  1. We arrive in port Piraeus at 8am on a Saturday and looking at a tour that starts at 9am which meets at the Acropolis.  Thoughts if this is enough time to arrive and travel to the meeting point?  I assume it is easy to get a taxi from the port?   Looks to be about 20 min travel time.  Would we be impacted by traffic at that hour?

       thanks

  2. Thanks, I do see rentals at the train station in Google Maps.  We are probably just going to stick to Cannes rather than St Paul De Vence.  We arrive in Cannes at 7:30am and leave at 3pm.  Considering we have to tender in and out, plus the 45 minute drive each way to St Paul, we would only realistically have a couple hours tops to spend there and that is if everything goes smoothly.  Seems like it's going to be easier to stay in Cannes and explore there.

  3. We are considering using uber from Cannes port to St Paul De Vence and back again.  The rate estimates are 59 Euro one way (assuming no surge pricing).  Taxis come in around 90 Euro.   Has anyone done this?  Is it easy to call an uber in both areas?  I'd rather call them on the spot then schedule one ahead of time if they are easy to catch, unless we have to wait hours for one.

              thanks

You can purchase tickets on line ahead of time but there's really no need to, lines are almost never more than 15 minutes long (this is the limit imposed by the service contract).

The only official on line purchase site is here:  Pompeii - TicketOne

Thanks!  Yeah, the official site is not terribly friendly and only goes out 30 days.  Since we travel in  late August, I'll just wait to get them as it approaches.  I also fear that the lines will be crazy when August rolls around.

  5. Did you buy your tickets to Pompeii separate?  We are looking at doing a similar tour with italytours.eu and it says the tickets are not included in the price, but it is a guided tour of Pompeii.  Do they get the tickets for you and you pay on the spot or do they expect you to arrive with tickets already purchased?  If so, was it skip the line tickets?

           thank you

  6. Thoughts on the free at sea drink package for 2 very light drinkers of alcohol (maybe a drink each every other day would be our max)?  With gratuities totaling nearly $25/day per person for the package, I don't think we would spend that much.  Wife does not drink soda and mostly just water.  Better to have water delivered to room or does the soda package allow regular water (just read tonic and soda water, neither of which she can drink)?
