  1. When I was on the Prima transatlantic from NYC in May 2023 a lot of people used the solo lounge as a hangout, particularly after two of our Iceland port stops were canceled and we were doing circles out at sea. A bunch of us were hunkered down in the lounge drinking coffee and watching the ship make loops on the TV screen. It was also a convenient place to meet up before going to dinner/drinks/parties. The actual hosted solo meetups were in either a bar or the comedy club when I was on board.

Hmm, interesting about "sus/sussed". About a year ago I heard it being used by middle school/high school kids all the time. Maybe it's a western/central NY thing!

Its recent popularity likely comes from the video game Among Us. It became very popular in mid-2020, and that's when I remember that word becoming commonplace online as well.

Anyone know what added "fresh juice" benefits?  Do they actually have fresh squeezed orange juice, for example, with the Plus package?  Looking at spending a week on Spirit and considering the upgrade for bottled water, Wifi, extra dining and fresh juice if it is really fresh squeezed.

Not sure about Spirit, but on the Gem in January they had fresh squeezed juice at the breakfast buffet in the spot they put the scoopable ice cream during other meals. They had a variety of fruits/veggies and you could order whatever combo you wanted - I got carrot orange ginger most mornings, and it was lovely. After a couple of days the staff person recognized me and would start reaching for the carrots when he saw me, lol. The glass was quite large too. If you didn't have Plus, I think it was about $3, but I'm not certain.

  4. Veuve, Bailey's, too much Starbucks, Pellegrino, and the Inniskillin ice wine is amazing. I'm not a huge wine drinker, but the wine steward at Le Bistro suggested the ice wine when she saw I had the plus package and I am so happy she did. I didn't remember to ask for my margaritas and rum drinks to be made with the top shelf stuff, but I will on my next cruise. Like others here, it wasn't just about the premium alcohol but the entire package (especially not having to remember to log off of the internet or watch minutes). I feel like I about broke even with the specialty meals, bottled waters, and Starbucks so the upscale boozy drinks were just a lovely bonus. I also went to a chocolate and wine tasting, only because the plus package gave me 40% off the cost; for around $15, it was a very nice way to spend a leisurely couple of hours on a sea day. For me, the plus package was worth it and I'll likely budget to be able to upgrade again on future cruises. I'd still have a wonderful cruise without it, but it was definitely nice to have. I feel the same way about the thermal spa.

You will have, at most 3 hours at Disney. It’s really better done as a separate trip. You need a lot more time for Disney or it’s really a waste of money

I think we'll have more, but even so it's not a waste for me. I've been before and know just where I want to go and what I want to see again. I didn't book shore excursions at the other ports because nothing really caught my eye, and this trip is my reward for surviving a hellish semester. I agree that I'd love to have more time at Disney, but I'm thrilled to get to go at all.

  6. Silly question, but do the tub/showers in Club Balcony suites have a non-slip surface or a bath mat in them? I've taken a nasty fall in a slippery shower before and I really don't want that to happen on my vacation, especially since I'm travelling solo.

  7. I'm so glad you posted this thread! I'm on a January cruise out of NY too and have been having the same quandary about what to pack. It's also my first cruise, so it's a bit of a challenge figuring out what I'll need. We're either on the same cruise, or one very similar, as mine is also going to Bermuda/Bahamas and I just booked the transfer to Disney for the day we're in Port Canaveral. I can't start serious planning until I'm done with finals next week, but I'm definitely bookmarking this thread for reference.
