  1. We were recently charged a Cover Charge for the 18% gratuity at the Crown Grill on the Discovery Princess.    It was just added to our statement after our Crown Grill dinner.

So is this 18% gratuity also being added to a Chefs Table Dinner??

  2. I'm pleased to say that my Shareholder credit posted to my upcoming cruise.   I was late requesting it only 2 weeks before sailing.    I did use the Alinea option on my Iphone, and NOT Plaid as others had recommended.   After submitting it, they acknowledged receipt in a couple days and said they would submit to Princess for processing.     It took another 2 days.

I contacted Charles Schwab via chat at their website and asked them to generate a letter showing that I own 100 shares of Carnival stock. (Apparently, they get this request often.) 24 hours later, I received the letter via email. This way I am not giving up any additional information and there was no charge.

Yesterday, I emailed hello@stockperks.com, including my name, booking number, etc. and attached the email letter from Schwab. I received an automatic reply stating Stockperks would process my request.

I will report back with whatever happens next. For me, this was much easier than trying to use the app on my phone.

Thank you for this info.  Please report back and let us know if this worked well for you.   I'm still struggling with the app.

I just talked directly to a Princess Agent and was informed that their insurance does NOT cover you if you are on a private tour or "on your own" in a foreign port.   You are only covered off the ship if you are on a Princess sponsored tour.    So I will continue to buy an outside policy for medical coverage.

    Cheers,

    Carol

Correction!   My Princess Agent called me back and checked again with a Senior Supervisor.  She said you are indeed covered for medical issues even if you are on a private tour or on your own in any foreign port during the duration of your cruise.     I am sorry for posting the mis-information...... But very happy to know the Princess Insurance covers us on private excursions etc.

    Cheers,

    Carol

We just flew back from a T/A on the 23rd. We used EZ check for the three large bags FLL>SFO, best $50.00 ever spent. Put the bags in the hallway on the ship that last night and retrieved them in SFO. If you are flying first/business or otherwise don't have to pay the normal luggage fees, they will also be deferred for EZ check, there is a place to advise the status or reason, and likely will be checked. We flew first and only had to pay our $25.00 pp. as our first two bags each were included in the fare.

martinitime1 - Great news.   Thank you so much.   Love the idea of EZ check!

Thank you for this information.   If transatlantic from London, does EZ check still qualify?

Also, if flying First Class and no baggage fees are charged, does United still charge for this extra handling?

Thank you for the quick response.   I asked this question because a few years ago I was told that the Princess Insurance did not cover you if you were on a Private Tour.   I tried to find the info in their policy terms, but couldn't find anything.   I used to buy a separate policy to ensure we had coverage.    So I am happy to see that you are covered.

  9. I noticed on our upcoming cruise, the photo package available is $184 for 10 8x10s & USB.    The package I had before was for ALL photos plus USB.    Do you know if the USB scans ALL photos you take or just the 8x10's.   I particularily like the "port" photos.    Thanks, Carol

  10. I've read these reports but the OP is going to Europe.

We had to go to muster drill on our turnaround day in May this year and Alberta Quilter reported on her very recent live thread that muster drill was required on turnaround day.

I hope the OP doesn't need to (heck I hope I don't need to next year ;) ) but so far, it seems to be a tradition in Europe.

Thank you all for your input! We have decided to cancel this 9 hour private tour and play it safe by taking a ship tour!

    Thanks again,

    Cheers,

    Carol

  11. We plan on taking a 9-hour private tour on "turn-around day" out of Civitavechia on the Koningsdam. The ship will be leaving at 6 pm. What is the latest time we should be back to reboard before sailing time? We have never taken a private tour on disembark/embarkation day and wonder if you need to be back earlier because of muster drill etc.

  12. Just off the K'dam and purchased the $149 package. They no longer print 8" x 10" prints of everything but they do selectively put up ones they think are going to entice others. You are able to view the accumulated photos on the screen in your room and you can purchase individual prints that way if that's what works for you. If you purchase the package you get a (ship shaped) thumb drive with full resolution JPG files (not RAW) but they include all of the variations of the original shot - so there will be one file that is the full size shot and another file that (if printed) would be two medium size and four wallet-size (for example). You also get a digital release that allows you to take these to your favorite photo processing site and get prints without running afoul of their copyright.

Thank you for this information. We will purchase the Digital Photo Package for $99 for our 24 day cruise on the K'dam in October. This looks like a great deal!

    Cheers

  13. I always printed them out on 8.5 x 11 paper.

Are you not still doing that?

Unless you are cutting the paper, can you not still fold them into 3rds width like before?

Yes, I use 8.5 x 11 paper. When I referred to 4 1/2", that is when they are folded and ready to put in the luggage tag. Before I folded them, they are 9 inches long. They used to take the full 11" when printed. Sorry for confusion. I was able to make them fit in my luggage tags.

  14. I just called Princess and the girl said they have NOT changed the size of the luggage tags. She said maybe the people are printing them out wrong. Can you let us know the new size of the paper tags.

    My Cruise Critic plastic sleeve is 3 1/4'' X 6 1/4''.

    Tony

When mine are folded, they are 3 1/2" X 4 3/4". They have omitted Welcome Aboard and the Bar Code, which is why they are shorter. If you crease them a little more, they will fit in your plastic sleeves, which I have done. The lady I spoke to at Princess said they did indeed change to a new size very recently. I was just so surprised as the cruise I took 2 months ago printed the longer & narrower ones.

  15. I bought a new set of see through covers from Amazon, as the previous ones are for Azamara/ Celebrity/ RCCL, which are narrower.

The narrower plastic tags I have used to fit Princess luggage tags (as recently as last month). I just spoke to Princess on these new ones and evidently they have just changed the style to this shorter, wider one.

Thanks for the info about Amazon...

  16. Hello --

I just was able to print out our boarding passes for our upcoming cruise. However, the luggage tags are wider & much shorter than prior tags. They do not fit in the plastic cruise luggage tags I have used on many cruises. Not even sure they would fit around a luggage handle.

Has anyone else had this problem?

  17. Hi, you mention that you will be there in October. I'm wondering if you're doing a transatlantic? If so and Boston is your first USA port then you will have to go through Immigration which can be a nightmare. We queued for nearly 3 hours to go through immigration before getting of Navigator of the Seas. We were scheduled for immigration at 9.30 but only got off the ship near 1pm so just had to take a taxi to Quincy and back to the ship. Some folk never even got off in time.it didn't help much that Royal Caribbean had no landing cards so we had to wait until those were delivered.

We are on a transatlantic from Copenhagen in September.. And, Boston, will be our first USA port. I was wondering about immigration and thank you for this info. We plan on the Hop-on/Hop-off and hope to visit a museum, and then have lunch at Quincy somewhere for lobster rolls. Gee, I hope, we don't have that kind of an issue with immigration.

    Cheers,

    Carol

  18. We recently purchased a photo package on our Australian Transpacific (29-days) for $299. The photo package was not available for $99 due to the length of the cruise. We took many pictures, boarding, formal etc. I particularly liked the USB feature and saw that all was posted to the USB. However, when I got home recently, and went to upload my pictures, only one picture was there...the USB drive was corrupted. I called Princess, explained the problem. The representative referred the issue to a supervisor. I received an email the next day asking for some information so they could contact the ship that was now enroute to Alaska. Much to my surprise, they located the images. Yesterday, in the mail, I received a NEW flashdrive with all the images. Of course, I did have all of the photo prints, but having the USB was a bonus. Princess has definitely surprised and delighted me in handling this customer service problem. I was impressed.
