  1. I was trying to figure out what the bump at the far end was....someone's knees under the covers

Nobody was in the bed so it couldn't have been someone's knees. The comforter was just messy on the side as I had sat there earlier packing my backpack.

The stain/mark didn't smell, wasn't wet, etc. It was just off color and made the room look unattractive. There were other spots around the room but the one in the picture was by far the biggest.

We did have a good time, but it just bothered me. When you pay a lot of money for a big trip, you just want it to be perfect and the room just didn't look as nice as I expected a Princess room to be. I haven't shown my parents the picture yet as I am just now getting my pictures together. I will show them and let them make a decision. It's good to know that these stain/marks aren't in all the staterooms.

  2. We got back last week from our cruise to Alaska on the Golden Princess, and I was concerned with what looked like very large stains on the floor of our stateroom. The largest one was in front of our bed and was spanned pretty much the length of the bed. I spoke to our stateroom attendant who acted very confused like he couldn't see it even though it was very obvious. I finally spoke to someone in charge who told us it was not a stain but rather lighting that made it look like one. I thought that at first as well but there were marks/stains even when no light was on.

Have any of your guys noticed this issue? My parents are wanting to take a trip to Alaska and I am wondering if this is prevalent throughout the ship. I am not sure I want to recommend a ship that looks like there are stains all over the staterooms. I have tried to figure out how to post a picture but can't seem to figure it out.

  3. We only got $300 back and once the obc, wine, and photo souvenir are subtracted then I guess its a little less than $150 that we actually are getting back.

I know any type of credit is good but it is just upsetting to think feel that it should be more based on the website and Princess' past policy. Even the rep at the beginning of the call said they adjust fares as long as there is not any stipulation like New Bookings Only.

  4. I had read that Princess would adjust the price if the cruise price went down even after final payment had been made. I noticed that our May 24 Alaskan cruise on the Golden Princess had dropped by almost $1000! I was so excited as other May cruises all had the New Bookings Only tag by them but mine did not.

I called Princess and the agent seemed initially to think an adjustment could be made but as the call went on she had to talk to a manager. Apparently it was supposed to say new booking and/or it is too close to sail. She did offer to refund $300 which was okay until I realized after I got off the phone that in the process she had eliminated our initial deal that had an obc, bottle of wine, and photo souvenir.

Has anyone had this experience? I was so happy but now I have so say I am not as excited as I was for our big once in a lifetime cruise. I feel that if the website does not state anywhere that it is for new bookings and it is in their normal practice to adjust fares then our fare should have been adjusted. I am just sad right now. To have $1000 adjusted would have been a huge deal for us. Can anyone make me feel better or have any advice?

  5. We went to Alaska May and June of this year and sailed into Glacier Bay the last week in May. Here is a short video slide show I put together of the Alaskan trip and about five minutes into the video it shows Glacier Bay. The big blue ship that is shown briefly in the background is a HAL ship that was there when we arrived. http://www.tomjed.com/index.php/alaska

I also wanted to say your site is amazing. I would love to someday go to all of the places you have been!

  6. We are planning to go on our first and probably only Alaskan cruise next May. We were planning on going on Celebrity which went to Tracy Arm but read here that sometimes that is not possible in May. So we are switching to a cruise that visits Glacier Bay. From what I have read, it seems like Glacier Bay is a sure thing. Is that correct?

  7. We would need to go in May due to my work schedule, and now I am really confused. From reading these boards, it looks like Tracy Arm is not a sure thing early in the season. We are definitely wanting to see the scenery (glaciers, wildlife, etc). Are we likely going to miss out if we take a cruise in May unless it goes to Glacier Bay? The Glacier Bay cruises seem to be priced higher, is that why? Should we consider Norwegian and Holland?

Thanks for all of the help

  8. My husband and I are planning our first Alaskan cruise, and we are not sure which line to choose. We need the cruise to be roundtrip Seattle and for 7 days. We have never been on Celebrity or Princess, but we enjoyed RCCL Liberty of the Seas.

The four cruises we are looking at are

    Celebrity Solstice

    Grand Princess

    Golden Princess

    Rhapsody of the Seas

We are in our early 40s and we will not be taking our kids on this trip. We don't mind dressing up for dinner, but we prefer jeans and tshirts during the day. We would like to have a table for 2 at dinner as we are not very outgoing.

What cruise is right for us? Any advice would be great.
