  1. Paul Rutter is a great CD. I've cruised with him twice. The first time I hit all the shows and games and he was out there leading every one. Quest was a blast and he was too funny.

On my last cruise I didn't do all the stuff to see him, but I did see him around the ship. He's just as fun and friendly as ever.

He has been my favorite CD so far because he IS out there and involved and is friendly and approachable, too - a real regular guy who's good at what he does.

This makes me think Paul might have been ill or under the weather on our cruise. We saw a lot of Joshua and Wendy, but as I said before, I went to many activities and never saw Paul.

  2. emdia43, I just got off and have that question myself. I never once saw or heard the CD. Ok, Ok, so I didn't go to shows, but I did a lot of the activities (embarkation treasure hunt thingy, scavenger hunt, pool deck stuff, bingo, karaoke, trivia, Battle of the Sexes, etc). They were always led by different members of "the cruise director's staff". The overhead announcements were from the captain or members of the CD staff. On my conquest cruise we saw and heard the CD all the time.

Maybe on the Enchantment I just wasn't paying attention. Also, on the Conquest, the CD had a debarkation (or disembarkation, if you will) talk in the theater. On the Enchantment, it was just a video available for viewing on our stateroom tvs. Is that normal?

  3. I just checked online and RC is having a sale on balconies for our 4 night sailing on Nov 1. We booked a large interior on deck seven (K) for $339 a person. We've only dont balconies before, but DH and I are trying to do this on the cheap. BUT, it is our anniversary.

The balconies are on sale for $599 a person. So it would cost us $520 more. Is a balcony worth $520 more on EOS on a 4 night cruise?

I just got back from the Enchantment. The "large interiors" on deck 7 aren't very large. If you really want something nice and bigger, but don't want to pay the money for a balcony, try the oceanviews all the way forward on Deck 7. We had 7006 and it was deeper than a balcony cabin (like the balcony space was included in the room square footage because the wall goes all the way out) and about twice as wide as an interior. The other few OVs aren't as big, but they are bigger in room SF than the balconies.

  4. We celebrated our anniversary at Chops last week after the day in Cozumel! Must be the hip thing to do ;) We had a 6:30 reservation, and we had a nice table by the window so we could see the lights of Cozumel as we sailed away. Gorgeous!

There wasn't a table set up in the main Centrum area when we boarded. I had to go to Chops to make the reservation. I got there about an hour after boarding started, and I was the first person to make a reservation. However, two hours later, there was a waiting list.

If you do find yourself on a waiting list and really want to eat there, try combining with another couple or two. There were several tables for 6 that were empty the whole night.

  5. Just got off the Enchantment yesterday. If you buy the cruise DVD, it will include the stretch footage.

At our informal Meet and Mingle, Debbie told us that Julian had a family emergency and wouldn't be on our cruise. Don't know any more than that, though.

In Key West I suggest doing the trolley or train tour first, then trying to walk and doing things on your own. We didn't do a tour, and I never could find the Blond Giraffe.

Our cruise was fabulous. Our waiter, Putu from Indonesia was absolutely wonderful! He even got teary on the last night when he said goodbye to our daughter.

  6. I apologize if this is a repeat question but I searched and didn't find what I was looking for....

What series of cabin #'s would be the newest (put in w/the stretch?). We're in 2566 on Dec 6 and I'm wondering if we'll be in a 2 yr old cabin or a 10 yr old cabin. Not that it really matters mind you, it's a cabin w/an ocenview, so I'm okay w/either. Just wondering.

    Thanks!!

To figure out which cabins are new on the other decks, simply change the first digit in the room number to correspond with the deck number, e.g. 8568-8582 and 8068-8082.

  7. We are cruising the week of Oct 21st and some folks on our Roll Call say that they have heard that Carnival has Halloween Parties on cruises during the month of October. Can someone who has cruised on the Conquest in October please tell me if they did that on your cruise and if they do, what it consists of and if guest wear costumes? Thanks!

    Patti

Yes, they do have a Halloween Party. Some guests and some staff dressed up. I remember some of the gals from the Spa came in costumes. We didn't have costumes, but we walked through the casino where most of the hub-ub was. Mostly just mingling, eating some themed food (minimal amount served), and oo-ing and ah-ing at the various costumes.

  8. I have been to Ft Lauderdale many times as we live about 4 hrs away. It is a beautiful community! HAVe a blast!!! When you are coming off we will be getting ready to board a few days later.:D Can't wait. be sure and tell us what you think the moment you return.

    Dawn

I'm so excited! I will let you know how it is.

I'm still confused, though. A few posts up you said you were leaving in 2 days, but then you say you will be boarding a few days after I get off... Just wondering ;) That's why I thought maybe you would be in FLL for a few weeks.

  9. We just booked the Enchantment 5-day for October 8. I chose one of the oceanview cabins on the 7th deck all the way forward. As far as I can tell from the deck plans, the Enchantment is the only ship in the Vision family that has this small pocket of oceanviews on Deck 7 (below the bridge). The rest of the deck is insides and balconies, so this set of oceanviews seemed intriguing. Perhaps a good little secret, or maybe just a bad a idea.

Have any of you stayed in these? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Should I keep this assignment or try to get an oceanview on another deck?
