  1. We have been there 3 times. 2 without incident. The one time we had a van taxi take us there with about 6 others we did not know and as usual reserved payment upon his return. I guess we were having to much fun because when we got out of the water, I noticed that the others from the group were not there. The barkeep called for a taxi but of course you're on island time and we were cutting it short. Thank God, 2 young gals from Omaha had just arrived by car. I politely TOLD them that we needed a ride back to the ship NOW. If you have been on the roads there you know what I am talking about when I say it was a wild ride back. Undaunted, I'm still going back in 9 days. This time we may have the taxi stay with us, spend a few hours at Brewer's, hit the rum distillery on our way to Cane Garden and in a timely manner head back to the ship. Actually I don't think I answered your question. Oh well. You only live once, go for it.

  2. The best thing regarding water on the ship is: Have your room steward leave you a bucket (or 2) of ice at the end of the day. It will partially melt throughout the night. Excellent way to get COLD WATER when you really need it in the early A.M. A purist will drink straight from the bucket. Hopefully you are all family or close friends.

  3. We are looking for a nice beach area for in and out of the water. We would also like to have some authentic food and of course beverages on the beach or close by. 2 years ago we were in the general area but I don't know exactly where. All I remember is it was a wide stretch of sand with some hotels and a few little eateries/bars that were beachside. The taxi dropped us off at the end of a short paved beach access. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  4. OH CONTRERE

I Like NCL AND service. Maybe I am totally off base. I would like to pay ;(Let's be honest and call it gratuities) and not pay for bad service but for good service.

How canyou dispute that? Maybe we should reward bad service with a tip and say the hell with the people that provide good service.

  5. Well, here we go again. I feel that you should (bad word to some) tip, according to services rendered. I understand your philosophy regarding the crew not getting a fair pay out the door. That's not on me. That is on NCL and the prospective employee. They should know what they are getting into before they sign a contract. So what do you do to rectify a situation where the service was, let's say for conversation sake , awful? Still have the DSC go to them? It makes more sense to pay them for their great service individually or as on land give them an amount according to the quality of service. What is the incentive to provide good service when you know that they will be sharing the DSC no matter what. Does that not then have the potential for you and I not to cruise with them again?

  6. Hey I'll give you guys a rundown ASAP. Since we are in only from 7-1 (I know why but it's BS) This year even though it is a short day I am trying to figure out how to spend a couple of hours at brewer's and a couple at cane garden ( with a SHORT stop at the distillery between the two) as our adult kids have been to neither. Any comments on this strategy would be appreciated.

  7. We have cruised out of NYC a handful of times. Always parked at Port Imperial and taken the ferry over. As others have said, once you get over to the city the ship is only a few blocks away. All luggage today has rollers. Not only is the ferry parking more reasonable BUT getting back on the road is easy and quick. I would imagine that with all those people getting off the ship and trying to get through city traffic would be more than I would want to do.

  8. You can find places in town or even at isle verde along the beach. A short ride though to pinones will hook you up with all the food that THEY are eating . Outdoor stands along the water. Sat. may be crowded. Give it a shot brother. You only live once. PS Do this on every island you go to. Tell the cab driver take me to a place where you would eat. Buy him lunch. Happy travels. Joe
