good.
    Ā

We are off to McKinley Lodge this morning so we will see how that goes.

    Thank you.
