I have a letter from when I emailed a vp saying it's up to each ship if they return port charges to you. They dont have a policy for all changed or missed ports. If port charges go up you arent billed for the difference so if they go down you arent due the lower port charges on this cruiseline.

They might but I got back nothing.

    Ok thank you

    My comment was sarcasm. 😏

But the dress code isn't based on what anyone finds "sexy," it's based on societal norms.  But, the dress code does NOT restrict men from wearing dresses.  It DOES restrict WOMEN from wearing shorts though.  So it's completely fair...NO ONE is to wear shorts to dinner.  But ANYONE can wear a dress to dinner.  So there you go.

Societal norms are anchored in the patriarchy, ie what men find sexy.

I hope they officially give you your assignment relatively soon;  that had happened for us previously. That gives you better odds of catching a chance to swap.

Once I stayed in “bar code status” for weeks, watching nicer cabins in my category disappear and then the entire cruise sell out.  Our assigned cabin was so-so and we thought we’d stay put.  Someone must have cancelled a few days before the cruise, as our RoyalUp bid won. You never know.

how do you see what cabins are available?

Ship water is fine to drink. I just like the convenience of grabbing a cold bottle/can from the cabin fridge/cooler to bring with me to the pool deck, ashore, etc. I don’t drink alcohol and water is my beverage of choice. I drink 6-8 bottles or cans every day.

Same, I wasn't going to get a drink package because I mostly just like water. Just made me nervous to see the bottles being sold. Do you know if we can bring a canteen or bottle to refill?

My husband had in depth conversations with the head waiter every night and on the last night we asked how many people removed their tips and he responded with an overwhelming  "over 1000 people this cruise".  It was an Oasis class ship in Sept. and chances are still more were at guest services that night to do the same. Plus the  nagging persistence to score everyone a ten on the after cruise survey.  If they don't get tens, they don't get their full share of the tip.  Our waiters have told us that if there is a problem with the food on the survey that also screws their tip.  So the surveys are meaningless and I get so tired of the panicked speeches every cruise to score them with 10's.  BUT, the cruise question that asks if anyone discussed the survey with you, answer no.  All of this information has come from staff on numerous cruises.

Thats illegal to keep tips, how do they manage that?

  6. I tried the search but didn't come up with anything, I'm sure this has been asked. We're doing a 7 day mexico rivera cruise in April, but we are both a bit introverted and also trying to be smart with our money. Are excursions a must on port days? Are there things to do at the ports that are free-ish? Like somewhere to eat and people watch or chill? Or walk around and self tour?

  7. Hi!

I'm just going to jump right in here... Can I wear my wedding dress (no train! Silk full skirt and lace top) out on the ship for selfies? Can I decorate our room somehow? I see there's an anniversary decor package but I can't see what it looks like anywhere. We are going in April, are crowds crazy then? Or Cold? We're looking at the unlimited dining package, and we did traditional dining at 530, (but I don't know what that means). Is the dining package worth it? (currently 420 for both). If I'm super honest we both tend to get overstimulated with crowds so I'm more trying to decide what is the best "go with the flow" choice vs the cheapest option. (think no lines and least stressful decision process). My concern with the dining plan is having to make last minute reservations and being concerned there wont be any available? We're total foodies though, that's part of the reason he wants to do the cruise. Is there anything I'm missing?
