  1. There are USB ports at the head of the bed, but if you have an iPhone 14 your plug won’t work. Bring the plug to use the outlet.

there is a plug in the bathroom above the sink as well for shavers etc. I also bring one of these 3 outlets to use.   I also keep an old card in the door light switch because when you pull it out the power to some of the cabin shuts off.  I plug a clock in so want it to stay on.

these tiny USB nightlights off SHEIN are great as well.

  2. I was on the 12/3 sailing on LEGEND from Baltimore.   My cabin was forward/ Deck 4. It was VERY cold the first night and the the last night with blowers on full.  I turned the temp gauge all the way down and although it wasn’t necessarily blowing out heat it did turn the blowers down which helped.

All ships do have Heat/AC capability.  However, remember it’s not particularly room by room designated… more like Deck to deck.  If your sailing through/from a cooler climax are naturally the system will be trying to work with what temps the intake is getting.  Cold will give you Colder days.

After a day of sailing down the east coast in DEC, the room began to normalize with temps.  It definitely was more a Blower on high or low setting I had to adjust rather than Hot to Cold.

  3. GRAND TURK TIPS:

ALL BEACHES ARE FREE ON GRAND TURK

1- If you plan to use the beach just off the ship (in front of Margaritaville)  Bring water shoes.    Grand turk is a SHELF and year ago most of the sand just in the water was washed out so it is a lot of sharp and rocky coral foundation.      OR you can walk up the beach past the umbrellas and Jack's shack where the sand and Beach is clean and sand in the water.

2- If you want a good excursion cheap..  walk just outside the Port gate.    ISLAND TOURS (run by locals) has Tram car for like $25 that circles the island.   $10 each for groups 10 or more.   The moped, golf cart rentals are also outside.

3- You can rent a golfcart outside the gate and drive up the coast to SUPER clean and beautiful beaches to use.

4- stop at the Grand Turk museum.  It is a small house you walkthru for like $5 pp   Packed with history on the SALT INDUSTRY and the space capsule landing.     Then walk across the street to the beach.   There are a couple food trucks and stands right there as well.

5- FLAMINGOS are nesting there until about APRIL-JUNE in the salt flats in center of the island. at peak time it is a SEA of PINK.   Flamingos are naturally GRAY and only turn pink from feeding on Brine shrimp in the salt flats

    ENJOY GRAND TURK

I submitted a request for shareholder OBC on 8/23 and just received the response:

    image.png.c61f71a87c1d219a7b7035603f5718ae.png

I booked the Plan Now, Sail Later rate which included OBC. When I do a mock booking for the same cruise, all of the rates include some sort of promotion or discount (room upgrade, OBC, reduced deposit).  Does anyone know which rates would qualify so I know for future reference?

resubmit it.  I had this before, resubmitted and it was approved.  I only really book casino offers anymore.   Have not had a cruise yet where it was not applied in the last 20+ cruises on CCL.

Do they get free cruises as a perk?

they are allowed to book cruises during their vacation time... as long as there is a room available.  The cost is covered for a basic room, upgrades are available at cost.    They can also book an extra room for family at a discounted cost.     PVP's don't make "commission", but instead they get sort of a "point rating" according to bookings, feedback and referrals.

uhmmm you mean this?  Carnival.com is where you can find the Have Fun Be Safe Protocols page for answers like this and more AND its even updated frequently.  Quicker than waiting for an email.

    SAFE SHORESIDE EXPERIENCES (UPDATED 05/04/22)

It will be necessary to follow the health protocols for every port we visit, which are under the control of local authorities and subject to change without prior notice. All guests, regardless of vaccination status, must come prepared to follow local guidance pertaining to mask wearing, physical distancing, testing/health screenings, etc.

Travel Authorization & Destination Health Questionnaires

The following destinations require the completion of a Travel Authorization or a health questionnaire for guests traveling to the said destinations. Except where otherwise noted, the QR coded provided at the end of the process must be presented at time of check-in.

    • Bermuda – access Travel Authorization application here Indicates external site which may or may not meet accessibility guidelines. Opens in a new window.. A US$40, per person, fee applies for guests age 2 years and older.
    • Canada – access ArriveCAN application here Indicates external site which may or may not meet accessibility guidelines. Opens in a new window..
    • Spain – a paper passenger locator form will be provided during the cruise.

    Itinerary Adjustments

Should it be necessary to cancel any or multiple ports, we will do our best to find alternative destinations. However, if we are unsuccessful in doing so, there will be no compensation for missed ports, beyond a refund of any pre-purchased Carnival shore excursions.

it’s called LAZY.  They need the answer RIGHT NOW, dear god their cruise is only 3 months away. LOL  Going to the actual source of for the answer to the question? How absurd, when you can go to a forum and get answers from various people that have nothing to do with the cruiseline at all.  The OP will probably post a follow up at the port how upset they are because a random CC member gave them wrong information.

it always cracks me up how people can’t do proper searches at the source, but are experts to access chat forums and complaint forums

    LOL

  7. I solo cruise a lot.
    No more

•where & when you want to eat

    •trouble choosing excursions
    •waiting for someone

    •searching for show seats

•go where you want at your pace

    •turn in when you want

MOST RELAXING VACATIONS I’ve ever had and I meet more people easier as well.

Personally, I think everyone should do a solo vacation at least once in their lifetime just to experience it.

100 shares is what you need.

    $100 OBC

    I use TD Ameritrade

I already have over 100 shares.   Picked up a bunch more when they really sank last year planning to hold them for a while when it eventually moves back up to "normal levels"   It may take a year or two, but will eventually get there an make me more $.

i also got MORE just in case CCL decides to up the 100 share total for OBC as well.

  9. I would not worry about this unless you see another stock sell off like he did back in May2020 with SPCE stock.    According to Virgin Group it would use the stake sale proceeds "to support its portfolio of global leisure, holiday and travel businesses that have been affected by the unprecedented impact of COVID-19"     So pretty sure those funds were shifted over to their Virgin Voyages sector since the airlines and train venture folded.

Although the fleet is not bringing in any revenue and not spending on supplies like booze, food, etc; it does have a cost to keep them afloat and running.  This could become interesting as each new ship hits the water with no passenger revenue coming in.

  10. They also have different sailing dates listed and the SE is also offering higher FUNPLAY CREDITS.

I have an OCT trip booked under a past Premier offer, and this SE is now listing that trip with higher Funplay credits ($200 vs $500).    My cruise rate IS slightly higher on the SE, but the casino credits are over double and out-benefit the difference in the cruise rate.    It has a different rate code, but I was going to give my PVP a call to see if it can be switched/matched since they are both "Premier offers" and pick up the extra Funplay$.   I would be willing to pay the difference in cruise rate cost since I would basically get it back plus more in credits.

  11. Normally, for me it does not show up for a couple weeks.   However I usually book trips that are fairly close to sailing.   If it is a trip in the distant future I was told by my PVP, that you may not see it until much later and once you get within 90 days.     That's because they don't want to issue credits to people that have stock when they book, but then sell it off before the sailing.  You should own the stock when sailing not just when booking.

Actually, both of my sentences say the same thing. I was asking why it is less expensive for me to select a cabin vs the guarantee category.

it could actually be due to the deck location.

When you select to CHOOSE your own you could actually be seeing all the unassigned cabins from the lower cheaper rates all the way up to the highest upper rates for your type (INT, OV, BAL, STE)

When you select “CHOOSE FOR ME” the computer may be calculating Total unassigned cabins minus already GTY bookings.  So it is already eliminating in the background X amount of cabins that expect to be assigned later.  If it thinks 50% of those available cabins are going to be assigned it may be eliminating the cheaper ones first.

    just a thought 🤷🏼‍♂️

I have often considered a GTY CABIN but will always check the CHOOSE MY OWN first just to see what is available.   If the options are not great, then I may just go ahead and select my own, or consider the next type up.

  13. I am booked in 11207.  The elevator they may be talking about could be the SPA elevator since these are SPA CABINS.   They are not regular elevators.  It’s a single glass elevator with a spiral staircase around it.    The room is the same SIZES and layout as the other interiors 170 sq ft.

11207 is Directly under the Gym area where the steppers are.  So think the corner where they hold the spa raffle

  14. I had this chat with a bunch of people one night at the alchemy bar.  My favorites have been: the satchel messenger bag & Turvis Tumblers.   Use both all the time.

suggestions: Things we Came up with & could actually use like:

    -RAIN PONCHO

(preferably one that doesn’t have a HUGE carnival logo plastered on my back screaming TOURIST 🤣)

    -WIFI MINUTE CREDITS

    -VIFP LEVEL DOOR TAG

    -PASSPORT HOLDER (or billfold)

    -NIGHTLIGHT

    -FLIP FLOPS/ shower shoes

    -KEY CHAIN

Kind of a random question.  We were getting off the Magic last week in Miami and in back of the Horizon.  I noticed a sign over the back of the ship and if I remember correctly it said "Fun Ship" in huge letters.  Is that painted on or is it a tarp they use when they pull into Miami?  I thought it looked kind of tacky.

Its a Tarp.   It’s because it’s the Newest carnival flagship

  16. Great review and glad you saw the positive side of this ship like I did.  I was also on this sailing and have to agree.  The HORIZON is a beautiful ship and I am already looking to re-book a sailing in possibly DEC for the other itinerary it does.    I just submitted my lengthy review.   It's primarily about the SHIP and what it offers.   I also submit my reviews to the cruise lines as feedback.

My favorite thing aboard by far was the NEW AGE TRIO- Electric violinists.  BRAVO.    They were captivating.  Its nice to see Carnival continuing to add quality side entertainment.

I did not particularly like the new floor seating in the theater.  I understand the want to bring the performers into the audience, but the lack of drink tables and tight chair formations.  MEH.

The new SMART ELEVATORS work well when smart passengers take the time to learn and use them.    I tend to use the stairs but I did try the elevators a couple times for my review.    Most of the time there were passengers just crowding in to whatever doors opened up without following the instructions.  Then complained when it was not going where they wanted and/or that there were no buttons inside to choose a floor.

My review should be up once approved in a coupe days.     Safe travels onward everyone.

  17. This is just one of numerous reasons why I think Dream class ships are far superior to Vista class ships. It’s also why I continue booking cruises on Dream class ships instead of Vista class ships.

I love all the Dream class ships. This will be my first Vista class sailing. My casino rate was too good to pass up. (Took a hiatus since I’m Platinum for for a brief time and been accumulating my Princess levels)

  18. There is no Thalassotherapy pool on the Horizon (nor the Vista). What you are seeing is a 6-8 seat rectangular jetted hot tub. No special minerals added nor aromatherapy scents, no variation of jets for the tiled ledge you sit on (so no lounger seating), and no special shoulder fixture. Just the same 15 minute cycle controls for jets and bubbler as found in the outdoor deck hot tubs

Hmmm thanks. I’m glad I didn’t pre-book it then. I’ll have to see if I just want to stick with the regular gym sauna and maybe spend the $ on a massage package or the casino 🙂. As much as I like the aroma steams to help open up my nasal passages, the thelosotheropy pool was A+ sell for me. I’m quite surprised they eliminated it. I’ll go take the spa tour once on board and see.

    Thanks for the Info

  19. FTTF DOES get you in room at embarkation. That's the main reason why many people get it.

Thanks for the reply. FTTF started after I was platinum so I never needed to access my stateroom. However, I have sailed with others who have had it and their staterooms were still unavailable being cleaned. They were allowed to drop items, but the stateroom itself was not ready. It’s happened more then once.

  20. One thing to watch for booking Deck11 (or any deck) is location. I sailed the Breeze and booked spa cabin 11211. It was an interior which I didn’t mind, I got a better deal to take the INT-SPA over a Cove. Great location for the back access to the spa.

Each early morning I kept hearing a Thump. Thump. Thump. By day three I took a walk to check what was on Deck 12. My stateroom was directly under the pull weight bench. So each morning I was up as the early birds started to work out. LOL

It was tolerable, but now I always check what part of the gym or spa is above me.
