Yes, the hotel is "nice". It is a solid 3* hotel, about the same level as a Best Western Plus hotel (which happens to be next door, the Best Western Plus Island Palms Hotel). There are a few places to eat in walking distance, but very limited. An area like Liberty Station would offer a lot more choices.

So, we booked the Bay Club and Marina for three nights for $418, fully refundable until the 9th of January. It had a 9/10, and looks like pretty close to uber to the places we want to go to.

How far is that from the ship? Husband wants to visit the Midway Museum. Is it near Sea World? Im not at all familiar with San Diego. I assume Liberty is a section?

Nice place, but not where I'd stay one night before a cruise, or without a car.

If prices for a place look too good to be true, there is usually a reason.

We’re coming in two nights early and staying a night after the cruise. Hope to go to Sea world. We’re used to ubering. So the actual hotel is nice?

When I said cabin, I meant off one of the guests listed on the cabin, not all guests.  I have not known a cruise line to offer a discount like that for all guests in a single cabin.

That’s interesting. Msc voyage person had told me on the phone before I booked we would get 5% off the cabin total minus tax and port charges. At least that explains why it’s so little.

Might have been a good night to try the buffet.

Hmm, so I should go to the over crowded buffet (because that’s where the people who were honest about missing their set time went, when one of our group went to look lol), try to find a table while the food I just picked up gets cold on my plate? No, not that night, although normally we like the Regal buffet.

I understand on the Regal the Medallion takes place of your cruise card.  How do they verify your Traditional Dining table assignment?  In the past the table assignment was listed on your cruise card.

They had computers at the podium on the Regal when you came into anytime dining. The idea was they would ck to make sure you had anytime. The gal got overwhelmed and stopped checking. Several people had missed their regular early dining (slow tenders) and overcrowded our anytime.  They should not have been allowed, but that night it was a free for all. I definitely missed having a room card that night with dining listed. They gave us a card with type and time of dining listed on it but it didn’t say to bring it with you, so people didn’t. Long waits that night.

  7. While this isn’t about Princess insurance (although we do get it now when on Princess), several years ago my husband got Noro on the Grand and had to stay in his room for 48 hours. Someone from CC said to put the two days into our travel insurance and what a surprise, we got two days back (because the doc wouldn’t let him out of our room) of missed vacation.

  8. With coupon SS was $18 to SP, but we circled the airport for almost an hour and had to drop a lot of people off. In two weeks we are taking uber for sbout the same price. We stayed at the Best West plus when the Crowne was full. We really liked it. We had airplane problems and got there six hours late, so the couple places to eat were closed. The gal behind the desk rounded us up some food.

The breakfast was very good and loaded with cruisers.

CVS was a short walk to get some supplies. During the day we thought it as safe as the Crowne, which also had some dodgy people once the sun went down,

that said we also loved staying at LB with the free trolley. Uber to SP from LB (Queen Mary) was $15.. cab was $30.

  9. The shuttle in Ensenada is $3 one way $4 rt. However by the time we walked the town, it would be longer to walk back to the bus, than the ship, so they made a couple dollars on us and most everyone else lol!

That shuttle was such a waste.. the town is so close to the ship, but they take you a convulated way to make it seem longer.

  10. We just cruised with a friend who had this obc. One thing that was different from our stock obc, was his veterans obc was refundable... what he didn’t use (we all had free gratuities so he didn’t need it for that), he was refunded after the cruise. His portfolio said right on it, it was refundable.
