Bingo. We travel to experience the local culture and food. Now I like to have decent food and having been in the business my whole life, I know good food but I don’t think there is a cruise line out there that is capable of serving 5 star food. There are just too many people. That said I’ve been on Holland America, Celebrity, Regent, NCL, Disney, Royal Caribbean, Tauck and Windstar. There have been good meals and some so so meals but we certainly were never hungry. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Are there any upscale cruises on the Thames for lunch or are they all pretty cheesy?

We return to Gatwick from Bergen on May 23rd after a 15 day cruise. We will have spent a few days pre cruise in London but since we don’t leave until early evening on the 24th out of Heathrow I am wondering if we should book that one night in the city or stay out by the airport and just taxi in for the morning/afternoon. Any advise? Thanks.

I appreciate the information. We aren't young so I sure pray that isn't the only option. Our flight arrives at 10:35am. I am hoping that all eyes and people will be at the cathedral at that time and we can sneak in. I'm sure it will be at a premium but I'm hoping.

I agree. TBH my biggest fear is that they don't have a room for us when we arrive. They can triple the price we booked now since we booked even before the Queen passed.

UGH. We arrive On the 6th and our hotel is adjacent to Buckingham palace. A blessing and a curse. I tried to make a reservation for dinner at the hotel and the entire week is blocked.

I’ve seen Invergordon described as a big oil rig. 😬 It seems that what is the charm is the countryside. Looking for a private guide as apposed to a large bus.

Thank you. Good advice. Inverness is a very good example. Not wanting to do a long bus tour with a big group. Looking for a more intimate option or just transportation to the nearest town/pub.

Are Ubers available all over Great Britain and Ireland? Are there generally taxis available at the cruise ports?
