Ugh!  Figures. What a bunch of crap.

It does make you wonder if they advertise a lower price to draw you in and then refuse to honor it after you book and spend time on it only to get you emotionally committed.

It could be considered good that they didn't accept the posted deal as Celebrity is not great for your kids.  Carnival is definitely a better cruise for kids than Celebrity.

  2. If you filled out the online docs no need to take a printed copy. You should receive sticky paper tags identifying your bags so they get delivered to the correct suite, a book w/ your itinerary and suggestions on what to bring, and luggage tags. We typically receive that package about 6-8 weeks in advance but only got it 2 days ago for a cruise in a month from now.

I hope as a 1st time Seabourn cruiser you took advantage of the $400 referral credit.

I'm interested in the $400 referral credit. Could you please contact me at HiediWeiss at gmail dot com.

  4. The high tier cabins on the ships are destinations in and of themselves.

When we cruised inside, we did the same as you...sleep, shower, leave. Although we took one of the best naps in our lives in an inside.

Relaxing on an aft balcony suite trancing on the ship's wake is a ritual revered by many, for example.

There's a reason not to spend much time in your cabin if it's an inside cabin. I can guarantee you will never find a reason to rush out of an aft balcony. Don't try it if you don't want to get hooked.

  5. You people are funny!

Hey! I have 100 shares too.

    FTMF (Faster to MY Fun).

CCL Corp trading at $40.87 right now. Got in at $33.65.

CCL closed at a 52 week high again. $41.25

They are obviously doing something right. We paid about $30 a share a few years ago and we enjoy the onboard credit for being a stockholder as well as the dividend.

There's more to FTTF than getting on first. You also get off first. That's a big deal if you're in a time crunch to get home. Another Platinum perk is free laundry and the Captain's Party with free drinks. We've never paid for FTTF because we're Platinum but I can tell you that other passengers say it's definitely worth it. Your choice.

  6. quick question. we are on the Valor in 45 days. 1st time on Carnival. we have been on Princess & RCCL. on those ships there are places where you can go to pickup "snacks" - pastries-sandwiches-and such at no charge. are there places on the Carnival ships that have the same?

They have soft serve ice cream 24 hrs a day and there's a deli counter open most of the day and the pizzeria in the back of the ship is open long hours. All of these items are no additional charge. There's a coffee shop with pretty pastries for an additional fee but the buffet coffee is always free.

  7. the problem is that Carnival does not at all a look like this. It looks like rather has a cafeteria...

I haven't been on all of the Carnival ships but I can honestly say that none of the ships I've sailed on have Main Dining Rooms that look like cafeterias. I certainly could understand why you wouldn't want to continue to sail with Carnival if you feel that their Main Dining Rooms look like cafeterias. You must have some fancy cafeterias up in Canada.

  8. I hate when people say "if you don't want to dress up go eat at the buffet". My family does not like to eat dinner at the buffet. We HATE to dress up. I wear nice shorts in the MDR on casual nights. On dress up night I wear nice new dark jeans and a polo. That is how I am comfortable. We like eating in the MDR. We don't want buffet food for dinner.

We are very well off. We can afford any cruise line. We stick with NCL and Carnival because of the dress code. Every time I stray and look at Cunard or Princess my wife reminds me about the dress code. I say oh yeah.

We eat dinner at many 5 star restaurants. Many of them do not have table cloths. Our favorite is Morton's Steakhouse. We eat their weekly. Normally I wear jeans but sometimes nice shorts. Some people dress up. Whatever they want it doesnt affect my experience whatsoever. I am a very good tipper and the staff are always happy to see me. They not care what I wear.

I guess I'm just a low class kind of guy. :)

Well said. I hope I never get to the point that I stop cruising a particular cruise line because of no tablecloths. As a CCL stockholder, I have absolutely no problem with tablecloths only appearing on formal night. It's also a very eco-friendly decision to make. Just think of all the water savings if there's only one or two nights with tablecloths as opposed to every night. I have no problem with no tablecloths and our family eats dinner out every single night. :) Life is Good my friend.

  9. Jacks Shack, a few picnic tables on an open deck , the best think about JS is the view of the ocean , but you see the same ocean all the way down the beach. If it rains on your parade ,bring your umbrella. Nasty rest room. Grill that has not been cleaned since day one. One of our group tried the jerk chicken , stayed sick for the rest of his cruise icon4.gif.

Jacks Shack , not for me .

......for the most current review of JS. It helped me decide what to do and where to go on the island.

  10. We took a Western Carribean Cruise aboard the Carnival Legend recently and on January 22nd, we visited Cozumel and had a wonderful island tour with our driver Cantaro. After disembarking, we found Cantaro with the provided instructions without any issues. He was very easily identified with his yellow cap. Our tour was amazing! We had three passengers to split the $100 charge and were picked up in a comfortable, spacious, and clean van. We requested a driver who spoke good English, had great history knowledge of Cozumel & had a friendly personality. Cantaro was perfect for us. We visited the cacao factory and the mayan ruins at San Gervasio. He found a great place to buy vanilla at a great price for my island souvenirs. I would highly recommend Cantaro when you're booking with Driver for a Day in Cozumel. :D

  12. I really enjoyed this cabin...V21.

    2131550920063368414bZGugL

We love the Verandah obstructed view suites. The price is cheaper because the view is partially obstructed, you get on and off the ship first because you're in a suite and best of all, there's never a crowd making noise in this area because it's in the front of the ship just below the gym and there's much less foot traffic up there. I will however mention that we had cabin V-5 on a previous cruise and we heard one of the weight machines from the gym all day long. Carnival gave us a refund check as well as 15% off a future cruise. Lesson learned - always check the deck plans and book a cabin that has another cabin above and below it.

  13. This cabin is directly below some weight machines in the gym. From 6:00 a.m. till 10:10 p.m., there is a constant banging of weight equipment coming from the gym. Two thirds of every day, we heard and felt the gym equipment being used above our heads. Don't make my mistake. Stay away from V-5 on the Fantasy.
