Not much activity here now, but here’s how our renewal went. Paid extra for expedited and priority mail for our passports. Used same envelope and wrote 1 check for both passports.

    1. Mailed priority mail, expedited Passport renewals on Apr 5, 2023.

    2. Received by Phila. Passport processing office Apr 11, 2023.

    3. Approved and shipped May 11, 2023.

    4. Due to receive both May 13, 2023 USPS priority. Will be in separate envelopes.

Counting from the date they received them in the passport office to return of new passports:  4 weeks and 4 days.

The reason they stopped the trial of the online renewal, was because they did not have a way to locate/trace the passport, if needed.  So, they have to reprogram that software.  That may be why there were problems with those passports being delayed.

Interestingly, our new passports were produced in the Tucson processing center. Mailed from there, priority 2 day.

Ours was received in Philadelphia but shipped from Hot Springs, Ar. Seems like they are catching up

This page has the info on the urgent process (for travel within 14 days):

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/get-fast.html

If your passport is taking too long, you can call to make an appointment at a passport office once your trip is within 14 days (the 14 includes the current day - to me that's 13 days). An unexpected trip came up when I was about to renew my passport anyway so I'm having to use that process. I did also call an expediter to see about using them, but they wanted about $900 bucks to do it (though I think that included the government fees as well as their fee). For that price, I decided I was willing to do the drive to our closest Passport office.

The expediter charges never included all the different passport fees

I checked the status every couple of days.  I only got 3 emails from them…they received my application, they were processing my application, and they shipped my passport.

I never got one email from them.

Yes old passport came back today. Online status says approved.

I’d be calling because that’s not the way it works. Have never heard of someone getting old passport and documents back before the new one. To me it raises a red flag.

We have not received any emails. We received our supporting documents today but still no passport.

You mean like your old passport and other papers? If so those should h Az be come afterwards. I got my passport today but don’t expect the other documents for a few weeks or more. What does online status show?

  6. I never got an email and most people say they never got one. I’d keep checking daily. I did expedited mail in for a renewal and got mine today. 24 days total from when I mailed it to receive it today. Way quicker than I expected as they were saying 7-9 weeks

The the status of DW's passport has never changed from processing even though it was on hold because of the rejected photo.

That’s terrible I can’t believe the pharmacy person didn’t know the rules. I took my glasses off myself before the photo person had a chance to either tell me or not if they didn’t know. Hope it all goes well and fast at this point

  8. I sent mine in the mail March 31st for expedited. Sent priority express and they got it the next day and cashed my check a day later. My status is still showing not available but it’s been just about 2 weeks. I also paid for the 1-2 day mail when it’s done. I need it in about 18 weeks. Just would like to see it get updated on the system
