I was on Ocean Odyssey for world tour (all prepaid of course) until yesterday when told to get off ship in Rome with all other passengers due to Covid and ransomware demand.  Neither of which appear to be true.  Offered 2 days without tours in Rome Hotel. Declined and requested immediate return to USA.  Sent to airport by cab to Delta with all flight details and ID number  BUT not ticket number.  Delta advised the seat had been reserved and everything fine EXCEPT Vantage had never paid.  My only choice after communicating with ship's cruise director (who honestly did everything she could to fix the unfixable) was to pay Delta a second time in order to get home so that is what I did. 

Expect $50,000 refund in my next life,

I got my visa and paid little attention to where the first touchdown was to be figuring if they will let me into the country through one door they will let me in another. I couldn’t get the visa in December either as they only allowed a 60 day window but did get it without a fuss this month. Sri Lanka was harder but only because I couldn’t find my way out of a paper bag and didn’t understand which city belongs to which country and Vantage doesn’t necessarily say..

You can go to the websites of each individual country to see what their particular requirements are and where they provide visas. I am on this trip for the duration and have been getting the visas required before arriving at their ports. So far that includes Australia, Sri Lanka, and India with Oman being optional either beforehand or at the port.  The only issue I have is that Sri Lanka will not provide their visa this far in advance so I will have to wait to apply closer to the time I arrive in March. If I can’t get it before I leave the USA I will apply from Australia. 

Sort of.  I start w a pre-trip in Sydney then on to Darwin to embark on what are 14 back to back trips.  So I essentially am on a five month trip with overnight stops in Sri Lanka and  Egypt and I end up in Stockholm, Sweden from where I fly home in July.  Thus we will be on the same ship for awhile.  I live in Prescott, AZ

I embark in February in Australia. Anxious to learn as much as possible about cruising on the Ocean Odyssey perhaps meeting other passengers as I will be on board for five months solo.
