No you will not see people leaving tips on the table left and right.  For instance, I would estimate that when I'm sitting in a bar I only notice 5-10% of the patrons leave a tip.  A small minority. It's totally a personal choice.

This. I’m on the Royal Princess Wheelhouse bar as I post this. I have been watching for tips throughout the cruise. I have seen extra tips happen 7 times in the past 6 days, not counting casino table tips.

Ok.. I shouldn't laugh at this.. I was trying to be diplomatic about the weather.  But yeah, It's effing cold and snowy on our mountain. It's the PNW.

I wouldn’t have it any other way! I’m from the Deep South, this is refreshing. Back home it’s 90s and humid.

I couldn’t have asked for better weather so far. I hope the good weather vibes follow me on to the ship.

Welcome to your first cruise!  The Royal is a wonderful ship with fantastic staff.  I was just on her in March for a Coastal Cruise.  The Forks area and the rainforest up that way are gorgeous.  Paradise is a fabulous drive but it's still pretty cool this time of year.  You may still see patches of snow up that way.  Look forward to seeing you onboard!

    Absolutely!

I’m posting this while sitting in the stunning lobby of the Paradise Inn. It’s not cool, it’s cold! 36. There is still PLENTY of snow

  4. Thanks for the list! I am going on my first cruise in June. I have been curious what the menu may look like.

I am a porter/stout fan. There was only one on that whole list. That's.......disappointing.

    • I've been with family as well as solo - when I go solo I tend to hike, jog or walk around town and have discovered a newfound appreciation for just observing day to day life within Ketchikan and many of the unique vistas for photos.
    • There are some good Breweries in town (Bawden St is a good one) as well as Uncharted Alaska Distillery which has some very good spirits.
    • The Rainbow trail above town is a nice path.  Or walking along 3rd avenue above town provides some great vistas.
    • City Park, tucked behind Cape Fox hill is a nice little oasis to walk through with fish ladders as I recall.
    • The network of wooden plank paths that go to homes and businesses is also fun to discover.

    Thanks!!

I used to feel the same way, but I've found some things about it that I really like now.

To that end, Victoria and Astoria are better ports than Ketchikan if you appreciate history, culture, local food and drink, and in some regard, even varied geography.  Even though I can drive to Astoria, its unique to arrive on a ship.

Do you mind sharing what you now like about Ketchikan?

  7. This is my first cruise. So far the App seems to be working ok for me. I think I got everything uploaded, filled out, etc. for everyone in my group this morning. I know I'm behind when it comes to this, but being my first cruise, I didn't really realize the work required on the front end. Anyways....

We are cruising to Alaska in June. I am trying to choose an arrival time and it shows Early, Mid, and Late. However, it shows 0 available groups for each option. Is this an app issue or something I'm doing?

Thanks for any and all help!
